  1. Couple interior shots... I'll see if I can snap a few of my driver/pass seat upgrades
  2. This seems to be an uncommon floorplan - but I prefer the front-kitchen model... gotta imagine it helps with weight distribution... though it was unnerving somewhat to have the kids riding "way back there" on the dinette...
  3. I replaced the stock cloth base ones with fully adjustable seats from a '93 4Runner SR5 I found in a salvage yard for $70... also grabbed the leather-wrapped steering wheel to replace the rubbermaid-like unit in the MH... the difference is remarkable... took much sleuthing around to find a junkyard 4Runner that was not open to the elements (had to pass on many Limiteds w/leather seat cuz the sunroof or doors had been open in the yard... ) love the improved fabric and the much better support... I'm 6'3" so it was nice to have lumbar + support adjustments... everything swapped out cleanly
  4. we have upgraded to a 29' monster Class-C... I've got a good Dolphin if anyone is interested (see link) this site has been a great reference and a nice place to lurk:) http://rochester.craigslist.org/rvs/2347471766.html
  5. Update.... Had starter replaced.... still have the problem with not being able to re-fire the engine while she's hot.... gotta pop the hood and lett'r cool down for about 45min... just get one subtle "*click*" from under the hood and nothing else...
  6. Don't forget to grab the SR5 seats, too! Found a lovely discarded '93 4Runner (with windows/sunroof closed!!!!) in an Upstate NY salvage yard last year... the leather steering wheel makes for a much more satisfying tactile experience... Seats were a H-U-G-E improvement!!! much better construction / foam / support... and the lumbar/side-bolster adjustment is KEY... also - I like how the headrest ratchets down right to the nape of my neck... almost makes me doze off while I'm screaming down the Thruway Also snagged 4Runner floormats... INstrument cluster was tempting... but the floor-mounted automatic in the 4-Runner (w/o dash-mount gear indicator) would make the swap-out less-than perfect
  7. I was faced with the same issue in my 89 Dolphin... $800 for a new cooling unit or $880 for a new fridge (Dometic 2410)... Instead I bought a Kenmore Elite dorm fridge off Craigslist for $25... slipped it in the hole and trimmed her out such that she looks better than OEM... We rarely used the propane (other than at tailgate parties) but the dorm fridge will stay super cold for 6+hr trips w/o power... providing you have her chilled down for a day or two prior and place some strategic icepacks in there.... best money i never spent!
  8. Was all prepared to shell out $850 for a new cartridge-type awning for my '89 Dolphin until I found an 11' A&E 9000 Elite on Craigslist last winter for $300 in mint condition... paid a guy to install it... works flawlessly... Also considered bag-type awnings typically found on pop-ups.... much cheaper but did not care for the look of a dirty white vinyl zippered bag sagging off my coach like a roll of Carnie Wilson stomach fat... If you get a common torsioned roll-type awning, do yourself a favor and have it installed by an experienced RV tech.... my research showed that one mistake during the spring-torsioning process can have a spinning wrench severing a finger or hand....
  9. I scoured junkyard after junkyard with detailed floormaps of my '89 V6 Dolphin... knowing precisely how the factory bolt-mounts were located - I passed on MANY nice seats that would involve just way too much fabrication to adapt.... though if you're handy with a welder, the salvage yards are your oyster with regard to upgrading seats... only thing that came remotely close were early/mid nineties Integras.... would be able to "encourage" three of the four mounting points to work in the Toyota... also nearly acted on two nice '89 MR2 seats, but alas, the span between the rails/holes were just a tad too narrow... backed off and found the 4Runner cloth seat in great shape... I also recommend upgrading the base Toyo steering wheel with a nice fat one off a SR5 or Limited... easy swap even with the wheel-mounted cruise buttons... http://toyotamotorhome.org/forums/index.ph...sult_type=posts
  10. I ripped out the skanky OEM carpet from my 89 Dolphin and opted for bamboo laminate... Carpet came out much easier than I anticipated, though lotsa staples... don't fool yourself that you'll be able to get rip out the carpet under the dinette / couch / cabinets... ain't gonna happen unless you gut the thing... just have a good utility knife with lotsa fresh blades.... my floor was really solid - no replacing any wood.... spent extra $$$ on a high quality Shaw laminate and premium underlay based on wife's demand... glad I did as I had a roof vent this winter where water sat on the floor for a long period with very little adverse effect.... believe I got about 40 sq ft and made it with precious little to spare! If you do laminate, do the right thing and run the planks North/South in the coach vs. East West.... there's much more detail/trim cutting but it looks 1000x better IMHO
  11. I upgraded my base buckets with '93 4Runner buckets... better support... lumbar adjustments... better cloth... pockets on rear of seat... bolt right in (no drilling).... took a lot of work trudging through salvage yards.... most SR5s and Limiteds have sunroofs so just when you get all excited spotting a 4Runner in the yard, you'll run up to it only to find the seats soaked beyond repair... I got tremendously lucky after visiting a half dozen junkyards... Paid $50 for the pair.... also tossed in the leather-wrapped steering wheel to replace the Rubbermaid base truck wheel.... MUCH BETTER tactile driving experience
  12. My '89 Dolphin doesn't like to start after short stops (rest stops, fuel-ups etc)... I need to leave her running or else I'll need to sit tight for about an hour (it's happened about four times in the past two summers)... Nothing happens what-so-ever when I turn the key and she's hot... (not overheated mind you... simply at operating temp after a brief shut down... Guessing it's some type of thermal protection in a solenoid.... any takers? Thanks!
  13. The siding on your Seabreeze is Filon... a fiberglass... The roof is 4x8 corrugated aluminum
  14. WOW! I must know if there was any prep necessary (ie: removal of vents / scraping of caulk / roughing up the aluminum / removal of rack, ladder, marker lights ) or was the bed-liner applicator simply allowed to just spray away ?? That roof looks simply delicious... I've got some low spots on my Dolphin that tend to collect rainwater... some seepage (somewhere)... just replaced 2 vents and removed my A/C and still getting drips through the overhead light and a cabinet screwhole... this may be my next step if I can find a shop willing to do it here in Rochester NY!
