Replacing the inverter on a '78 Chinook

Are you definitely looking to replace the inverter (not standard equipment on old RVs), or do you mean the converter?

The converter "converts" 120V shore power to 12V DC in order to power your 12V systems/lights and charge your coach battery. Replacement is probably about an hour, not usually difficult. I used this one and have been satisfied: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00F8MC418/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_awdb_t1_kOcEBb4H3Y6KF

It's going to need some wiring mods, be advised there is lethal voltage inside of the converter as long as it is plugged in. The transfer switch relay is 120 volts powered by the camper cord. It is a good upgrade well worth it a very good outfit to deal with is bestconverter.com.
