  1. I checked the local truck place and no savings there, more expensive. Did several web searches and made a couple calls to no avail. I find little to nothing on the Maxxx Air bags. So guess I will have to be the guinea pig and give them a try. They list a set of bags as 224C replacements for $99.98 pair. The port is 1/2" instead of a 1/4 and has single mounting hole on bottom instead of 2. I do not see either as a big deal. The store is WheelsNparts, been an Ebay member since 2001 with a 99.8% positive feedback on 33,000 sales. Will follow up as things progress. 2. If 224C is the rubber part number. And that is the number stamped on the rubber! Then other 224C should work if they fit? There are Maxxair bags on Ebay for $99 a pair that claim to be 224C replacements. They would only require a new mounting hole drilled in the bottom bracket.. Or are the other brands junk and I should stick with Firestone?? Expiring minds need to know. http://www.ebay.com/itm/two-new-standard-2600-air-bags-3-8-npt-port-ride-springs-bag-suspension-fbss-/121566282478?vxp=mtr&hash=item1c4dea42ee
  3. 1130 seems to be the entire kit. I have the kit and need to replace the air bags/springs/bellows. Thanks JIm http://www.amazon.com/Firestone-Ride-Rite-Brackets-Inflation-W217601130/dp/B0034NXJKS
  4. I thought the kit looked nothing like the 1130 but I was mislead by "picture may not be an actual representation of product shipped". This is what I have. The airbag is a double convoluted, The studs on top are fine thread and spaced 2.75" The bottom holes are spaced 2.75" and are 3/8 16. Yes drilling a single 7/16" hole in the bottom is an option. FO 335 Appears to be very close to what I have. I did find more numbers stamped on the metal top part, 2722D 3071, but a web search returns nothing? Any cheaper options? Thanks for the quick response, always appreciated. JIm SW FL
  5. I'm home and have the toy up in the air to replace the air bags. I pulled one out to get the numbers and not much luck there. They are stamped Firestone Riderite and the only number showing is 224C. An internet search shows I might have kit # 1130 which uses Firestone air spring # 6873. My existing kit looks nothing like the Firestone picture? The firestone site shows # 6873 has 2 studs on top and one blindnut on the bottom. My bag/spring/bellow has 2 studs on top and 2 blindnuts on the bottom? Little tired of trying to chase this down on the internet so any input greatly appreciated. 6. I can relate. I try to do stuff in FL, clear blue sky and 30 minutes latter it rains, no not rain, pours! Then the sun comes back out, but everything is soaked. Of course now it has rained the humidity is higher than what the instructions call for! Nice job, thanks for posting. Jim SW FL
  7. I redid an Onan generator where water had laid on top of the oil in the oil pan. The pan had a line of pinhole leaks all the way around it. I cleaned it up and used Por15. Never had a problem after that. JIm SW FL
  8. Getting a bit ahead of myself here but am window shopping for tire pressure monitors. It appears that going from a 4 tire system to a 6+ tire system is a large jump in price. So am looking at monitoring the rear 4 tires. I see some cheap (under $100) Chinese systems, but can find little reviews or feedback on them. To keep things simple I would need to use the type with the external type senders. Something like this. http://www.dhgate.com/product/tpms-car-wireless-tire-pressure-monitoring/180353517.html?utm_source=pla&utm_medium=GMC&utm_campaign=zhlovezhp&utm_term=180353517&f=bm|180353517|112010-VehicleTools|GMC|Adwords|pla|zhlovezhp|US|112010013-OtherVehicleTools|c||0LRF|&gclid=CPuJiMbWoMUCFXQV7Aod3AwA6g Any thoughts, opinions, experience, input or wisecracks greatly appreciated. 9. I am back to working on the Toy and looking at removing some caulk that someone smeared on the fiberglass. I have seen a couple threads here on removers that were caulk specific. ie latex, silicone etc. I do not know what these caulks are? Seems to be a variety applied at different times. None of it neatly. Anyone found a caulk remover that is good for all or most caulks that will not harm the fiberglass? Any and all input greatly appreciated. JIm SW FL
  10. I used the red ones also. If I am going to do something I want it to show! But 2 of mine did not fit and due to time constraints I had 2 buy a couple regular ones from NAPA, they are black and just not as pretty! Jim
  11. Thanks for the pictures and info. I had planned on using some scrap EPDM on the roof, but now will come up with something else! Jim
  12. Nice find JD, beats buyin the original Toyota valves, just wish you would have come up with it sooner ( :
  13. On several RV forums they recommend $2 tie rod ends but insist on Michealin tires, K&M air cleaners and Bilistien shocks, color me confused. If I were going to go off roading with my Toy or had plans of keeping it 40 years, or maybe the micro mini Baha 500, I might consider the Bilstein's I live in the real world and saving over $100 is not a trivial matter. I doubt in a blind road test that the promoters could tell one from another? Kyb is a perfectly acceptable shock has a good reputation and will do everything I need! They are way better than the useless hunks of metal that I was carring around. I used the Monroe stabilizer as they were in stock at the local parts store and I get the mechanics discount Name brand and discount are the deciding factor in many purchases. My opinion and worth what you are paying for it (no discount). Jim
  14. These are what worked for me http://www.ebay.com/itm/161230277260 HTH Jim
  15. I redid mine, 1st problem was the cylinders were different lengths. Shaft diamater can be different, mine were all the same. 2nd was arms on ends were different. Most of the arms were interchangeable with the new locks, had to cut one new arm to make it work. To compensate for shaft difference, I bought a set of longest lock I needed and made shims from 3/4 inch pvc pipe, I used grey electric pipe, that looked best. The shim goes outside between lock bezel and door. I bought 10 matching locks on Ebay for about $20, needed 8 now I have 2 spares plus 20 keys Jim
  16. Now you will have to buy another toy to fit them! Jim
  17. I know nothing about the axle, but I loved my 6 months in Chaing Mai. Keep promising myself I will get back there someday. Now if I need parts I will have a reason. Jim On jungle Wifi in the Philippines .
  18. Look's like you did good on that. $59 for a front end alignment, I would be thrilled! I feel more comfortable dealing wth local shops than national franchises. Jim
  19. Personally instead of fixing what might be the problem I would do a pressure test of the home. This is time consuming but may isolate the leak. I have a rickety old keyboard, junky computer and a horrible internet connection so will not go into detail. The materials are simple and cheap, a strong fan, plastic sheeting, tape and soapy water.. Basically you are trying to introduce outside air to pressurize the interior of the home and spread soapy water on the outside, the leak should show on the outside as bubbles. Some things may be massive air leaks, such as doors and window and need to be taped and sheeted to maintain pressure. Super high pressures are not needed inside. Isolating the sleeping area and testing just that may be an option?? A Google search should find some info on this, does not require fancy hi tech equipment. HTH Jim
  20. It is interesting watching your progress. Fairly often I have to walk away and do something else or I start making mistakes. Jim
  21. Don't let the computer learning curve get you down, most of us have been there! Be good to the wife and keep her handy
  22. I used to buy my tires and batteries at Wal. Mart. After an issue with a obviously bad battery I now buy my batteries from NAPA and my tires elsewhere. Rumor has it WM will be shutting down auto repair due to law suits??
  23. Thanks for the follow up. Good deal ???? You won't know until you have the tires balanced. Jim
