  1. having two options as to where to mount the air conditioner makes the most since to me. my dolpin does not have air, never did, but has a 110 plug in mounted close to the vent opening where i have seen the air mounted in dolphins, about 2/3rds back in the couch.
  2. i think this has been addressed before, but anyone know for sure if the 1989 automatic behind the V6 has a lock up type converter?
  3. i agree with starting with the less pricey solutions. couple of questions come to mind, was the OD turned on and the slippage came when shifting down to third? or OD off and shifting down from third to second? i've driven mine with V6 over pacheco pass a few times, i've always had OD off and manually shifted down to second and ran about 40-45 to the top. i didn't wait for it to try to shift down, once it got down to 45 i just manually shifted it. i've had it kick down out of OD a few times just going down 5 with slight climbs and i've noticed a slight moment between OD and third that there seems to be no gear and some reving, but only maybe a second or two, but i always just shut off the OD at that point. i've never really thought of it as a problem. i have a 2002 dakota with V6 and if i let it kick down out of OD on it's own it does the same thing. maybe at 65-70 the toy wouldn't shift down on HWY 5, but i don't push it that fast. like you mentioned about having it totally flushed by a shop and serviced and worrying about breaking stuff loose causing more problems, i had a 94 GMC that hadn't had the transmission serviced like that for about 150,000 miles, a shop i had had good experience with advised me not to have them do it unless it was really acting up for that very reason. having the pan dropped and changing filter/screen and topping off would probably be a good idea, not overly drastic or costly and if there is a lot of metal and parts in the bottom then you know you need to start planning to spend a few $. hopefully someone here can point you to a good transmission shop in your area, has to be one there.
  4. pretty sure it's photoshopped. directly behind the las two windows are identical trees and red posts with the same limbs hanging down. good job though. )
  5. the best ignore switch is between the ears.
  6. i just changed my password and said no to remember me, seens to be working as it used to except now i have to enter the new password. all's well, thanks.
  7. one thing that i've noticed is i don't seem to be actually signing out. it acts like i have but when i got to the link to sign in it doesn't ask me to sign in and at the top right my choice is to sign out instead of sign in and i can access everything without signing in as such. i will try changing my password then come here again and see what happens. anyone else having the same experience?
  8. crawl under and see if there is any play at the joint. been years but have changed them, not that hard if you like turning a wrench. if not inclined i'd take it to a general repair shop you trust. if it's vibrating hard enough to cause a knock it might damage trans or rearend if not fixed.
  9. worn out steering damper piston? sounds like worn out tierod ends etc, surprised alignment shop didn't spot and sell you stuff. not a motor home but had a dakota that wandered, stopped after new shocks.
  10. converting to full floating duals hasn't been the easiest or cheapest thing to accomplish for some here. some have felt the single rear wheels on the 18' is ok, not even sure it was included on any recall, seemed it was a recall on the fake dualies?
  11. my concern would be if hot air rises, cold air falls, would there be sufficient air flow from the floor to replace the oxygen being burned?
  12. cover the whole coach with black plastic or any water proof tarp?
  13. mpg and small enough to be easy to drive.
  14. here's a chinook in central california if anyone is looking. http://modesto.craigslist.org/rvs/3434394164.html copy and paste.
  15. ac connection shouldn't effect the water pump at all. it's strictly 12v. maybe you battery was too dead to operate it but charged some when you were driving? do all the 12 volt items work? maybe power for the pump comes from the battery and not the converter? some older converters don't charge the battery at all, had a tent trailer that was that way. maybe just a loose connection to the pump that got a better connection bouncing down the road? some questions i would answer in trying to figure it out.
  16. i use firefox, no pop ups. make sure you have your settings not to open pop ups. do tools drop down, then content tab and make sure block pop ups is checked.
  17. i have had the recepticals go bad, maybe where your problem is? test to voltage in the wire coming to the lighter socket? maybe ground lost somehow?
  18. my 1990 dolphin has that same exact layout, in fact same material on the seats etc.
  19. there's an upgraded one that a member on the yahoo group is selling, they are going to bigger unit. not sure where it is at.
  20. there are lots of articles about the safety of propane tanks online. mostly what has been shared here and other toyota motor home sites is that it is not safe to use the bbq tanks, vertical syle, on their sides. the picture to me looks like that is what they are. personally i would remove and put in the right type.
  21. on mine it's very small at the bottom of the thermostat, very similar to what was in houses 30 years ago, without a flashlight i can't see mine, find it by feel.
  22. thanks and i'm printing it out to check mine, sure many others will be doing the same.
