Hello,

My mechanic is going to adjust the valves on my 85 Sunrader, 22RE Auto. My Hayes repair manual doesn't give the specific clearances, and also said that they should be adjusted when the engine is warmed up. Is this true? Other cars I have had, I always adjusted them cold. If anyone has those clearances and info re. the temp of the engine I would greatly appreciate it.

Getting ready for the next trip!

James

1986 Factory manual .02MM (.008") intake, .03MM (.012") exhaust. Normal operating engine temp. I set mine to .007 and .011.

007 wil go in with a minor push, 008 won't go without bending the gauge.

I got rid of all my MBZ stuff when I sold my 57 180D. Do you still need the tall crowfoot wrench to set the valves on a OHC Benz or did they change things??

You are 100% correct have no ideal where I pulled that out from. I even have some fairly worn long 008 and .012 feeler gauges.

My 4 cylinder gets 53 mpg........ (it is however a VW diesel)

I thought the 6 only got 20 mpg when it came time to sell it.
