Can anyone recommend a product for sealing a hole in

tweberglass

Recommended Posts

I put some water in my fresh water tank for the first time and found that it has a small leak because it was not strapped down very well. So over time it rubbed against the head of a screw and wore a small hole in the bottom. I am hoping to reseal it instead of purchasing a new one. On the top it seems that someone has modified that tanks because a circle about 2 inches around was cut out. It was sealed with some kind of tape so I would like to fix that too. Any recommendations for both fixes?

Thanks Travis

Those tanks are polyethylene or polypropylene which are chemically inert. In industry they hot weld parts together.

Try whatever your going to use on a spot on top, let cure and see if it sticks. If you do use an epoxy rough up the area with a wire brush first. Try a hot glue gun also.

If all else fails drill and tap the hole. Use teflon paste not tape on the threads. Let dry for a while before screwing in the plug. Do not over tighten as that warps the plug.

Good luck
