  1. Sht. This a huge amount of work. 1) have you driven it any distance since the new tires. Does it drive smoothly or shake. There must be a reason it is uneven. You need a mechanic to look at it. Surprised the tire installers didn't mention it. 2) You know about that couple in Florida who redid their Sunrader. Look at how they did their ceiling. A lot of work though. 3) No propane how are you supposed to run your fridge. Is your propane tank still there. Are the hard lines that run to your fridge and where the old water heater still there. Makes me worry he pulled it all out. Is your furnace gone too. 4) The original table went into a hole in the floor. He covered that all up so putting it back means removing some of that flooring to find the hole. You will need to find new hardware to install the table. I don't have a wrap around dinette so I can't measure table size for you. Linda S
  2. No the tire looks wrong. Also think it's the wrong size tire. I see Discoverer and that would make it a Cooper. They don't make tires in our size that I know of. I also clearly an all terrain tire. Find the date code. Bet they are too old too. Google tire date code for instructions. Looks like the trim came off between the cab and the coach and they grouted it. Do the same thing you would do in your bathroom when grout looks nasty. Brush on straight bleach and let it sit then rinse and scrub. Really black, might take a few tries. Linda S Try to keep your thread together. restoration is really all one subject. Separate titles for every question gets hard to follow
  3. No I have never bought any decals. Just have my old funky ones.
  4. Not brake destroying temps. Ask them if they can check the rear shoes from the sight hole in the back of the wheel. The big cost is those rear brakes because of the work involved. If you can get away with only doing the front it shouldn't be too much. Truth is there no way for us to give you a price. Is there fluid. That you can check. Linda S
  5. The parts are all there on the Oreilly's website. Like I said just pick the ones for a 1 ton rear wheel drive. On Rock Auto just click through the categories in brakes and pick the 1 ton rear wheel drive or cab and chassis- camper. 1986 TOYOTA PICKUP 2.4L L4 Brake & Wheel Hub | RockAuto Either you can access on your phone and show the shop the right ones. If something isn't clear, hit us up. As you've noticed we answer pretty quickly. Cost will not be cheap. Rear axles must be removed to work on the rear brakes and you're going to need new axle seals too. While it's all apart repack bearings too Linda S Do you have zero brakes? A little? Helps to know how much really needs to be done.
  6. Well since you don't know what you need yet, might be a good idea to buy local. Shops don't like waiting for parts. Most everything you can buy at Oreilly's. Under each item it says the truck it fits. Your looking for 1 ton rear wheel drive Brake Pads & Shoes - 1986 Toyota Pickup | O'Reilly Auto Parts (oreillyauto.com) Under rotors and drums I don't remember the size of our rotor but I'm sure one of these is right and there is one drum listed as for rear dually wheels Brake Drums & Rotors - 1986 Toyota Pickup | O'Reilly Auto Parts (oreillyauto.com) Linda S
  7. Did you have any fluid left? Just overheating would leave you with some brake after cooling. No brakes at all mean no fluid. Might need wheel cylinders. You won't know how many till you get in there Linda S
  8. With all due respect the movement of air over a slope will all have varying degrees of a still similar outcome. Be it sloped hood, windshield or the slope of a Sunrader overhead. Air doesn't care how big you are. This is hard to see but the first big rig has a wind deflector and the second doesn't. See the black space on the front of the roof of the first pic. That black space is where the wind isn't hitting. Negative air space because of the slope of the deflector. Linda S
  9. The slope in the front pushes wind up and over your rig creating almost negative pressure on the main roof. Your existing vent is not creating any wind resistance where it is. The wind is just flowing above it. Look at this wind tunnel diagram. See how far the lines move away from the vehicle as the wind flows over it. Any alterations to that front slope will decrease your aerodynamics, not help it. Maybe put that exhaust fan on the back and just open a window for air. Linda S
  10. Deserted place or road , parking lot? Try stopping your rig with emergency brake only. Emergency brake is rear braking only. No bad sounds and stops quickly and evenly your good. At home take wheels off one side at a time and check for fluid leaks on back of hub too. There is a little hole in the back that your supposed to be able to see if there is surface left on the shoes but I've never been able to see squat there. Maybe if you clean it up with some kind of swab first and super bright flashlight. Linda S
  11. So Bob, the hardest thing to find when making the passive solar thing I made was the right size container. This would be perfect for you. Not cheap but the light weight, about 15lbs, is important. https://seresag.com/products/active-aqua-low-rise-flood-table-black-4-x-4?currency=USD&variant=41015383162937&gclid=CjwKCAjw67ajBhAVEiwA2g_jEPzwOGC6dhx3qe9uZaNbZanXCtJ-9Z3v-s8DeQtzLP6UOntuuNfdqBoCfwoQAvD_BwE From your other posts I already know you can build just about anything Linda S
  12. All I can say is wow. This thing is going to be Barrett-Jackson worthy. I'm thinking you must be about 35 but feel like you have an old soul. Linda S
  13. Since I used my existing covers I couldn't go thicker than 5 inches and I got medium density. The Sunrader overhead bed narrows at the front so that I cut myself with an electric knife so the cover would fit. Foam like this 2" Thick Single Size Polyurethane Foam Bed Mattress | eBay The stores I'm talking about supply foam to professional upholsterers so totally not like a Joann fabrics place. Unfortunately looks like the best option near Springfield has gone out of business. Your plan sounds good anyway. Linda S
  14. Nam was part of this conversation, and he is still an active member. Might take a while but I'm sure if he sees this post, he will chime in. Linda S
  15. Cutting into a premade mattress can be dangerous. Too many manufacturers use fiberglass liners to meet the fire retardant requirements. You really don't want to breathing fiberglass or have the dust anywhere near you. Are you going to have the mattress professionally recovered? I replaced the foam in my Sunrader bed and dinette with foam from a foam store. They cut it for me and it was very reasonable. I use a down featherbed on top of the mattress and it's more comfortable than the bed in my house. Duvet is over the feather bed so changing the sheets just means flipping it over. Your profile says Missouri but your IP address is telling me something else. PM me and tell me where you are and I will find the right kind of store. Linda S Oh with the right kind of store you also get to pick the density you want for degrees of firmness.
  16. The tail lights and the lenses haven't been made in many years and there is no exact replacement. Some have made a bezel to fit the opening to put in newer and usually smaller tail lights. Linda S
  17. OK I get it. Problem is with volume. 100 feet of 1/2 inch pex only holds one gallon so you're going to have to be actively heating up a tank during the day. You're also going to need a solar, 12volt pump to move the water and it needs to be strong enough to handle the rise. A pump can only push water up so many feet. I made one of these to help heat my hot tub. Didn't work, needed to go much, much bigger. On the roof of a trailer " much bigger" might be a problem so that's why I suggest a tank. Have no idea what kind of tank to use. Linda S
  18. It sounds like a lot of work for not much energy or time savings. The water in your heater and your fresh water tank are already at ambient temperature, so your heating 70 degree water, summer, to 98 at the most. A standard 6 gallon gas water heater should be able to accomplish that in about 15 minutes. Light it when you stop and by the time camp is set up it's hot. No more holes in the fiberglass roof and less stuff to break. Simple is always better Linda S
  19. I don't know of anyone who has duplicated Dolphin graphics that has them available for sale. I'm sure you could go to a local car wrap graphic place and have them duplicated. If the graphics on yours are toast, there are about a million pics online of Dolphin motorhomes they could duplicate them from. But why make it look old. Lots of motorhome graphics on Ebay and Amazon for you to create a new look. See this one. Simple but updated. You're wiping the slate clean. Draw a brand new picture. Linda S
  20. That will work. I run 55 front and 60 back but it's a matter of ride. A little less will ride smoother, not much but a little. Linda S
  21. I totally understand not wanting to drive that far on really bad tires. My favorite tire place was Tire Merchant San Jose, CA ;ยท 899 N 13th St, San Jose, CA 95112. (408) 292-1339 ; No website, cash only but cheap and excellent fast service. You really need to bring your own tires here. They don't carry our weird size. The owner made very sure the valve stems were the right ones for my rig. The 86, 6 hand hole wheel won't take a metal valve stem. You have to use a high pressure rubber stem. Linda S
  22. I'm from San Jose. What tire shop is this. If you had ordered the excellent tires I posted I'm guessing you would have saved hundreds. I could have also recommended some excellent tire shops who have done work for me and wouldn't have cared at all that you brought your own tires. Please don't forget the left hand lugs on the drivers side rear. Linda S
  23. That Winnebago came from the factory with air bags. Winnebago apparently thought they were needed. Replacement bags only might be available for less than complete replacement. I'll look around if you're interested. Nice looking rig. Linda S
  24. Sorry the flare in the middle needs to stick out a little. The last one I posted is the right one. Like extech says it's for a 5/16 hose but only 1/16 of an inch different than the 3/8 inch hose. A clamp will hold it fine Linda S
