Hi. I'm new to the FORUM.
I owned a 1987 Toyota Dolphin for 10 years and loved it.
Got great gas mileage - went over the Rockies 3 times with no trouble.
Now, I'm thinking of buying a 1988 Toyota Dolphin from
your classifieds. It looks exactly like the one I owned.
I'd like to retire and use this as my semi-permanet home, traveling
around the country, and stopping in various places for several weeks
to several months or more.
My problem is that I need a car to get around once I settle in a place.
I have a bicycle and can use that for very local trips, but I would need
to have a car so I wouldn't always have to un-hook to go anywhere.
(Yes, I know I can drive the RV anywhere and parallel park in a normal
parking stop - I used to do it all the time!)
So, the RV I'm interested in has a trailer hitch, but I'm told I can't tow
more than 800-1300 lbs. I was planning on using a dolly to transport my
Toyota (love those Toyotas!) RAV4 behind the Dolphin. I don't care about
the gas mileage, and I wouldn't be driving faster than 50mph or so. I'm
just concerned as to whether this is feasible and safe.
If it's not possible, then I won't buy the RV, because I need one that I
can tow my car behind on the longer hauls. But, I love the layout of the
Toyota Dolphins and would like to be in my own!
