MontanaChinook
It looks like there might have been butyl tape originally? I've got my new countertop, and will be putting the old sink in it. Sould I just use the same butyl tape I used for my new roof vent, or is there a better product?

linda s
I use butyl tape in my home sinks and fittings now. Works great and seems to make up for my bad plumbing cause nothing is leaking so far Linda S
MontanaChinook
Hmm. Well maybe I'll just save myself a couple bucks and use the extra butyl tape I've got. Thanks.
fred heath
I've never used tape for a sink install. It probably works fine, but seems you would only have one shot at getting it in and centered over your drain pipe. Once in,you would not be able to shift the sink around. I've always used a bead of silicon. Any excess can be removed with a razor blade after it dries. Makes a nice watertight seal.

When I put my windows in trust me I didn't get them in the right place right away. Linda S
