  1. Oh, yeah. If you go to Miata.net forum, they will tell you to hit the redline with each shift. Mpgs not so good, then.
  2. I get between 13.5 and 16 mpg with my 84 Toyhome. The Miata 39 mpg was on one tankful. Top up, maybe with a tailwind and down hill, but factual. Usually get 35 or so on trips, otherwise. No, I don't want to sell it. I've always wanted one & I plan to keep it for a long time. Just wanted you guys to know that they are great little roadsters.
  3. I know how to compute mpgs. It depends on how you drive. I had a 5 spd. I rarely drove over 60 mph on that trip. Used the backroads a lot. I wouldn't even own one, if the mpgs were that bad (under 30 mpg). If you've got a lead foot, the mid 30s ain't gonna happen. I'm not going to argue. I know what I've got. Peace!
  4. Very nice looking Toyhome for someone who needs a bed on the lower level. The rear bed style is quite rare. I enjoy sleeping in my loft, for as long as I can navigate up there. So far, so good!
  5. I love my Miata! I've owned my 96 Miata since 2000. It was an Alabama car. I store it winters, here in MN, so zero rust. I got 39mpg on a trip to the west coast. Just sayin..... If they weren't built for performance, they probably would get a lot more mpgs. But then they wouldn't be as much fun to drive. People tend to wind em out, which brings the fuel economy down. Awesome little sportscar that I'll be holding on to, for a long time. Sorry about the topic diversion. Just had to tell you about my experience with my 96.
  6. Doesn't look like it has the cab AC button. The spot is there, but no button? Maybe no AC.
  7. Usually, I can level my truck by moving on the site. I, too, use the Legos in the handy square cube carrying case. Handy?? You betcha! I use the Lego cube for an arm rest , in between the bucket seats, when traveling. Works like it belongs there.
  8. Use some towels from walmart that go with your interior. That's what I'm doing until I find the right material to reupholster them.
  9. The galley wall corner area by the range looks funky. What could've caused that?
  10. Jeepers! Was looking in my tool drawer in my Toyhome. I got mice, already, just sitting in the driveway! I set a trap and got one. Gotta get that "fresh cab" stuff, today!
  11. I can get more channels on my batwing tv antenna, with booster, than I can at home with basic cable. Depends on your location, while parked. Works quite well imho.
  12. I don't believe that every Toyota motorhome is made strong enough for a 200 lb person to be walking on it. That doesn't mean that the roof is bad. Maybe the newer ones are built with a stronger roof? I've never walked on mine. It looks good and its never leaked. I want it to stay that way.
  13. A lot of excellent advice! Thank you! We never stop learning.
  14. I spent Feb down in Phoenix area. Found out that the Walmarts, in that area, frown on a RV spending the night in their lot. I found other places, including a church property, that I could stay once in a while. They were just like family to me. The rest areas were nice. Course you can just park in the desert, but being a gal alone, I'd rather have people around. It's great to escape a MN winter and return with a nice tan.
  15. Apparently, something wasn't quite right with the source. I noticed that my charge light wasn't on. None of the breakers appeared to have flipped off, but I flipped all the breakers at the source and left them on. I plugged back in and checked my charge light. It was on! No problems! It must have tripped the outside source, even though it didn't appear to. Something learned: Never assume that you didn't trip a breaker, just because it doesn't look like it. Just flip em and try again. Thank God it wasn't anything in my Toy that went bad. Happy trails, everyone!
  16. I put in a new Dometic fridge in mine. It wasn't cheap. $800 plus. Was worth it to me, though. Maybe yours can be fixed? I will go to Fleet Farm and try your mouse repellant, this year. Thanx for sharing! Tudy Camping in Lanesboro, MN right now. From Waseca, MN
  17. I was doing great for 4 days camping. Cool mornings, so I was glad that I had decided to bring my oil circulating radiant heater along. 3 mornings with no problems and comforting warmth for the chilly mornings. Then on my last day, with the heater and 19 in Lcd tv on, I plugged in the toaster. A couple minutes later, I heard a click and everything went off. Oh, oh! Must have tripped a breaker! I looked. I have 2 breakers. 1 20 amp for ac, that I don't have, and 1 15 amp outlet breaker. The ac breaker has always been off. The 15 amp outlet breaker was still on. I turned the appliances off. I turned the 15 amp breaker off, then on again. Still no power. I checked my outside power source. It was fine. No problem there. So...... Is my breaker broke or what? I know that I, probably, over loaded the circuit. But since it didn't seem to trip, did it break or what? How can I tell & what do I do? In the meanwhile, I unplugged and am using my good old heavy duty extension cord. Thanx for the help. Tudy 84 Dolphin (Cricket) Lanesboro, MN
  18. I love my escape hatch vent, over my bed. On starry or moonlit nights, I crank it wide open and do some star/moon gazing. One time, while camping, there were to be shooting stars in the north, late at night. I opened the hatch and watched them, while in my pajamas, from my bed.
  19. Amazing! That interior shot of the early 80s Dolphin 300, looks exactly like my 84. I love the floorplan and the 4 spd stick shift. The outside is the same, but without the third axel. Thank you for the neat brochure pic.
  20. I thought that I should be able to buy it new. Where did you get it? You'd think that they would all use the same size insert. Is your channel piece 1 1/4 inch wide?
  21. I need a replacement. The original is not as supple as it once was. It slips out of the channel and just hangs. My RV shop says, just screw it in, but I'll only do that as a last resort. Don't they make rolls of this stuff, so you can get what you need? The channel is about 1.25 inches wide. The trim is about an inch wide. It goes on the side edge of each side of the overhead bunk, so it is curved around. I would appreciate any help I can get. Thanx!
  22. #1 definitely had/has issues in the bunk area. The front window in bunk, doesn't look to be sealed well. The outside of bunk has had some repairs. There appears to be a dorm fridge installed in the kitchen area. Mine is a 300 model, too, so I noticed that. The stick is nice to have, but Im afraid that this one has coach issues. #2 definately has airbag issues. I noticed that they have an innerspring mattress over the bunk mattress. Hmm... There goes the headroom. If this has the HD axel, it -might- be the best of the two. There's a lot to check over, first, though. Definitely check them out. But, as was mentioned, earlier, don't be too hasty.
  23. Sounds like a great idea! Our Toyhomes are getting older and need updating, every so often. If you don't keep working on updates/repairs, it could get overwhelming. Let us know how it turns out.
