tlava
Hi All-- Can you all shake out some of those facts you have stored up and give me a comparison, as far as quality, power, endurance, fuel efficiency, etc. between a 22r/22re and the 4 cyl Nissan with the eight plugs? Also the availability/cost of rebuilds? Also the 5 spd v. Toy 4 spd trannys? and the proneness of the earlier Nissan (1984) chassis v. Toy to rust? Thanks! Maineah
Toyota, hands down and there were far more of them so parts are not a problem. The frames never seemed to be a problem with the Toyota's because no one seems to run around in the winter salt with a MH. 5 spd if you can find one all though the autos were fine, no matter what neither were race trucks they weigh about 6,000 pounds so just think how slow a full size 4X4 truck with a 130 HP engine would be and divide by 2. BobBeery
In August 2010 I talked to the owner of a Nissan-based rig. He had the eight spark plugs, a manual transmission, and a very small unit that was about three feet shorter than my 87 Dolphin (21 ft 5 in according to the original sales brochure) so he had to be pushing less weight also. I asked him about gas mileage and he said 18mpg was usual. We weren't dickering about a sale and this was at a church mens retreat so there was no reason for him to be feeding me a line of baloney. But I admit I cannot verify his mileage claim. He also had a very nice custom made magnetized cover for the windshield but all he could tell me about where he got that was that it came with the unit when he bought it.
