  1. I recently had my motor replaced, and when I did the mech asked me about getting a new starter. I asked why and let him know I felt it was the battery after watching when it did the clicking the battery voltage would drop then slowly rise back up after a start attempt. Turned out the ground wire was completely corroded going from battery to chassis and would heat up and flake out every now and then. They replaced it and it starts like a champ now; on that old battery. I too use AAA for everything.
  2. My old dometic takes 24 hours to get cold minimum 24 hours. I have found i can jumpstart its cooling better if i put a small bag of ice in the top chest. Once it finally starts going its hard core though and can freeze cubes.
  3. Theres another thermocouple thats often ignored also... the one on the INSIDE in the fridge in the cooling array fins. If that one goes bad the fridge with think its cold enough and shut off depending on what setting its set to. these ones get wet alot and will corrode sometimes
  4. Nice setup i may steal it for my cabin in the woods. I forgot to unplug my predator once while the battery bank and inverter got turned on in broad high noon sun with wind also spinning the wind turbine too; the 4000 watt hf inverter did something damn strange - it spun the generator backwards like a starter. It was screaming in the background outside as it took the full load from the battery powered inverter. I thought for sure i fried it. Disconnected it. Started it ran and runs fine... i wonder if a honda would fair as well?
  5. Tape and fix a flat will not work. i did a write up in here on slime and it will work great on both top and bottom leaks; but with top leaks you may need to re-apply a couple times. The key is to get a young buck with a strong grip because squeezing that stuff aint easy. It took all i had to get half a bottle into each bag. Taking out a shrader valve is 10 second job and lets you replace the shrader in case that is part of your problem as they often are. When you hunt leaks spray the shrader too youd be surprised how bad they leak when they get worn. The slime will last a season after season but eventually your bag itself will crack like an old tire and leak beyond what tge slime can do. I used it for 3 summers before i had to replace the 3Ts .. was it worth it? Yup
  6. Actually the slime will go into the line and maybe some into the bag, until you put the shrader valve back in and air it up to 100 psi; at that point the slime and air will both seek the leak.
  7. In my sunrader i only reused 1 oem hole and had to drill 3 new. Re-used my original bolts but did get some ginormous fender washers to reinforce the new holes. Tacked them on .
  8. Unfortunately the beginning point and end point of "vacation" are static and i always leave as early as possible. Looking forward to retirement and the slowness that comes with it :-)

how hard was it to remove the stove. If i were to remove mine would I need to destro the factory cabinetry to get at its mounts? I just cant seem to see whats holding it in there - where the bolts are or screws?

just curious not on the mosquitoes as much as the black flies there. My cousin went there once and said the flies there can get so bad in summer that they can actually KILL animals by draining them of blood and that their voraciousness knows no rival in the lower 48. He went on to add that while fishing there they had black fly attacks that were so bad because the flies, unlike mosquitoes had some intelligence to them and would crawl around on your suit looking for any opening to get into and once in the extreme biting would begin... YIKES
  12. is this the front vehicular seats or the seats in the coach - barrel chairs or others?
  13. also great to have on board when traveling with folks that use LOTS of painkillers, whom tend to not be regular but once bi monthly... fortunately I myself am not that person but I have those in my family that are... and WOW Ihave seen horrible things made that require chopping devices and bring real meaning to the term "turd cutter" on the toilet for the older style flush levers used on our rigs from the 80s.
  14. Agree 100% ^ the solution to using smaller inverter generators is not in the generator; its in the AC unit. I experimented with SUPCO Capacitors and was partially successful with a 13500 BTU coleman but the energy saver 11000 BTU unit run amazingly off my predator 2500 inverter which is just a smidgen more powerful than a 2000 honda; With the new energy efficient roof mounted AC in play we can take our dog, (a GSD) anywhere and leave him in comfort and in full compliance of any laws while getting groceries, treats etc. Also to others point, oil sensors will get tripped from inclines while running while driving IF you are low on oil. The solution is to check oil level and keep filled to max, In my case it never trips as such. Even though the oil may get down to the half way mark on the dip stick and the generator might work fine while stationary, driving while running is a different animal entirely and demands that oil level be on "MAX" on the dipstick so that when inverted it still thinks its full.
  15. I actually own one of these. They burn propane and make great hot water and I think they could easily be plumbed in, provided that the unit itself gets its own exhaust to the outside or is mounted on the outside of the RV. The plumbing isn't the problem, the carbon monoxide is. That being said, the one I own i use as a "camp shower" and hot water provider for an off the grid cabin in the woods... not for an RV
  16. often times the water park, front desk office hours, etc. is closed by that hour, Now imagine a 1200 mile trip...4 hours. Gas is only $2 bucks and change; to the working man that has good paychecks but little time - time is worth more than money.
  17. I had to put a performance motor in to get more destinations time. Wish i was retired- if i was i would do 50
  18. I think its a retired or independent wealth thing vs. employed thing... the retired or indys have all the time in the world and go at their pace. The employed only have a couple days paid vacation to burn which demands results in being places by certain times and home again in order to go back to work for the man. So yup a man thing.
  19. At this point you need a priest, holy water , garlic and crosses. Its possessed.
  20. the only problems I can think of would be potential leak points and severe light generated heat in July months
  21. every doomsday prepper should have a set of these on hand and gas masks. you never know these days especially if close to cities, if you might need em.
  22. this is GREAT topic. how hard is it to remove the oven. I have tried to remove mine several times and I cannot find the bolts... where are they hidden?
  23. wait so your rig had differing number of leafs on each side of the rear suspension? that's a new one for me, sounds like it could cause geometry issues in addition to tired medals.
  24. ironically this would easily be accomplished with a charger plugged into a 12 volt inverter, case closed; you wouldn't want to hook it up direct to the alternator. I charge my 36 volt Lifepo4 scooter banks while driving all the time; off of a dinky small 800 watt HF inverter. I have had an eyeball on 36 volt to 120 inverter that I saw on ebay a few times.. I should have bought it when I had the chance, it was Japanese and I havent seen it since. I could have used my scooters AS my house battery bank and ditched another Marine lead brick from the rig.
