  1. Everyone: Please accept my apologies. It was never my intention to get anybody stirred up by my use of the word Socialism. If I could jump into the 'time machine' and go back and change my original post, I would say something like: 'It seems to ME that the government on both sides of the border can make it challenging to import & export an automobile.' Again, please accept my apologies and let us move on with life. ~Riverman77
  2. I almost never use it but, tonight I noticed the PM messaging icon is now missing. It seems as if Greg has had to re-boot the website into a much earlier version. Has anyone else noticed the PM messaging is now gone? Or, maybe someone can tell me where it has been moved to. ~Riverman77
  3. I've never used the "View New Content" button ever before. I have always left my selection on "Forums" (top of page). When a person writes, a new comment, it displays (on my computer) the date, time & handle name of the writer. This tells me enough information that someone has made a NEW comment. It has always worked for me. P.S. What I have found not functioning the same (since Greg's fixing) is: as I type this comment, the dialog box that I am typing in looks very antiquated. It looks like I am using an old Microsoft "Works" program, running in a DOS 3.0 world. Greg certainly did re-boot the website back into a much older version. Am I the only person that has noticed this? ~Riverman77
  4. Thank you. I am pleased to see that the waters have now calmed. I truly do enjoy reading helpful, insightful and unique comments from each and everyone of you. But, when the forum turns into a non-productive shouting match, nobody benefits. Now, let's move forward. Again, thank you. ~Riverman77
  5. Thanks Derek for the shortcut to the link. It sounds like a good explanation from Greg as to exactly what happened during the recent web repair. ~Riverman77
  6. Totem, Woops. My bad. I did not notice, that your avatar IS NOW back up & working. I'm glad that you were able to restore it and get it back working again. To Greg's defense, perhaps (now I'm not a computer programmer) what ever it was he was "fixing", it required he re-boot the system with some of the old code, thus they were a few casualties that happened along the way...such as your lost avatar. Perhaps, we may even discover a few other strange things that occurred during the down time. It would be a real kindness if Linda, Derek or even Greg (himself) posted a brand new thread to explain what exactly was going on, during those two mysterious times that the website was down. Again, I humbly beg of them an explanation. Please don't leave us all wondering if the website will quietly crash again. ~Riverman77
  7. Totem, How did you find, select & change your avatar (to the red map) to begin with? Why not simply repeat those steps and put it back up ?? ~Riverman77
  8. Hey Totem, I don't know anything about who or how your avatar got removed. Nor, anything about why Greg sent this great website into the Twilight Zone a couple of times. All I wanted to do is make the following comment to you about your latest avatar: Ever since the last November election, your avatar is ACCURATE. No matter what side of the aisle a person is on (R, D or I), your avatar represented the TRUTH of how the balance of the country has voted for their representation. The pendulum does swing back and forth, as America continues to grow. Now, how and why "they" or "he" changed you avatar, is only anyone's guess. I'm sorry that it happened to you. I hope that either you or they find a way to get your avatar replaced. I for one, enjoy your unique, personal expression of the current political climate of our country. Please stop picking on Totem! He has a lot of good input that I enjoy reading. My vote is: REPLACE TOTEM'S AVATAR!! ~Riverman77
  9. HELLO?...Hello?...hello? Is anybody in there? Just nod if you can hear me. Is there anyone at home? Would someone please tell Greg to stop fixing the website? He is starting to really freak us out Royal. ~Riverman77
  10. Ah, those silly Brits. And all the while I always thought it meant something important like, Society of Automotive Engineers. I guess we've been getting fooled all along. ~Riverman77
  11. Cool article JDE. Thanks for reposting it. I bookmarked it for reference. I've got an '87 and a '88, both model 900's. ~Riverman77 EDIT: Woops! I goofed! Thanks to "thetundrawolf" for the repost of this cool piece.
  12. Dear MikeM, Thank you for submitting your initial question for us to chew up, digest and toss around a myriad of thoughts for you to ponder. I'm sorry that you had endure so many trains of thought and filter through all of the political rants and other off topic dialog. But, that's what we do here on this fine forum. You post a question here, and we'll reply back to you in a lot of different directions, from many different backgrounds. As you have read, I did offer you some reasonable thoughts, based upon MYOWN personal experiences. Attempting to transfer a title into my name (a VW that was 'already' here in the U.S.) simply turned into a big nightmare for ME. I got an education with my numerous attempts and decided that I would not ever attempt such a thing like this again. I am glad to hear that there are some folks out there (Derek and yourself included) that know the rules to make trading a vehicle across country borders without too much problem. More power to you folks; It simply didn't workout that smoothly for MYSELF. I, for one, am glad to hear of your verdict, to have the Canadian folks come to Phoenix to (re)purchase your rig. Also, your secondary plan of just selling locally, makes the most sense to me. I have but one parting recommendation for you. You might wish to transfer the papers right at the DVM with the Canadians (or local purchaser) right with you. After the transfer has been made (with whatever special international papers may be required), be sure spend the extra couple of dollars and ask the title clerk to print you out a "Seller's Report Of Sale" document. Don't do this yourself online - get this very important document in your hand at the DMV. From that moment forward, you should have nothing to worry about, because your state (officially) recognizes your complete disassociation from said vehicle. Again, this merely MYOWN opinion from MYOWN education, after having sold a number of vehicles myself Good luck to you in the transference of your motorhome. And, happy travels to you, should you decide to keep the rig and use it. ~Riverman77
  13. Yes Derek, A while back, I purchased an old Volkswagen from a fella that hadn't completed the paperwork. It still had a Canadian title. He wrote me a bill of sale and I thought everything was going to be just fine. After 2 months of in and out of DMV, the Courthouse, the County Seat, the State Patrol and the local Sheriff's Office........I simply gave up and scrapped the heap out. It was nothing but a nightmare and a big waste of time. But, I did get an education in the process....FOR ME to never attempt doing something like that ever again. Perhaps YOU or other people may have knowledge and first hand experience of going through the process. And, more power to YOU for knowing how to do so. But again, buying an out of country vehicle is not for ME. P.S. AGAIN, my original point being let the other fella have the fun & adventure & education of importing a vehicle into another country. Or better yet, just simply sell the darn thing down in Phoenix...and be done with it already! Nuff said!! Now go have a Merry Christmas...for Pete's sake. ~Riverman77
  14. Hi rad wolfe, You forgot to read the part where I said "coming and going". Both sides of the border makes it a nightmare to transfer a vehicle from a foreign country. Thankfully, Corbin K (post #9) completely understood the spirit of what I was saying when she replied: "Let the buyer have the right of the first refusal". As far as the government goes (both U.S. and Canada), they do their jobs best when they separate life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness from it's citizens. ~Riverman77
  15. I agree exactly. You originally went to the same trouble to go up North to purchase the rig, import it into the States, put new tires on it and drove it down to Phoenix. If the Canadian dude wants back it bad enough, he should go through the same efforts you did, pay you a higher price (tires & repairs) and now pay for this new special re-import fee (Socialism gets you coming & going$$$). Or, so it seems to me. Or better yet, if you don't want the RV anymore, why don't you simply place a local ad 'for sale' in Phoenix and save everyone the hassle? ~Riverman77
  16. Linda and Derek, For the past 2 days, I was unable to enter into the forum area of this site. All I would get was something like: 'We are experiencing some problems right now and trying to fix them. Please check back later. Greg'. I don't know what happened either. Tonight, you folks came back on and alive. For some odd reason, I was always able to log onto the used rigs for sale area of the site but, the forum seemed to be shut down or under repairs. I hope that my input is somewhat helpful. I happy that you're back up & running! ~Riverman77
  17. Back in 2011, John "Waiter" wrote a very informative posting (#33) on how a person can follow some of the scammers on Craig's List. One of these days, when I get some extra time on my hands, I think I may follow some of John's advice to keep an eye out on that SeaBreeze and watch just how many city's and towns that this ONE elusive RV seems to get posted in! I wish to thank either Derek or Linda for "Pinning" this topic at the top of the page. I think it may be useful to help some of 'our people' from getting scammed. P.S. John, If you are still out there and still take a peek at this forum, I hope that you are doing well ever since you had sold your Toy Home. You used to contribute some very cool input during your time at this website. Happy travels to you in 2015! ~Riverman77
  18. JDE, Please don't lose trust everyone, just because of a couple bad folks out there. Kharma (or God) will make sure that the dishonest people get a taste of their own medicine and bless those who do strive to do the right thing. Oh, by the way, the ECM that you sold me, is still working great! Thanks again for simply mailing it to me and (trusting) accepting my personal checks as payment. ~Riverman77
  19. Wow! You folks are way too cool! This reminds me of a 'Top 40 Radio Station'....Are you taking anymore requests? :-) ~Riverman77
  20. Derek, I just did a search using the word "scam" in General Discussion. I did come back with a whole bunch of results. What I was suggesting was permanently "Pining" a warning at the top under General Discussion. But, on the other hand, our main mission on this great website is for much more positive sharing of ideas and not giving a huge amount of spotlight upon those crooked scammer's. I was merely expressing some momentary anger and concern about crooks. ~Riverman77
  21. Linda, Thank you for the detailed explanation. I have read of this scam, from time to time, in other postings right here on this website. I'm sure that there are folks who post on the Toyota-campers group that offer warnings of these same scams as well. If this problem of fake eBay/Craigslist for sale listings (especially crooks from other countries) continues to grow, perhaps you may consider permanently 'pinning' a topic to the top of the "General Discussion" page called "Scammer's: Buyer's Be Aware!". Thanks again for helping to keep us innocent folks aware of these crooked dealings out there. ~Riverman77
  22. This may sound a bit too simplistic, but has anyone ever reported this "Briana Cobey" et al other scammers to eBay? Especially since there seems to be so many copycat illegal transactions occurring right on eBay's very own website AND using eBay directly in their scams; with language such as "eBay Motors will send you this contract if you send me your info...and all you need to do is follow 'their' guidelines...etc". I seems to me that eBay's attorneys would want to be all over this. ~Riverman77
  23. JDE, Don't you hate it when people write in, all in a panic because they are going through some kind of an emergency, you help them out of THEIR problem and they somehow forget to give you a small amount of courtesy of a follow-up reply. I don't understand some people sometimes?! Fortunately, most of us here on this forum are kind enough to offer a short, little follow through comment of how it all came out in the end. ~Riverman77
  24. Thanks for the link, Linda. I do have some friends west of St. Louis I thought about mentioning it to. But, decided not to burdon them with this unit. There are too issues for them to be interested; the 'death axle', no title, major fixer, etc. But, thanks again. ~Riverman77
  25. It kind of makes me think a modern day 'Lost In Space' Chariot..."Danger Will Robinson"! The bike is out of this world, too. ~Riverman77
