Dolphinite no longer here
I've seen mention of one or two people who've installed BMW seats in their Toyota Motorhomes. What model and year BMW did the seats come out of? Will they fit an '85 Dolphin? Do the seats fit on the Toyota seat rails, or do I need those from the BMW, also? Are they expensive? Thanks in advance. John
Maineah
Any thing for a BMW is expensive! Just kidding no matter what you install other then Toyota will involve some fabrication. I would do some measurements to make sure what ever you pick is some what close to the size of the Toyota seats so you would be able to get some thing close to the same latitude of adjustment. gmichaelz
I am a "Newbie here at Toyota MotorHome" I believe that around the day I joined this fine group I saw a post by member "pennstater" dated 07/09/09 to a forum topic started by RoadRunner on 7/9/09 entitled "a) frontseat, <img src="http://toyotamotorhome.org/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/cool.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="cool.gif" /> exhaust manifold" in which he gave a humorous and detailed account of using 1993 4Runner bucket seats. He certainly sold me, So when i need to replace my ToyHome cab seats thats the way I'm going. I have a 1986 BMW 635CSI Coupe equipped with Recardo style bucket seats and I just cannot envision the possibility of ever mounting that size bucket into a small mini pickup cab. Of course BMW makes smaller more compact models, which could be fabricated to fit your cab, but why not stay with Toyota? Toyota supplies Leather Seats also. You can choose plush fabric or durable leather and yet encounter an easy drop in replacement factor. http://toyotamotorhome.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=2179" target="_blank">http://toyotamotorhome.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=2179</a>
turtle
I purchased a set of seats out of a BMW 320i (recaro seats) 14 years ago for my Toyota diesel mini cruiser. They are (were) the bomb. I am selling the diesel and have kept the BMW seats to put in my Sunrader, replacing them with seats out of a 1991 dolphin
pennstater
I scoured junkyard after junkyard with detailed floormaps of my '89 V6 Dolphin... knowing precisely how the factory bolt-mounts were located - I passed on MANY nice seats that would involve just way too much fabrication to adapt.... though if you're handy with a welder, the salvage yards are your oyster with regard to upgrading seats... only thing that came remotely close were early/mid nineties Integras.... would be able to "encourage" three of the four mounting points to work in the Toyota... also nearly acted on two nice '89 MR2 seats, but alas, the span between the rails/holes were just a tad too narrow... backed off and found the 4Runner cloth seat in great shape... I also recommend upgrading the base Toyo steering wheel with a nice fat one off a SR5 or Limited... easy swap even with the wheel-mounted cruise buttons... http://toyotamotorhome.org/forums/index.ph...sult_type=posts
