  1. can be eather way check them frozen joints can damage the diff bearings. check them to see if they have g rese fittings. even if they can be lubed and no one did they are probly junk. if they are sealed YOU CAN REPLACE THEM WITH GREASABLE ONES i would not install anything else. ANY NOISE AT ALL I AM SHURE THEY ARE JUNK and DANGEROUS BAD JOINTS CAN COME APART IS THERE A THIRD CENTER U JOINT CHANGE ALL THREE

  3. ..Vanman those strange vacum hoses to the manifold are correct but i dont rember what they do. as i recall the carb eng does not have those. will look in fsm book. 88 4wd same thing. my 87 dolphin also . the book says electronic and vacoum controled PROGRESSIVE POWER STEARING. WARNING USE ONLY DEXRON ATF IN THE POWER STEARING. little hoses go to what is called air control valve ALSO A LARGE FLARE NUT WRENCH SLOTTED BOX TYPE IS WHAT SHOULD BE USED ON THE FITTINGS

  5. aslong as you can turn them by hand should be ok i would them wear in a bit see how they are disc aways have some contact all the time. if you cant turn them by hand then you may have a stuck claiper. does not happen often happened to me on a toyota wagen somtime ago. my 1988 4wd xtra cab squecks like you describe. the brakes are fine somtimes stops when you hit it lite. done that all years i have had it. bought a 1987 dolphin 60000 miles in nov our 7th toyota over the last 35 years togeter

  8. you should be able to just remove the top of the carb itself. and yes the idle fuel level is right in the middle of the window. how is the filter and the fuel pump. are you shure that the clutch is not slipping.
  9. just rembered on 22r take the tank side fuel line off the pump and blow air back in the tank .sometimes many years of crud canplug in the tank
  10. THE 22RE EFI IS IN THE TANK THE CARB 22R SHOULD BE A NON ELETRIC PUMP ON THE FRONT OF THE ENG. the RUBBER DIAFRAMS IN THOSE CAN RUPT UER . IF you take of the valve cover on the 22 r only you can see the arm of the fuel pump on the cam this type of pump can leak gas out in the moter through bad diafram . dont run it just turn over a little to check.

  12. fuel pump could be but i would change the fuel filter first then try it. have seen filters full of crap. Idle ok but chocke out at speed

  14. thanks guys no big deal for me if the xtra roter i have had for some time doesnt fit the dolphin. it fits my 88 4wd xtra cab.
  15. my dolphin 4oo auto is a 22re 4 . the stick is not real grat took me while to find it. only had since novmber so dont rember will check tommorw . MY dauter had a 2004 malibo six it had no stick and no provision for one. BOOK quote TAKE TO DEALER TO CHECK if leaks spend 1000 doolors to fix my qote. MORE GREAT IDEAS FROM GM MORONS
  16. i dont know where you live i dont buy that stuff online a lot of people do. do you have napa or carquest . have used monroe shocks before good ok . have a set of heavy duty gas shocks on my 88 4wd xtra cab. as i am 59 i understand the power stearing lack of. i bleve it could be done you have to change the stering box . geting the whole pump and mouintings from a yard is possable is that a 22r 4cyl. order as a 2wd truck for bushings tri to get polyurthane much better then the old rubber

Bigdog are those glass fuses in that picture . glass fuses if they are really old can litteraly fall apart and still look good . had it happen to me before .77 toyota started have light problems. fuses all looked a1 but on a load test they were no good. a pro toyota mec told about this. i replaced all fuses with new ones and fix no more trouble. ps they tested ok on oms but on a load light no good.

    soory i am not up on the newer models like the t 100 is that the small truck in the later years. i have a 1988 22re 4wd xtra cab with the sr5 upgrades my 87 dolphin is ex the same inside same color dash carpet ex it has the plain spedo no tac 2 gages.
  19. can anyone tell me if the brake roters roters only are different between a six lug 4wd and the 6 lug one ton i know of course the final lug pateran is differant. but would it fit on the hub. 19 87
  20. does that have adaptr or anything on it my 1978 20r minmax has an aftermarket eng oil cooler fitted to a replacement filter adapter plate and takes a big ford oil filter.
  21. back in the 1970s the factury toyota oil filter was full size. somtime in the mid 80s the local dealer told me that toyota downsized their filters for the 20r. and indeed they were much smaller diamater but still worked fine if you lost oil it mabe the wrong filter. 1977 toyota wagen 78 truck 78 moterhome all 20r

    Maybe i am incorrect i have done auto work i always consider the battery the weakest link in the system. take the battery to a trusted shop and checked on a load teast machine i owen a old old one uses a carbon pile restance .battery may and can have volts but under a load test draw test go flat right now one shure way to know
  23. ok cant advice there see a lot with 5 lug front i am shure the 6 lug is better big brakes one wheel fits all.
  24. You guys are right on a red light means run it manners and safty have gone selfish is in for me never been south the worst people drivers etc etc i have seen denver col dont need to go there agin
