Roy in Jax
Wanted to be able to carry my Kayak and bike at the same time. I built this rack from a picture off the internet. There is a company that sell these but they are pricey. I started with a cargo carrier I purchased from H/F that attaches to a trailer hitch. I use 2" square tubing for the vertical and 1" square tubing horizontal bar. The vertical bar attaches to the trailer hitch with 2" angle iron. I did install a bumper block between the bumper and the vertical to take the play out. The bumper block stiffen the vertical riser, with very little play. All the steel was welded except the u-channel where the front tire of the bike fits into. The u-channel was installed with a u-bolt around the 1" tubing. linda s
Very nice set up. I have the same hitch carrier and a motor mount installed on the bumper for my outboard. Made the motor mount out of an old bike rack. Zodiac fits nicely in the carrier. Can only post a link. Yahoo won't let me copy my own pics anymore and I don't have the pic in this computer. https://groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups/minitruckcampers/photos/albums/112754304/lightbox/535275173 Linda S
Roy in Jax
Here you go Linda, your pic's of your Outboard motor mount. Very nice. I like keeping it simple and cheap.
kayakthecoast
Very nice setup indeed. I saw that cargo hitch carrier at heighbour freight for cheap. That's a nice new old school style bike you have. It would be super rock solid if you somehow attached the upright to the roof. I'd like to build something that could hold 4 white water boats about 200 pounds
