  1. Headliner fabric is available at Hancock Fabrics. In the upholstey section in big rolls. You can ask for the fabric with the foam backing. It's 12.99 a yard and they have some colors in 60 inch wide and some in 54 inch wide. You install it with 3m spray glue, High strength, heat resistant, find it in the auto section at Walmart. You can seam it so you can make it wide enough but seam from side to side and glue seams down before putting it up. Takes patience and some extra hands help. Start in the middle of the front and work out. and then work towards the back. Linda S
  2. Checked your profile and looks like your near the Mexican border. Yes it is busier down there than here. Also daughter says a special check area where they are more careul than other places in Cal because of the border. She says 2 weeks is good time down there for CHP appointment. She never heard of CHP offices that do vin checks but not campers. There is no vin in the camper part only the cab so what is their excuse Linda S
  3. I'm in Santa Clara county, San Jose. I just drove over there and they did it right away. I can't imagine other offices being busier than here. Waiting for a call from my daughter who works at DMV to call and tell me where you should go. Finding a partial number won't do it. Where are you located? Linda S
  4. Well it's DMV who verifies the vehicle and they know where to look. . If they can't find the other vin because someone made modifications and removed it they just send you to CHP and they will give you a vin verification to take back to DMV. it's not a big deal. I had to go the CHP route with a Canadian vehicle. Linda S
  5. Nexen SV820. These are the tires that are available at Les Swab. They put their name on them but Nexen makes the LS
  6. Yes I believe Derek is right. Early ones with the fake duallies are supposed to be 3.9's. Wouldn't hurt to bump it up a little. Reduce engine lugging. LS
  7. Ask everyone with a Toyota if you can try their key. Friend of mine did the same thing and I opened his door with a key I had from a Toyota years earlier. Seems like theft isn't a big problem in Japan Linda
  8. Bargman 1400 was used on many motorhomes through at least the mid 90's. Good possibility of finding them at a wrecking yard that has Rv's. I have also considered the frame to install the newer smaller lights. I don't think it would be that hard to take piece of white plastic and cut it out to frame the larger opening. I've seen cutting boards at Ross that would work ls
  9. You might be right. I just remember it was really big for a little motorhome Linda
  10. The pics Of the 78 motorhome I posted belong to Sunrader Bob. He owns the toyota motorhome tech site. I'm sure he would be happy to answer any other questions you have about his rig. He sold it but he's a stickler for details so I'm sure he can give you the height. Bed is front to back sleeping like a chinook and it's a full queen size http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/Toyota_Motorhome_Tech/ LS
  11. Yes the back door hinges up like the other one. I'm told the headroom is higher on these. here are some pics of a 78 Sunrader motorhome. The coach and interior are the same as the truck camper but this one has had some remodeling done and of course there is a little more room around the bottom because of no truck bed http://s363.photobucket.com/albums/oo73/advocateone/1978%20Sunrader/ Top mold is identical to the truck camper and the overhead bed has a much higher ceiling. I could sleep in one of these up there but I fell my 86 Sunrader is too low or comfort. Only bottom mold is different LS
  12. They made 2 sizes. One for the Toyota and another one for full sized trucks. Don't have any pics but I've seen plenty sitting nicely on the back of a Toyota. Opps found one on this site LS
  13. This place near you has the axle but your going to need the wheels to. Call them and see if they have the wheels that go with this axle. Of course you need to be able to do the work to or the price goes through the roof. http://www.rigsbysautosalvage.com/ Or you could just be patient and wait until the right rig comes up. In Florida there are usually tons of toyota motorhomes that come up for sale. If I was you I wold wait to find one that didn't need so much Linda S
  14. If Gail is going I'm am too. Let me know how I sign up Linda S
  15. Really nothing beats a gas fridge. I would keep and eye out on craigslist for people parting out campers. Gosh the Baja guy on this site just gave away a fridge almost just like yours but in California. I see them often on craigslist. If there are any pick and pull type wrecking yards near you they sometimes have old RV's that might have fridges. Also your profile says WI and MO. If you ever go anywhere near Carthage MO, the biggest rv salvage yard in the country is there. LS
  16. I found a Keystone and a Huntsman like you descrpbe on Tampa craigslist. I can't be sure but neither of them look like a full float axle. Check them out and if not keep looking LS
  17. Drain tubes for the vent area under the windsheild might be glogged. Clean with pipe cleaners or blow out with air compresser. or could be heater cable comes in the sidewall there. Mine used to leak there but I siliconed it and never has leaked again. Need to find out quick cause your computer is there on the sidewall. Don't let it get wet L S
  18. Look at them again and see if one of them has a 6 lug axle in the back. If neither of them does keep shopping. 5 lug recalled years ago. Can be dangerous. I they both do have 6 lugs the Huntsman is more well known and there were changes made in 84 toyota chassis which would make it a more prefered coach. Linda S
  19. The camper you posted is an Odyssey. Looks to be in good shape, low miles and the price is decent. Odyssey's have the most headroom of any Toyota rv and are roomier because they are a little wider too. Not my favorite color upholstery but it does look to be in good shape. Get out there and drive as many as you can find. Check all the stuff the other guys said cause new appliances or heater can cost big bucks. LS
  20. One other thing or 2. This should have been posted in general discussion or somewhere else to get the most responses. And get a tarp or some cover over it to prevent further damage until you can find someone to fix it LS
  21. The window in the front needs to be removed and reinstalled with the locking rubber gasket that it was installed with in the first place. Many auto glass shops carry this kind of gasket material. You just need to find someone willing to do the job. There is another possibility though and that could be a leaking clearence light. Sounds like more water than that would cause though. The cabinet in the bathroom issue. There is a window above there too. Could be the window or leaking plumbing. Those flat windows are resealed with butyl tape. Window is removed and cleaned and then reinstalled with butyl tape. Not difficult but if you don't know how to do it probably should go to an rv repair guy. Sometimes you can find reasonable workers on craigslist. Those front windows are only available one place and it's in California. Quite expensive too LS
  22. There are pics somewhere on this site of a ac unit installed so it sits above the fridge. House ac units need to drain and he put in drainage tube back where the cooling unit is. LS
  23. No the mileage is good. At higher speeds the v6 Nissan beats my Toyota 4 banger. Same size Sunraders LS
  24. Sent you my phone number. Will be in Sacramento from the 26th thru the 28th if you pick it up by Christmas. Live in San Jose. if you decide you want to get the timing belt done my Son-in-law did mine. In Sac area. Easier to come down to 80 to go cross country anyway. Just give me a call Linda
