  1. I like that it fit between the hitch carrier and the camper. Didn't know that's where you put it. Got to look at mine with the carrier on again. Same one you have. Was wondering how I could fit a generator and still get my boat on the carrier. Think this might work Linda S
  2. Like this one? I just did a really quick search. Might be cheaper on Amazon or another ebay seller but they are out there Linda S http://www.ebay.com/itm/like/391510973087?lpid=82&chn=ps&ul_noapp=true
  3. Well it doesn't specify what requirement for gas detectors had changed. There were many changes and at some point those gas detectors were required to be linked to a tank shut off valve. The shut off valve was also no longer required at a later date. In fact the date of this document is 2005 and it seems the shut off valves were no longer required by 2006 I have found manuals from Fleetwood and Gulfstream from the 80's that listed the standard gas detectors in the RV and of course my Sunrader and all Winnebago's had them standard. Curious. Linda S
  4. I did find a explanation of the RVIA standards. They don't make them up themselves. They are National fire safety codes and they have to abide by them. All RV's have been required to have LP detectors since the early 80's. Don't know when CO2 and smoke detectors came into play. Linda S Posted 2011 on another RV forum The National Fire Protection Association code Section 1192 (NFPA 1192) sets the fire and living safety standards for RVs and are included in the ANSI standard for RV construction, which is managed by the RVIA. All RVIA members must adhere to those standards. LP Detectors have been required in RVs for about 30 years, but the code has been revised numerous times, roughly every 3 years. NFPA 1192 also includes some of NFPA 58 (LP Gas standards)
  5. Looks like only Alaska requires them by law. Lots of states though require that we carry flares or reflective signs. I didn't know that and never had any in my campers. Linda S
  6. I don't have access to any Indiana built brochures but the California ones say right on the brochure that they are equipped with LP detectors. Winnebago brochures also list them as standard equipment. Linda S
  7. Well you can find Onan generators for far less than 3000 bucks. I've seen them on craigslist for super cheap but here's one that looks almost new on eBay. Yes more than a portable but add that 500 hundred dollar box your talking about and suddenly it's the same price Linda S http://www.ebay.com/itm/ONAN-GENERATOR-MICROLITER-RV-MOTORHOME-GENERATOR-2800-WATT-/131897459431?hash=item1eb5b382e7:g:ql4AAOSwUuhXcCK6 Opps I missed the part about when you turn on the air conditioner it shuts off. Oh well I do see them on craigslist for reasonable prices
  8. So you put passenger tires back on. Not what's recommended by any means. What tires do you have on the back. For whomever asked yes those front tires are reversed fake duallies. Only seen on Huntsmen motorhomes Linda S
  9. I've never seen one without an alarm unless the owners had remodeled. Both of my Sunraders came with them from the factory. Shutting off the propane doesn't do much if that valve malfunctions and leaks. That's why they have alarms. never know when shit goes bad Linda S
  10. It's just a gas stove. No different for cooking than any home natural gas stove. I don't know if you joined the Yahoo Toyota Chinook group yet but there are lots of Chinook owners in northern Cal. Linda S
  11. I just checked and it's not law in some states but it is in a few. I have been asked at a national park if I had a gas alarm and if it worked. They didn't look I just had to verify that it was there. Here are RVIA standards. Fire & Life Safety Requirements as specified in NFPA 1192 Standard for RVs. Interior finish flame spread limitations are required. Minimum exit facilities providing unobstructed travel to the outside of the vehicle must be available. Smoke alarms, Fire extinguishers, CO alarms and Propane detectors are mandate based on applicable criteria.
  12. Don't you have a gas alarm inside your camper? They have a dial to adjust sensitivity. I think we are all required to have one Linda S
  13. It's important that your camper be level. Doesn't have to be dead on but reasonably so. If not it won't cool even though it gets hot in the back Linda S
  14. I've never gotten a wrong part using my vin. Yes on Toyota sites it sometimes comes up as a 4runner but it will also specify double wheel. Can't really think of any double wheel 4runners. Just a Toyota idiosyncrasy. Linda S
  15. 5 years later you probably won't get a response. The date is on all posts and it helps to know when stuff was put up Linda S
  16. So glad you figured it out.The Onan is worth a grand for sure but I don't think 3. So what are you going to do with it. Fix it? Linda S
  17. Looks like your doing a beautiful job and I like the cabinets. I didn't know Dolphin made that floor plan. I have been in a Winnebago with the same floor plan and I liked it a lot. Seemed bigger inside Linda S
  18. Well actually there is a pin in the column that's connected to a cable from the brake pedal. No unlocking the column or shifting until that pin is released. Turtle the owner of the yahoo Toyota camper group had a problem with his and took him a long time to figure it out. Linda S
  19. Well Runningman needs the mirror arms and braces. lots of little stuff to sell. Wiper motor, computer very hard to find, power center, tank monitor, holding tanks, propane tank darn I want that part. As you can see I'd have a field day with it. Tearing stuff apart is so fun. Too bad that steering lock problem is fixable. Linda S
  20. Truck or house. It makes a difference. Truck you need a regular auto battery the right size for your Toyota. House you need a deep cycle battery. I buy all my batteries from Walmart. Try to buy the MAX ones if they have them in the size I needed. Linda S
  21. The bunk model actually has 4 beds. The overhead, the couch that is listed as a dinette and 2 bunk beds. The 210RB has a permanent rear bed that stays a bed all the time and a tiny sofa that doesn't open. A child could sleep on it though Linda S
  22. I'm thinking he didn't order them from Australia so we still need to know what he bought Linda
  23. Please tell me what tires you bought from Bridgestone that were 8 ply. They haven't made a tire for our rigs in many years so if they came out with a new model I would love to know. Linda S Derek and I were posting the tire question at the same time.
  24. Just so close I have to see it. If it doesn't work no big deal. Go back to paint. Linda S
  25. After an explosive blow out from metal in the road, pulled into the dirt, I still managed to jack my camper up enough to get the tire off with my Toyota jack. If the axle is too low under the spring works fine. You guys worry too much. Yes even with good tires you can get a flat. Linda S
