  1. Just purchased a White/Rodgers 12V heat only thermostat to replace existing factory unit. My old thermostat has no anticipator setting that I can find. The gas valve also has no label. This unit is missing any ID labels. It is 1979 vintage and in a 16' coach under the fold out bed. My question is, how crucial is this setting? Is there a default setting? The new thermostat anticipator is adjustable from 0.15 to 1.2 amps. Thanks for the help. Fred
  2. NEVER use silicone caulk on any surface you may want to paint. The silicone will reject the paint.
  3. http://flint.craigslist.org/rvs/4731276864.html Sounds like a parts only project. Picture would be nice.
  4. Mine is also 1979. I believe this is the only year they were mfg. Msg me your email and I'll send what info I've been able to find. Unlike most of the pictures you'll find, mine has no portholes just sliders on both sides. And welcome to the best Toyota motorhome site on the web. Many knowledgeable folks here who can answer almost any question. Read the archived posts. Most topics have been thoroughly discussed. Fred
  5. Remove the cover plate on your genset. There are two 5A fuses to the left of the start switch. Twist to remove. They are glass fuses. One is for the electronics the other the fuel pump. You also have a 25A circuit breaker(120V) for your main output.
  6. Thanks Linda. I also posted a thread on Yahoo Group. I'm glad to hear they're more out there. Your the "Boss".
  7. Mine has sliders. No portholes. She's my girl.
  8. Derek, I sent a request to the owner online. No reply. Maybe an old picture?
  9. I have a 1979 Galavan made by Champion in Canada. I guess it was only mfg in 1979. On both Toyota and Datsun chassis. I have searched the web and Google but no luck. It's 16' fiberglass on Toyota chassis with no bathroom or holding tanks. I hate to think mine is the only one registered in the U.S. Derek, Do your magic.
  10. Good looking unit. If it runs well the price is excellent. New they're about $2500.00

  12. Unless you have really deep pockets the best course of action would be to sell the entire vehicle. (out of sight / out of mind). Removal of the coach body would leave you with a cab and chassis of which most of the roof and all of the back will be missing. It could be repaired, but the cost would far exceed any value a cab and chassis would have.
  13. Just completed my return trip to NC. Drove 940.6 miles and used 43.925 gal. of fuel. That works out to an average of 21.41 mpg. The mileage would have been better but I ran the Genny for about 2 hours while sleeping. (rooftop air). The mh ran pretty much full time for over 20 hours. No problems. Not bad for a 36 year old vehicle.
  14. My 1978 has an internal regulator. Sounds like your alternator is bad. Just replace the whole thing.

  16. Go for "Denny's" next time. Make it really "special".
  17. Get a bottle of kids "bubble mix". Pour into a spray bottle and spray onto your valve extensions. Any leak will be easy to spot. Also works great on LP gas lines and even tires.
  18. My only concern with that box setup is would you get sufficient air circulation for cooling. Looks to be a pretty tight fit.
  19. I'm leaning towards the Detroit. A good condition engine will have very little air box drain. Your engines must be old and tired. Any diesel starts hard in the cold.
  20. If you mean a "4BT" Cummings, I found one but it's a little more than I want to spend. Guess I'll keep looking.
