  1. For anyone else who is interested in the lights. I too have a set (rt. and lt. sides) that I'll be selling soon. I'm replacing mine with LEDs. $25 for each side sounds reasonable to me. Buyer pays actual shipping and I don't charge handling fees, documentation fees, advertising fees or any other gouging fees. 87 Dolphin. Bargman PN 47-84-002. PM me.
  2. I really like PA. I have stayed in some very nice, small, mom and pop places. I think PA is very good value. Boondocking: Try: www.freecampsites.net The price is always right! If you're a senior or handicapped, try the National Park passes. They're good for free entry and 1/2 off camping fees, etc. Did you know that you can camp (boondock) for free in national forests (unless otherwise posted). Check out corps of engineers, bureau of land management, etc., for free or low cost camping. I'm planning a trip to Quartzite, Arizona next January for the big RV event. There are thousands and thousands of acres of free camping on the BLM lands in the area. There are so many beautiful and free areas to camp, that Walmart should be your last resort. (Walmart is hardly a resort, at least for mainstream America)! I'm not sure, but I think Thousand Trails is one of those time share-like deals. Typically they are expensive, have skyrocketing maintenance fees and have limited appeal for those who prefer nature to a crowded parking lot full of people, dogs, and screaming kids with 'planned activities' like free popcorn nights and unlimited shuffleboard. Best of luck! See you in Quartzite!

    2014 Trip

Where do you get cheese in those small towns???
  4. Tika and Tom, Do you have another contact number? I keep getting a recording that says the number you gave is no longer in service.
  5. Will there be a Toyota gathering at Quartzite in 2015? Does anyone have a contact number? I tried the previously listed number and a recording stated that it had been disconnected or was no longer in service. We're looking forward to going for the first time and meeting many Toyofriends!
  6. Paul, Congratulations and welcome to the forum. My name is Paul too and I live here in The Colonies. I too, have a 1987 Dolphin. I live on the Middle Coast (Gulf of Mexico) and near New Orleans. If you ever get over this way, look me up. We would be happy to put you up for awhile and show you the sights. There's not much curry around here but we do have plenty of seafood and lots of good old Cajun food from down on da bayou. Also, I'm into old cars too. I have too many projects and visitors ask me what I do with all the old cars I tell them that I watch them rust Take care and keep in touch. Paul.
  7. I like the fact that it is in Australia and has no A/C. Can you picture crossing the Outback in the summer with no a/c???? Now that's an adventure!
  8. Have you considered loaning it to your mechanics in exchange for their help? They sound like trustworthy guys who like supporting charitable work.
  9. I got my cab carpet from www.stockinteriors.com. I would recommend you also get it with extra padding. In addition, I installed B Quiet for sound deadening. It is almost equivalent to Dyna Mat but costs much less. I read quantified test comparisons of the two products and they are quite comparable. After installing the B Quiet, I put down a layer of foil insulation with a foil core. Before my upgrade, I measured the temperature (last summer) of the transmission tunnel and it was over 107 degrees. The cab was being super heated without the upgrade. After the upgrade, the A/C now cools the cab quite well and the noise level is significantly less. If you're going to go to all the trouble of replacing your carpet, I recommend doing the insulation and sound upgrades at the same time.
  10. Hey! That's mine! What's it doing in Canada? I wondered why I was getting such great gas mileage and why I kept feeling a draft!
  11. Forrest, I have two tethers that I have been meaning to remove. If you get a MH and want them, let me know. You can have them for the cost of shipping. The PO had them installed for his baby car seat. We're in our 60's and the grandchildren are nowhere near. I'm tired of stubbing my barefooted toes on them. Toyohome
  12. Nice TV! If you don't mind me asking; How tall are you?
  13. I'm rolling Yokohama Y356 tires, load range D, and am very pleased with them. Try www.tirerack.com for the best price.
  14. I heard that with the Crossfire system that the second tire would NOT go flat if the other loses air. There is supposed to be a check valve that prevents the loss of air in the other (good) tire. Does anyone have 'first hand' experience with the Crossfire system???
  15. Has anyone used the Crossfire (CF65STABT) dual tire inflation system? I've seen good reviews on it and was wondering if any Toyohomers have first hand experience with the system. It eliminates the difficulty of checking and filling the inner rear tires.
  16. Your purchase process sounds about like mine. The seller was great, honest and straightforward. Yes, there really are good people left in the world. Suggestions: Stay out of overdrive because your trans will heat up rapidly. (I have a trans temp gauge). Use your cruise sparingly. Those kick downs will really cost a lot in gas. Don't get in a hurry. At a steady 50 mph, I can get an honest 15 mpg. Have fun!
  17. How about those modern day convertibles with black vinyl interiors? They give new meaning to the term 'heated seats'! Let it sit in the sun for awhile with the top down. Brilliant design!
  18. I've heard that 'breaking your windshield' routine many times. (When they say that, it is guaranteed that your windshield will be broken). I have taken many windshields out of cars and have never broken one and I am not a professional installer. If you remove the trim and carefully cut under the gasket on both the inside and the outside, you can lift the glass right out. NEVER pry on the glass and NEVER push on the concave side. You are going to need a new gasket because of the age of your MH. I would NEVER try to install a windshield though. Here's where you will break it. Just take your new gasket along with your windshield to the glass shop and have them install it. I have a good relationship with my glass shop and they take care of my many projects at very fair prices. The removal process is very easy. Just take your time, follow my suggestions, have an assistant, and you'll be successful.
  19. You would, "take a chance" on that one. Did you notice the five lug wheels?
  20. I dabble in old car restorations. Here's a bit from my experience: 1. Check your drains to be sure they are not clogged. 2. Check your cowl (under the grille in front of the windshield). I had one rust out on a 66 Mustang (common problem). 3. Have a competent glass shop replace the windshield gasket. A. Buy your own gasket unless you know that the installer is NOT using a third world gasket. Chinese gaskets will deteriorate much faster and will not seal as well. Your safest bet is to buy a genuine Toyota gasket (made in Japan). Good luck and let us know your results.
  21. I had an old Toyota motorhome once and it usually got 45 miles per gallon. No modifications at all!
  22. Yes. I like the tire mark too! I think your Dolphin deserves a purple heart too for wounds incurred in combat. In fact, I would paint a purple heart on the door by the tire mark. She needs to get the respect she deserves!
  23. I'm interested in your reinforcement plan also. I'd like to do it too. In addition, I read somewhere that you can double gasket the seal. The gaskets are available at most RV suppliers.
  24. Those NADA prices DO NOT reflect the current market! The actual value of any item is not what someone or some guide book tells you. The true value of it is what someone will pay at any given time. That is what the true value of it is. List it on Ebay with no reserve and you will find out exactly what it is worth at the end of the auction. Contrary to popular belief the value does not increase by $20000 if you put $20000 into add ons and improvements. It is only worth what someone will pay at any given time. That said; now is probably the best time of year to sell. It's springtime and people are anxious to get outdoors. I haven't seen your RV but from the info you gave, your purchase price sounds about right.
