  1. Thank you Derek, Maineah, and Linda. I leave in about an hour to go look (1pm)
  2. I am going to look over an 85 Nissan Sunrader soon, I hope tomorrow. This is to help out somebody who is too far away to see it himself. Of course I will take photos. But I am mostly a Dolphin/Warrior guy and know little about Sunraders and almost nothing about Nissans. After searching Nissan on this board I found a thread comparing Toyota to Nissan, started by Stevo in 2012 and read what I could but my computer will not load the second page so I missed everything after the first 20 posts. I know pretty much what to look for on Toyota but Nissan??? So I am asking are there any particular things to watch for in the Nissan that would especially affect function, durability, or value? And the only thing specific to Sunrader that I know to look at is roof sag under the rooftop A/C. Is there anything else?
  3. I had an 87 Dolphin with the bathroom in back. My rot problem was worst in the shower, and also the kitchen counter by the sink. Hope these areas are clear for you but suggest you check them.
  4. I live only 20 miles from this seller and have called him on the phone. Original post had the telephone area code wrong. It has been corrected to 231. If anybody wants me to check this out I will be willing. Am most familiar with Dolphins and Warriors but have seen an occasional Sunrader. I am not at all familiar with Nissan. Seller hopes to have photos up sometime. Bob Beery
  5. I'm not up on current solar. Is this a reasonable price for the watts listed?
  6. Previous owner did something very similar on my rig. He used 1 1/2 inch by 2 inch metal tubing and placed a quarter inch pad under each end. With two bolts near the centerline drawn all the way up the crossbar is actually pulled down nearly a quarter inch and the inside ceiling bows up but less than a sixteenth of an inch. I have had some problem with A/C condensate not running off properly. Cosmetics--PO left the boards inside unfinished. We painted them white to match the ceiling and seldom notice them.
  7. Wow. Bad. One reason I bought my 94 Warrior despite having a nice 90 Dolphin was that I crawled under and looked at the frame for rust. There was less rust than any other Toy I had been under. Seeing that gave me a big urge to buy.
  8. Does a Sunrader have the same light fixtures as a Dolphin? I was able to get replacement covers that fit both 90 and 94 Dolphins. They were in stock at two of the three local RV dealers.
  9. Or leave your unit winterized and do not use the sink or toilet. If you do buy snow tires consider also getting a set of rims from a junkyard so you can just change tires instead of un-mounting and re-mounting spring and fall.
  10. That is a good price. Around six years ago I had one leaf added each side on an 87 Dolphin plus new bushings but no re-arching. Cost $400. Last year my 90 Dolphin was low on the drivers side so I had a shop add a leaf on that side only. Supposed to be $285. But it was still low that side so they went back and put in a second leaf and it cost total $460 no re-arching and I don't know about bushings one side only.
  11. Water heaters especially without a bypass complicate winterizing, so for you we can skip that. The connection for a hose is handy for using compressed air to blow out your water lines. So... drain your fresh water tank, add some RV antifreeze to the tank, turn on the water pump, and run each faucet separately until you see the antifreeze then turn off. Pour maybe a cupful of the antifreeze down the drain to protect the trap. Try using only a pint or a quart of antifreeze in the tank, add more if needed. You will want to flush the tank in the spring so the less antifreeze in the tank the quicker and easier that will be. Note--RV antifreeze is not poisonous nor harmful but as much as possible you still should avoid consuming it. Good luck.
  12. Zep on gelcoat; it is Wet Look Floor Finish. At Home Depot or Menard's one gallon for $24.99. Don't know about Lowes. This is not meant for gelcoat but I am using it and so far like it. Be sure to clean the gelcoat extremely well before putting it on. The bottle does not say anything about UV inhibitors and I doubt there are any. The more coats the better especially on Dolphins ( like mine ) and Sea Breezes.
  13. On the exterior do you have a connection for a water hose? Is there a water heater, and if so does it have a bypass?
  14. I appreciate the heads up on their pricing and coupons. I will have to be doing extra work if I go there.
  15. The most common problem with toyhouses is wood rot from water leaks. Often you cannot see it but have to feel it or hear it when tapping. Places to check: 1) just under the overcab bed's front window and the side windows 2) the deck of the overcab bed 3) all around each roof vent 4) the top inch of each side wall from very back to very front. Don't skip inside the upper cabinets 5) immediately behind the kitchen sink check both countertop and adjoining wall 6) both back corners where the side wall joins the back wall 7) the first two or three inches above the shower pan. Not trying to scare you about this. I really like toyhouses and I'm on my third. Water stains are not a problem as long as the leak has been sealed. Plywood that is de-laminating is not bad as long as the leak is sealed. Wood that is soft or crumbly is rotting and has no strength. It will continue to slowly rot further even if it doesn't get wet. Sure hope the one you look at is okay.
  16. Lots of applause here for that year and a half, 86rader. May you stay with it the rest of your life. And congrats on being up front.
  17. I'll back up Derek. I had an 87 Dolphin and have a 90 Dolphin and both had 14X14 roof vents, so be confident that Dolphin did it in 89 also.
  18. My wife and I would like to see this. Only about 610 miles one way. We should be able to come.
  19. There are antennas made specifically for Wi-Fi.. I don't know what they look like but maybe somebody else does. Could that be what this is?
  20. 94 Warrior, both cab locks will turn clockwise easily but neither will go counter-clockwise unless I just get lucky. I wonder if carb cleaner into the key slot would be effective and save all that dis-assembly and re-assembly?
  21. Welcome to Toyota motor homes and to this discussion board. I have had 87 and 90 Dolphins. By the photos I'd say yours is in better shape than many. I can see the roof sag in two of your photos and have to tell you that my 90 has the same sag in the same place. Leaks can cause three kinds of water damage: staining, delamination of interior plywood, and rot. Fixing leaks will stop the stains and delamination but NOT stop rot. Any rot will need repair if you are going to keep this toyhouse for very long. Check the kitchen countertop behind the sink, and the wall where the counter fits against it. This is a common place for rot. Also look for rot in the over-cab bunk just below the front window, especially near both ends of the window. Another rot spot in Dolphins is the two back corners, one in the shower and the other in the closet. If you get the furnace to go, don't be surprised if the fan squeals. There are other posts here to go to if you have that problem. The electric heater in the photo will keep you comfortable in temps down to 40 or even the mid 30's. Will it shut off immediately if it tips over? On the outside older Dolphins ( and Sea Breezes ) are prone to crack the fiberglass panel beginning at the top right corner of the house doorway and going almost straight up to the roof. If yours cracks there it lets rain into your wall, especially if you are going 55mph in the rain. I couldn't see this area in your photos so I hope yours is intact. You have a very nice spot to park for the winter. Never forget YOU CAN DO THIS.
  22. One other consideration is vertical room or headroom in the overcab bunk. The Sunrader has less. For some people this means nothing. For others it is very important. Your choice.
  23. My brother mounted a bike carrier to his rear bumper (not on a toy but a 28ft trailer. Still it is the same 4in square with drain hose inside.) After less than a year carrying two bicycles his bumper has developed a very noticeable twist right at the bike carrier. He is trying to figure a new mounting but hasn't succeeded yet. My previous toy had a homebrew trailer hitch that was welded to the frame rails for MORE THAN THREE FEET FORWARD from the back end of the rails. I used a hitch mount bike rack for two bikes and it was solid and trustworthy.
  24. My first and second toys had 6325 Magnetek and I left them alone. Current toy had a 6332 and the converter/charger section was really overheating. That's why I replaced mine.
