  1. The same, of course, would apply to Canadians visiting the US. That said, I've never heard mention of this 'Canadian auto insurance card' before. I spent 8 years working in NY and crossed the border (twice) every week and never had a question about my insurance. So, about 400 crossings into the US and 400 into Canada.
  2. Sarnia - Niagara is 190 mile so you might make it on a tank. Regular gas will be just under $1 (Can) /liter if you get nervous and want to throw in $20 (about 5 gallons(US)). Probably a good idea to have a letter from your Grandchildren's parents giving you permission to take them out of the country. Kidnappings, you know. Radar detectors prohibited. Pitbulls too. Leave your guns at home. Seatbelts required all the time for everyone. Happy trails.
  3. PONT-X https://pontxadventures.wordpress.com/2014/06/06/its-not-a-chinook/ I must admit, I didn't know they also 'stick-built'.
  4. Campervan, I believe, made by Ci AUTOHOMES UK LTD. Those who don't object to Google might find this interesting. https://books.google.ca/books?id=EjjzCwAAQBAJ&pg=PT141&lpg=PT141&dq=Ci+AUTOHOMES+UK+LTD&source=bl&ots=W7tRhZ1YjX&sig=nPrFojV3gZ5q5o9REWl2ZrkkzeU&hl=en&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwjZtJOy5IHNAhUlxYMKHV2CDAAQ6AEIQTAH#v=onepage&q=Ci AUTOHOMES UK LTD&f=false Pictures of a 'minter' (as the Brits say):- http://auction.catawiki.com/kavels/2398949-ford-transit-mki-originele-autohome-1976 It's amazing what my friend finds!
  5. Oh, and it was originally registered in Preston, Lancashire.
  6. Only the 'Doc Martin' camper above is a diesel. The extended nose is the giveaway. The Number Plate would have been issue between 1 August 1976 & 31 July 1977.
  7. Waiter reported successfully using an 'ordinary' microwave off his batteries with his engine idling at the same time. I don't remember how many watts.
  8. Don't feel you have to break the internet tradition for me. Another of my favorite 'mystery' charts are the ones for ATF fluid temps/transmission life. None seem to be published by ATF manufacturers or transmission suppliers. Just by people with transmission coolers they're trying to sell. And of course no test procedures, just pretty charts with lots of colours.
  9. My observation? I'm guessing the 5 charts you collected did not provide a source? Just like you didn't with yours.
  10. Not the most helpful, but I'm going to say it'll depend on what it is and where it is. Also, where you are! If I was in SoCal where you could count on weeks on end of sunny weather with 0% chance of rain, I'd be more inclined to remove the outside. But up here the weather's more fickle so I'd try to leave the skin intact while I worked. Of course, if you've a garage to work in, things change too.
  11. But if you want nothing but the BEST:- http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Brand-New-Genuine-Honda-Optimate-5-Battery-Charger-Optimiser-Conditioner-/170800835371
  12. Or keep things simple and buy one of these:- http://www.harborfreight.com/automatic-battery-float-charger-42292.html
  13. I'd feel safer and rather tow a 500lb (50-75lb tongue wt) trailer than have a 500lb loaded rear platform.
  14. I think that if the manufacturers were more honest, they would say "The frame extensions we add are so marginal that you shouldn't put any weight on the rear bumper. They are barely able to support what we've added."! If you're comfortable towing a trailer, go for it. The biggest difficulty I see is when reversing. Short trailer, out of sight, could be challenging. I'm sure a back-up camera would help.
  15. Orange is a City in Orange County.
  16. Same name, same general field. Certainly worth a call (or e-mail) to them to see if they know anything.
  17. The same way the isolator stops your coach from running down your chassis/cab battery while boondocking, it should/will also isolate the cab battery from you charger. If you often park for extended periods you could bypass the isolator while parked with a 'jumper'. Your cab battery might also be getting near the end of it's life.
  18. So who is the Manufacturer? There might already be en expert here!
  19. Floors and walls. What were we thinking?? Hopefully NOT something that will come back into fashion! The ceiling looks like stucco. Another faux-pas!!
