  1. I was somewhat sceptical about this cleaner when I picked it at a local hardware store for $2.99. Bar Keepers Friend, yes I read about about it on the forums but thought mine was way too far gone to give it a try. Worked much better than I thought! So it took me a week to clean coach and put on a coat of wax. She is much better looking now. Here a half-n-half look from the rear: Cheers,
  2. So I assume that Auto-Stop is the same as OPD? My horzintal tank is original, well at least the same year as the coach, 1987. When I had it filled from an empty state it took 7.7 gallons, the tank can hold 9.2 gallons. So that's 83 percent roughly. Attached is the Auto-Stop label and the tank label indicating year of manufacture. If Auto-Stop is the same as OPD then these must have been some of the first horzintal tanks to have this feature?
  3. I saw this motorcycle saying somewhere that should apply to Toyhome riders as well. "Safety is no accident, I ride, therfore I am" Enjoy your R&R!
  4. Wow! Great report and thanks for sharing! I seriously thought of making a trip out to Yellowstone but from your experience and others, it sounds like a zoo with all the animal cages opened up. I will do the Badlands again someday, that place IS awesome!
  5. I washed the cab today and thought I would give Bar Keepers Friend a try on the fiberglass cab. I mean the glass has black hairs all over. What do you know, she is coming clean! Unbelievable! Gonna take a while doing it by hand but sure will be nice. Now to figure out how to restore those faded pin stripes....
  6. Wishingriver, I hope you got a good deal out of it and hope the home is in good operating condition. That being said it would have taken the owner only 15 minutes to explain the basics. Derek are 12v lights not supposed to work when you plug into shore power?
  7. I come across this one for a 5th wheel, 20-24 footer. I like the door access. Not sure it would fit our Toys but look like it would do, plus easy access during the hibernation. Not a bad price even compared to the bay. http://www.rvtoyoutlet.com/c-rv-covers/p-RVCA75263.html
  8. This is a good post as I have 3 windows that are gunked with silicone. I have no leaks in my windows and been contemplating that phrase "if it's not broke". Though I'm going to give it a go. Question, how do you all handle the running lights? Mine are hideous...
  9. How about putting a 22re turbo in your toy? http://seattle.craigslist.org/see/bar/3235118082.html
  10. JackP, Did you look behind the driver seat and see if there were air valves? This would tell you if air bags were installed. Well, at least on mine that's where they are located. Cheers, Gary
  11. Exactly! I never heard of an automatic too. If it aint broke why fix it. ;-) I'll just be ready to instruct these newbies when they tell me it doesn't work.
  12. Les Schwab quoted 8 Thunderer R101 185R14's for $1400, balance +tax. Made my way down to Discount Tire and they quoted me 8 Yokohama Y356 185R14's for $1000, blalnce plus tax. They also have a Labor Day weekend special, $100 off a set of 4 tires so that would take me down to $800. Decisions....decisions...
  13. My 87 Conquest has a Manchester tank, I believe 9.2 gallon. None of my propane appliances were lighting and though the cabin LP meter was showing 3/4 full there was no propane in the tank. I took the motorhome down to the local 76 station and they were able to refill it. 7.7 gallons is what it took. When the kid first hooked it up he said it's not working. I told him to open the outage valve on top all the way and try again. He reconnected it and it worked. He indicated that newer homes are all automatic and he never filled these types before. Have you all run into this situation? Should I consider going to a different setup?
  14. I have what looks like some really really old tires on my 87 Conquest that I want to replace. The 5 lug front tires are Goodyear HT 195/75/R14 load range C, the rear dual 6 lug are Wildcat LT 195/75/R14. The year of the rear tires date to 1996. I'm thinking in going to a place like Les Schwab or Good Year so I can have the brakes and shocks looked at. I'm not sure that places like discount tire can do these additional services. So I see many recommendations for Hanook and see references to Yokohama. I want to be safe and not get tires so wide that cause rubbing and such from what I'm reading. What do you recommend? I also have 2 spares that I carry. I'm thinking of ditching the 6 lug to get rid of weight but on the fence at the moment. Again, I apologize if I'm beating a dead horse as there are many posts on this subject. There should be a sticky post in this section that keeps us current on tires. Cheers, Gary in Seattle
  15. Here are front and back hitches on mine. The back hitch has caster wheels to let you know if you start dragging bottom. Scares the hell out of me when I back her into the driveway. I have a slight slope and it's just enough to get them rolling.
  16. Going to a higher power inverter shouldn't have any loss. I assume your 400 watt was is a 3rd world square wave inverter. These types are very efficient but motors like use with drills will run hot. Sine wave inverters are the best but much more in cost. Sine wave inverters have the same type of output as our home AC. Square wave inverters use much less power in idle mode vs sine wave inverters when on but not used. I prefer the 3rd world power for there are not many applications where I use motors. Going to a higher power inverter means pulling more amps from the battery. Plan on putting a class "T" fuse between the inverter and battery for safety precautions. Amp hour capacity of the coach battery bank will determine how long you can run the microwave before a hitting a deep discharge. Cheers, Gary
  17. 1987 Gulfstream Conquest here in Seattle. Cheers, Gary
