shower valve access

I am replacing all of the stock faucets with ones that have brass stems in my '86 Dolphin and was wondering how to get the shower valve out? I was hoping there was an access plate on the other side of the wall but I don't see one. Anyone have any ideas other than making a hole? Thanks in advance.

Don't know about yours but there is no way I could get to mine with out removing paneling and boy do they use some good staples.

I wound up just sawing a 5x3 inch hole in the wall. I'll cover it with something.
