3rd member off unknown parts car--pretty safe, or potentially wasted money?

Recommended Posts

1990 Odyssey.  I'm looking forward to re-gearing to 4.56, trying to do it as cheaply as possible.

There's an 8" 4.56 a couple hours away from me, taken from an unknown parts car.  Do I have enough info (Toyota 8" 4.56 V6) to be sure it'll fit?  Also, if it looks good, is it pretty safe to assume that it'll operate properly, or is it kind of a crapshoot?  Thanks!

Might have been OK before they took the rear case off and covered the gears in wood chips.

There are lots of differentials available in the Bay area. Check car-part.com

You looking for a differential or carrier from a 89 to 93 4runner 4x4 with no ABS.

Searching for the carrier will show the gear ratio so it's better.
