Derek up North
I just looked at the '79 brochure and there's no sign of a spare mounted on the rear. So, that leaves underneath!

5Toyota
i think most of the earlyer models used the standerd org truck mount under the back the jack was operated with a long rod with an s ho cke on one end a removeable crank handle fited on the other end and a removable extension also on that end the hook went in the drum to raise and lor the tire by winding the chain the japs wher e light years ahead of the american trucks if you ever strugled to remove or replace a 3 quyter ton truck 750 by 16 100 pound tire by lifting or smashing your hands under it thirty years later they have some simler mounts
