Sorry if it's been asked before I'm on cell phone and it's hard to navigate.

I'd like to have my motor and trans completely redone and a few upgrades but need somebody who is detailed in this for RVs as I'm not.
Thank You
Kane

I tried finding a garage shop to work on my Nissan through a couple of forums. But since no one in the forums lived near me there never was an answer to my question. I finally just asked some of the regular customers and the owner of locally owned coffee shop hangouts in the neighborhood and found out about two good shops that were reasonably priced, sensible in their approach to problems, had been in business a long time and did excellent work. So asking in forums is a long shot for getting a result but asking in person in the local area might work out for you.

The RV coach stuff such as plumbing, electrical converter and propane system and appliances can be dealt with by RV repair shops. But for much of that type of work this forum will have lots DIY information in the archives plus some regular members hanging around most days for a quick response.

I am wondering why you need both the engine and trannie completely redone. Do you mean a complete rebuild? for that you would need 2 different shops. One that specializes in engines and preferably Toyota engines and a transmission shop. Does your vehicle currently not run at all?

I don't think any one general repair shop can "rebuild" an engine as cost-effectively as the engine rebuilding companies that do nothing else but rebuild engines. Kind of sad but true just the same. Seems to me the issue would be finding a local mechanic with enough skills to remove the old engine and install the rebuilt short-block, long-block, etc. Transmission is a different story in a way, and in an other - just the same. I wouldn't trust a general repair shop to work on the transmission. Yank it out and replace - yes. Again - it is a job for someone who makes auto transmissions a specialty and need not be a "Toyota" or "Aisin" specialist. These Aisins used in Toyotas are pretty simple and a "piece of cake" as compared to some of newer auto transmissions. And since the Aisins were so reliable when new - there's not a long list of updated to be done like is so common on GM and Ford auto transmissions (and Dodge).

I've completely remodeled and rebuilt my whole Itasca I've spent a lot and worked 12 hour days on it all summer

Did it need it? No but being a contractor building nice homes and having a nice home I wanted my toy trick too.

The motor and trans has 66,000 and is fine, I've come so far on this redo that I wanted to do them as well and that way I have a completely newly done Rig.

I didn't want any surprises while traveling and I wanted the motor to have a little more power thus wanting a Toyota Specialist knowing RVs. I wanted the Trans if possible to have any upgrades that it can for hills etc. thus another specialist that knows about transmissions in RVs

It's a Toyota. People buy them for a reason. They are very durable dependable engines. You need to check and make sure the head gasket recall was done and definitely have the valves adjusted. The A340E trannie you have is very dependable too and should be fine for a very long time. Throwing money at something that is good for another hundred thousand miles or so makes no sense. Here's the link for the recall but if you call Toyota you need to give them your vin and ask if it had been repaired under the " special service campaign". They never called it a recall and they wont be able to find it that way
