  1. Like Bob C states and he knows the 4 banger! I don’t agree with the statement that an 86 is too old and will probably be rotting out. Mine has never leaked anywhere and the inside coach roof, walls and floor are solid. A very close visual inspection Everywhere is a must! Look for soft spots, water stains and knock on surfaces. Should be a solid sound and not muffled. If there’s any evidence of water leakage I would avoid it unless your a good carpenter and can tear out walls and repair. Look @ the condition of the roof. If it looks like any repairs are needed it probably has already leaked. Welcome and Good Luck!
  2. Still don’t think the 6 can get that high mpgs. That’s what my 4 gets. My buddy’s V6 Winnie gets 12 to 13. Like jj says the mileage always goes up when you go to sell lol!
  3. Had to do it for 4 days but with just me and my 2 mini-Aussies inside.
  4. Praying for you Scarlet?, Also enjoyed conversing with you. Best, Mark
  5. Ran out of leveling blocks for rear duelies so I had to use them on only one wheel. Can this cause any damage to the rear axel as only one wheel is used with no support on the other wheel? Any recommendations on which wheel to use with the blocks inside wheel or out? First time I’ve had to do this and don’t want to spend $$ on extra levelers. Thanks!
  6. I’d just buy a new deadbolt like Derek suggested. Way cheaper than a locksmith Joe.
  7. Point taken Derek. Thanks for the severe service recommendation! Will do @ 30K if I live that long hopefully,
  8. Just going by what the Transmission supervisor stated. I’m going to follow his expert advice since I shift a lot and the tranny is already stressed. Don’t put your that many miles on her so it won’t be that often.
  9. You’ve been around for awhile Maineah Lol! I agree about high mileage tranny flush. Since Grannie has such low mileage I’m going to have a complete flush every 25K. Thanks for your input!
  10. I personally think the flushing process is important because it removes any contaminated old fluid in the tranny, cleans the screen, removes metal shavings, new pan gasket and also replaces all the old dextron 2 fluid with the new full synthetic dextron 4. I think the odds are pretty slim that flushing your tranny would result in a complete breakdown resulting in a rebuild.
  11. Hey Bob, just had my tranny flushed and refilled. I spoke with the manager and he recommended not manually shifting the auto transmission but let it shift itself. I've been using your method for the last year and seems to be much better than letting the tranny shift itself. Do you think this is causing Any harm?
  12. I have those in Grannie. Like Linda I only use the pump to drain my tank. My drain valves are 31 years old and I'm not about to touch any of them now!
  13. Like Maineah and WME stated very hard to do! I attempted to replace one in Grannie and couldn't even remove it from the wall. It is clamped somehow to the wiring inside the wall. You would have to cut out the wall to gain access to the outlets rear wire connections! Not for me.
  14. Depending on how many miles you have on the tranny and how long since your last fluid change you might consider having a transmission shop familiar with Toys due a compete flush and fill. Draining and adding fluid yourself does Not flush the tranny completely clean. It takes a lot of fluid to do that properly. Drain & refill drain & refill etc. I just had my tranny flushed (they used 10 quarts to completely flush the tranny,) filter cleaned, new gasket and a magnet to clean up any debris. They can also adjust your tranny if needed to make it shift properly. They use dextron 4 now which is full synthetic. Not cheap but I won't need to do it again for 20-30K miles. Just my 2 cents!
  15. Welcome! I've only tried boondocking once in a very large recreational area in S Ohio. I was so dismayed of other campers @ least 300 yards away running their very loud generators 24/7 that I only stayed 2 days. Couldn't even hear the birds singing! It was a complete bust for me but it was free. Maybe on the coast people won't be using their loud generators so much. Hope you have better luck!
  16. Hey Maineah is your rig a 4 banger? I also use OD on occasion. I just had my tranny completely flushed, new gasket, filter and filled with Dextron 4 all synthetic. The supervisor @ the transmission shop (familiar with Toyota RV) recommended a complete flush and fill every 20K due to the strain on the tranny for the 4 cylinder. Expensive but I think I'll follow his advise!
  17. No GFI outlets anywhere in my rig Maineah. No outside outlets either. I have no idea on how to change them. No worries leaving them alone as they work fine.
  18. Interesting. My 86 Granville has no GFI outlets just 3 regular 110. I also have no 110 outlet in the bath (don't need a hair dryer lol.) I attempted to replace one of my outlets with a heavy duty Levinton while restoring the coach but a No Go! Informed by WME that our RV outlets are wired differently than @ home! The wires are crimped somehow to the rear of the RV outlet making changing them out nearly impossible!
