    Converter

YES, the factory converter only charges at a couple of amps, so your generator would need to run for hours. A modern 3 stage converter will charge at 30-90 amps depending on the converter, so your generator won't have to run as long. Most of us have 45 or 60 amp converters
  2. Coach=??? Truck or house?
  3. 13-15mpg is "normal"for 4cylinder and a bit less for the v-6 MPG killers are 1. SPEED 55 vs 65 is about 2 mpg 2. Improper tire pressure 55-60 psi is average 3 Need a proper tune-up including a valve adjustment. If you have a 4cyl forget about the O/D on a stock unit. Improper temp can reduce the mpg some also.
  4. Get some blue painters tape. Start with the 1/4 or 1/2" wide stuff and layout the edges of where you want to caulk. Then use the 1" stuff to prevent boo boos. Smooth on the caulk and pull off the tape for a neat edge.
  5. You need a smarter charger, failing that plug the converter/charger in to a simple110v on/off timer. The timer for 1 hour 3 or 4 times a day. This will let you keep your Toy plugged in and prevent the battery from freezing.. Still need to eyeball the water level once a month until you can determine how much water the battery is using and then develop a watering schedule. DONT forget to turn the timer ON when your camping
  6. If you're going to do something to the rear end, change the spring bushings. The change is remarkable when the springs and shocks work together.
  7. If you just have to really know what happened, just pull the old cable out of the housing and look at the worn place. I have seen 3 causes for cable failure. 1 It just wore out 2 Some one burned the cable on the outside with a gas torch. 3 Some one used an arc welder with the ground hooked to the wrong spot. This will heat up the inner cable and melt thenylon liner, letting the inner cable rub on the outer seath and wearing things out.
  8. I can't imagine how many of the 86 Toy MH are still out there, but you have become the official Toyota parts guy lifesaver of those who have one.
  9. If you open the refer door and get on your knees anything?? The AC/gas control SHOULD??? be by the thermostat for the refer, its a rotary dial switch
  10. Check the door under the refer. Most of the controls are usually located on the bottom frame of the unit. You have to open the door to see them.
  11. Welcome to the world of old and slow #1 There should be an AC power cord accessible from the out side. It should have a 110 plug, it may have a 30 amp plug and an adapter to a house hold outlet. Plug it into power and then find the switch on the refer that says AC/Gas switch to AC and wait 3-4 hours and then see if anything inside the refer is getting cold.. VERY IMPORTANT, the refer must be level. #2An RV store should have a leak check fluid. OR just mix up soapy water and dribble on each joint you can find. Light the stove first, then water heater and then the refer. Make sure there is water in the heater before you light it.
  12. Lots of Vanagons around here with 2.5 L Subies in the back. There was a local guy who did a neat conversion. They were popular, but he stopped doing them as the conversions were interrupting his fishing time. Priorities ya know. Saw a t-shirt the other day for this situation......" You say psychotic like its a bad word"
  13. I made a curtain for my toy. Used it in the summer to help the cab AC work properly, also in the winter just for the reason you spoke of. It also works at night to help keep the house warmer. When parked there is a big heat loss through the cab.
  14. You can buy aftermarket MBZ grills for the Sprinter van
  15. Kool, My monitor is small and I can't read the fine print, how about a P/N for the left hand studs and nuts for the 86 Toyotas that had the 1 ton rear but 5 lug fronts from the factory?
  16. Like wow I need to get a set of those decals and but them on my 26 ft Class A and see if we can keep this food fight going.
  17. If you just can't find your ghost go the E bay and get a small solar panel that will plug into the cig lighter. Try a search for VW solar panel. VW uses these by the hundreds when cars sit in the off load storage lots.
  18. Turn on all the lights in the camper and then flip the switch. Some times there is a turn on one light switch for entry in the dark

    Favorite grill

Redneck grill, use a replacement BBQ grill. Some refer shelves are Cad or Chrome plated, not something you want to heat up and cook your lunch on.
  21. Don't forget weep holes in the frame. It seems there are leaks and then there is condensation. Both need a a way to "relieve" them self.
  22. The simple answer is to use bottled water and flush with a water/antifreeze mix.

Yea but then your not Kool
  24. Not impressive, just a bad turn of the weather on a business trip. With out the 110v heater I don't think the propane would have keep up. Major fun pulling a 5x8 trailer, across packed ice covered roads with a 40 mph crosswind, over South Pass in the Rockies.. I've spent lots of time camping at 10-20 degrees above. Its much more pleasant with just some small lifestyle adjustments.

Yep the Cobb is sometime shy on the searing, that's what the cheap grill is for. But veggies, corn, potatoes, small roast and whole chickens its totally awesome. You also need to WAIT until its hot enough to do what you want, rushing a meal on a Cobb doesn't work very good. BTW "loading up" a Cobb is only 8-9 charcoal brickets
