sanibel
Considering getting a Toyota MH for short hauls on flat terrain (usually less than 30 miles, occasionally 100-200) to the race track. Can one of these pull a 2400 lb car on a dolly? Sounds like tongue weight is a prime consideration, but should be low with a dolly. WME
With dolly brakes MAYBE, without no way.
DanAatTheCape
i have a 92 itasca spirit (same winnie warrior). My camper weights 5300' empty (per the documents in the manual). M maw gross weight is 6000' \ No doubt I am there. Since you plan to stay within 200 miles of Sanibel, I believe that keeps you in the state of Florida - so no hills. You might be able to do it. I would be very careful - you get that rig up to 60 and hammer those brakes - it could get very interesting. I have a V6 - I believ emine could pull it on level ground Ok. Hills would be another story altogether. I believe my manual states - do not tow anything.
knowltondata
I would be weary of towing anything off weaker frame extensions that are only rated to carry the back of the motorhome.

RJR13
Hi. I'm new to the FORUM. I owned a 1987 Toyota Dolphin for 10 years and loved it. Got great gas mileage - went over the Rockies 3 times with no trouble. Now, I'm thinking of buying a 1988 Toyota Dolphin from your classifieds. It looks exactly like the one I owned. I'd like to retire and use this as my semi-permanet home, traveling around the country, and stopping in various places for several weeks to several months or more. My problem is that I need a car to get around once I settle in a place. I have a bicycle and can use that for very local trips, but I would need to have a car so I wouldn't always have to un-hook to go anywhere. (Yes, I know I can drive the RV anywhere and parallel park in a normal parking stop - I used to do it all the time!) So, the RV I'm interested in has a trailer hitch, but I'm told I can't tow more than 800-1300 lbs. I was planning on using a dolly to transport my Toyota (love those Toyotas!) RAV4 behind the Dolphin. I don't care about the gas mileage, and I wouldn't be driving faster than 50mph or so. I'm just concerned as to whether this is feasible and safe. If it's not possible, then I won't buy the RV, because I need one that I can tow my car behind on the longer hauls. But, I love the layout of the Toyota Dolphins and would like to be in my own! Shoprat
Howdy Mr RJR. Tow a vehicle- DO NOT DO . Hate ta slam your bubble with a shovel, but these Toys just don't do towing.Get a bigger rig with a frame, brakes, and a torque'n engine to do the TOAD thingie. Pax Vobiscum, Sir.
