  1. Thanks for the input. I have proposed they accept possession in AZ or I will either keep it and use myself or sell locally. Being a peaceable sort the only issue I have had was at the border this summer when Customs asked if I had bought anything in Canada. When I 'fessed up to an unopened bottle of Scotch he allowed as he might have to confiscate it. I suggested he better close the gate cuz the both of us would have to consume right here and now. With a laugh and a Welcome Back he waved me through. Pretty easy entrance and exit process I think. MikeM
  2. This summer I bought a '92 SeaBreeze in Nova Scotia and spent part of summer touring and ending up in Phoenix where the rig is now. Once I found some new tires (thank you LindaS) all went flawlessly. It is in almost perfect condition. I was going to sell the MH next summer but original owner wants to buy it back. If so it will need to go back to Nova Scotia. I am THINKING of putting out the word for a person or couple that wish to take a long drive to NS to drive it there and then fly back to their home. I would provide the MH, they provide everything else. Is this dumb? I would have jumped at the chance prior to buying a MH and wonder if I could get someone with good references to do this and it would be a win-win. If anyone has done this I would like to hear of results and opinions. Mike
  3. man oh man, this is a magic site....my '93 Sea Breeze just started resisting going into Low. i am camped near bottom of a steep New Mexico canyon and wondering if the Yote can climb out in 2nd. this will help and hope there is a more permanent fix I can do when this 1/2 circumnavigation is over next month. thanks MikeMc
  4. guess I just bought 44 tires at the rate Derek quoted. As I type I am drinking a Molson......who said it was like making love in a canoe? My SL 12's ran good this afternoon. ))))
  5. AAaaahhhhhh, huge sigh of relief. Whoopee for the Tire Shack in Moncton NB. They had all seven in stock. Yes, seven. I don't want to go thru this mish-moosh for many more years. I feel so good now I will agree the Beach Boys missed a good bet when they forgot to sing about the Canadian girls, Canadian beer is the best and I think I have read everything Alex Mc Knight has written. I will even quit telling everybody about stomping the Octonogon area for grouse in the UP last fall and getting skunked after driving up from AZ.....and the sandwich I ate at Henry's was not up to their usual standards. Thanks again for the helping hands. I do appreciate it, eh? MikeMc
  6. Ps Linda, this is from Tire Shack in Moncton. Did not have Vexon sp? but had 8 SAILUN's and four Goodrides. Thanks again all. MMc
  7. I am about to buy seven185R14C 102/100Q 8P TL SL-12 SAILUN's. They are new supposedly 8 ply, 66 psi, 1700 load rating. If these are not right somebody holler please. Thanks MikeMc
  8. Am checking all this out as I gingerly head west. Can I use 195 R14 class C or D with my 185 R 14"s? Can I mix them on the duals? Is the width difference a deal killer? This would give me more options to find a set of tires I can replace some or preferably all of the tires on my rig. As Linda said, I am heading from Maine to WA/AZ on this trip. Derek, being from the land of micro-brews I sip a heavier and more tasty beer -----what's a Molson?...a Bud? .......Just kidding, gallows humor as I start off with my gimpy tire. MikeMc
  9. Thanks for the good advice s folks. Right after I sent my message I ran into a guy who knows a guy..... Called him and yes, he had two used tires. Off I went and sadly both tires were 185 ? r 14 and only good for 45Psi. Figuring I could at least use it as a spare to get off the road I had him mount it on the blown tire rim. He says while I have no tread on the one tire on dually it does have a good layer of rubber left and if I don't push it......I might be able to get to a bigger city and maybe find new/used. I plan to conservatively drive to St Johns NB tomorrow and shop for used rubber at the few cities on way. Linda, once I have some confidence I might make Bangor I will order the tires from Walmart. Too late for a MH dinner tonight but I will raise a wee glass of the Water of Life in honor of all the good help found on this site. MikeMc
  10. Need advice. Am in Nova Scotia with a blown dually and the replacement spare has less tread than my palm. No new tires can be found and no luck so far on used ones. I hate to head for St. John's NB and/or Bangor with no spare and a real crumby tire on the dually. I have been looking for 185 r 14 class D. Would anything else work? Am hoping if I get to Bangor or Portland Maine I can get a full set someplace. (a St Johns shop quoted me $165 +/+/+ and TWO weeks to get them. What seemed to be a great adventure is turning to moosh. MikeMc
  11. Picked up my new to me Sea Breeze in Nova Scotia this week and have three months to get it to the West Coast. The tires are pretty iffy. I stopped in Halifax and spent a day running around tire places including Costco but had no luck on finding any anywhere. So with a prayer on my lips I am on the Cape Breton Trail and hope to hit New Brunswick next week. Are the tires still being made? Will look again in St Johns NB and again in Portland Maine but who woulda thunk this would be a problem? Color me "Puckered" MikeMc
  12. As usual - THANKS everybody. Am set for now. Hope someday I can be a resource like many on this site. MikeMc
  13. Thanks for the water purifying advice and also on the pre-trek preps. I am not a mechanic of any type so ..... Making a list of just in case. Am I correct the rig takes a 185 R 14 load range D tire and Bilstein Heavy duty shocks? What does one get to make it easy to check tire pressure in both inboard and outboard tires? My new knees dont squat and bend like the old ones did. Thanks MikeMc
  14. Next month I begin my adventure in slowly bringing a '93 Sea Breeze from Nova Scotia to the west coast. I know the MH and it seems to have been well taken care of and I believe is mechanically sound. The owner commented she used to drink the water from the tank but after being in Mexico no longer did. Is there a way to ensure a clean tank? I've heard some bleach in tank, traveling for a day, draining and refill will do it. Will it? How much bleach? How full the tank? The trip should take several months and there will be times having a usable tank may be important. This rig has been winterized and in covered storage for 2 years. Besides a fresh oil change any other suggestions? Thanks MikeMc
  15. Sounds like a great product. A pix and a down the road follow-up report would be appreciated. Soon to be mine - 1993 Sea Breeze - could use a bit of a shine but first I need to get it from Nova Scotia back to west coast....aka How I Spent My Summer. Mike Mc
