  1. id try pl 400 or some other polyurethane based const adh. on a sample. Curious do you plan on gluing alum to plywood from below in between framing or glue them together then screw down together?
  2. Oh boy, well i thought the same thing during my demo of my 86 Shasta. Check burnt shasta post for more details and picts. Located in general folder. Hope to post new picts soon. I was working outside so you have advantage of being indoors. If i were to do again and inside i would think about removing siding. Too bad siding is so expensive else you could demo whole thing. The funny thing is there werent any studs in my shasta. framing was around windows and more above cab than anywhere else. But i had to put framing for paneling seams. Couldnt think of any other way. Just remember ext siding is glued to insulation which is glued to interior paneling. At least in shasta, hope helps [ My question is, if I wanted to re-frame the whole interior how would I go about it? I noticed while doing the little bit I have that the insides of these werent made to come apart very easy and it would almost seem easier to remove the siding and go at it from there. I'm also having a h*%# of a time removing the refrigerator. Does anyone make a diy manual for one of these lol? I will post some pics soon thanks in advance.
  3. I'm in the same boat as you! I wish i paid better attention as others have posted before. Seems running a dorm fridge of inverter fries the fridge. I was looking at these on ebay. Rather small but heck at $120 you could get a couple. Wonder if they work well? http://cgi.ebay.com/Avanti-SHP1702-Cube-Superconductor-Refrigerator-/170631568679?pt=Refrigerators&hash=item27ba6f1d27#ht_500wt_1043
  4. i like the different low profile headrests.
  5. I bought and received cover from steve j 's link and never installed it. lst on my list of repairs but i wonder if i bought the newer one as well? ha
  6. Any luck wih resizing picts?. Right click on image. dont know the price of balsa but cedar is lighter than pine you might want to look into.
  7. Try resizing them in your pc picture viewer just right-click and resize small or medium. hope it helps would like to see em ive been tryin to upload pictures for along time now. there jpegs round 3mb. anyone willin to receive the pics through email and post em here for me. i go to gallery new image upload file photo and submit and it fails every time. the 2lt and earlier diesels were sold in north america for a few short years 1985 being the last year, but there rare there common in canada and cheaper.
  8. Sorry I dont have a Sunrader but I had the same problem with my Shasta. No framing so i installed some every 48inches so i could install paneling. Ive seen picts in here where someone has replace paneling by compressing paneling to insulation to siding of rv. They used windows and opening to allow blocking and screws to not penetrate siding. hope info helps
  9. I'm rebuilding rear framing for seats in a rear dinette/bed model Shasta Revere. How high are your rear couch seats without cushions, etc? I'm looking for any rear seat height not just a Shasta! Thanks for any responses.
  10. Could you explain the peel-ply and what kind of sealer? All that was under my pan was 4-5 stacked pieces of ridgid blue insulation which raised pan off of floor to provide for p-trap. thanks for post from another cracked shower pan owner
  11. Like the previous poster said u probably got rot. Ive attached a photo to show what may be below your bed. The wood is glued and screwed to the sheetmetal roof of the cab of the truck. Ive replaced my framing with wider stock. hope it helps
  12. I would say quite rare. Mirages came on toyotas nissans and chevy s-10.I ve seen a 2wd s-10 and thought wow, didnt know they came on those. As far as 4x4 motorhome that puts you in another category and then add 6 cyl you got quite a ride. Although i have no info on your engines reliability etc. Does yours have the rear bath bubble? How are your front bubble windows? Does the fridge and heat work? Does it have AC? Ive got some picts on here show me yours. I like my Mirage and have had it awhile.good luck
  13. Nice ! What size tarp do you use?
  14. i too have condesation under mattress. Just thought it was my windows leaking. oh boy
  15. Ouch! Go for it. Start with looking for windows. Do you think you can salvage the sheetmetal siding. Is if you can, just bend that metal roof framing back, install a couple new studs to support metal framing. Save old wooden window frames and make new frames.Repanel the interior crushed section, install new/used windows and you'll be one your way. Good luck Oh can you tell me about your overhead bed set-up looks like you modified it a bit. Thanks
  16. Am I doing this right? I would like to go through and rebed the other windows, but I am unsure as to whether it makes the most sense to keep these foam gaskets if intact or to double up butyl tape, or what. Wisdom would be appreciated. Mike in Watsonville Sorry my windows didnt have gasket just putty tape.Is your siding corrugated or flat? I rebed all my windows with butyl tape and i have corrugated siding. On the second window i learned here to double it up just where siding is low to fill gap. I still wasnt that pleased with tightness of window either. I had several screws snap when removing interior window frame. So i had to remove broken screws from window to allow new screws to go into window. Anyone replace interior rubber gasket? happy windows
  17. I like the salvage yard idea! I just rebuilt my entire door and it wasn't easy. I bought sheets of frp from lows and cut them to width. One good one bad. Cut and planed new wood for three sides and lock assembly. One side of door frame is all metal. Glued old strofoam to new frp. Screwed new wood to old metal frame to put it all back together. I think new frp is thicker than what they originally used cause it wasn't easy. Screwed back into door frame and it wouldnt close! On my door frame catch i have a removable steel peice which sticks out just alittle to catch door. Well i just need that little bit. Looks like i have to remove entire door frame to remove that piece. HA ha So lesson look for one one the salvage yard!
  18. Congrats on new RV! There are hatch covers which extend the life of these flimsy vents/hatches. Although you might be due for a replacment of vent. To replace vent is somewhat easy depending on how much roof cement and goop is on top of hatch. You need to remove screws holding vent to roof which are on top of roof. Then pry with stiff putty knife old vent from roof. Lay new butly tape around perimeter of new vent and screw down vent to clean roof. Heat helps in removing old tape and caulk but try without first. Finish by applying bead of caulking around new vent for extra protection. Vent are available at most rv shops. As far as your roof being flimsy and questionable. I can cofirm so at least on my 86 Shasta. There are some better built toys but if yours is similar to mine i have pity on it. My entire roof had two 1x3's laying down {giving the least strenth} to support the AC and thats it. The rest of the roof was unsupported. Made of thin sheetmetal glued to ridgid inblue insulation glued to ceiling of rv making a sandwich which is pretty strong but not meant to walk on nor storage. The heavy ac will always make a low spot in your roof and pool water leadind to leakage. They never built them strong enough to hold ac from day one. I am in the process of slowly rebuilding mine and have finished rebuiding my roof using 2x3's layed on edge glued and screwed to 1x...4 i think . then i layed 3/8 ply on top.some picts search under burnt shasta.
  19. Hi Bruce search for burnt shasta in forum. I have a lot of picts on the post and i just edited it to make it easier to see them. I need to take some more picts but this should get you going.
  20. I did mine a while back at a leaf spring place. I think they added a couple leafs. Would recommend, improved ride seems stiffer. Try a truck leaf spring place. I guess its a specialty as regular mechanics dont seem to replace them. GD
  21. I also have same axle as pict. Many posts on this subject and many diff answers. I dont plan on changing mine and i'll get alot of remarks for sayin that. One side of mine wobbles. I can see it in rearview and vehicles behind can see wobble. i think it started when one stud thread broke off and got it welded back on. Any bad 5lug rims 4sale in northeast?
  22. I too posted this same problem a while back, but ended up breaking the flange off. Its called a closet flange which is quite fitting for your application. I dont have sunrader but needed to remove and replace floor which is why i needed to remove flange. I think someone said thats its glued to waste tank and to drop tank to remove. That would have worked for me but i broke flange instead. You have a little diff problem. With it holding bath unit in. Dont think dropping tank would help you. Protect the bath pan. I havnt reinstalled toilet yet but i did find closet flange available after i broke it off. They come in diff sizes. I still need to remove tank to remove rest of broken flange. http://cgi.ebay.com/...8#ht_1652wt_657
  23. On my 10,000 mile trip around the country i remember crossing Under the Continental Divide on I-70 in Colorado which tops out over 11,000ft doing under 20mph but i made it and that was on a bad tranny. But i remember it and thats what i was out for, memories. These 22re's take a beating as well as the transmissions.Have yet to find a hill she wont climb...except when snow is on the ground. love the pict of 80mph!! go for it
  24. My shasta 22re which has been sitting for over a year has intermittent starting problems. Ive been starting it every month to give it use etc.Sometimes there was clicking noise when i tried starting, figured i needed a starter. So had friend hit starter and it started. This went on for six months. Just got around to replacing starter with autozone reman and same click after install. Again hit it with pipe and it started. Ran for a couple hours with heat on circulated things and turned off, again no start and clicking. You think new reman starter is no good? Any suggs?
  25. Heres a link to picts of my floor removed. Its an 86 SHasta revere with aluminum floor joists. There was a layer of screwed plywood then luan/paneling glued to ridgid foam insulation thats in between joists with sheetmetal skin underneath facing pavement. I replaced old ply floor with primed 3/4 ac ply. hope this helps.
