  1. A disk is basically just that they are all pretty much the same until you get into the exotic stuff. You are limited to size by the diameter of the fly wheel and clutch cover. How ever the clutch cover or pressure plate is where the difference is and the difference is “clamping force”. The greater the clamping force the better the hold against the fly wheel. OEM stuff is a compromise for better (smother) engagement and lighter pedal feel. WME nailed it with a stage 1 assembly, a slipping clutch under load (moving 6,000# up a hill) may not be discernable and if it slips it wares. The better the clamping force the less likely it is to slip, go with the best you can afford sounds like the Toyota one is a remanufactured for the price you quoted great for a car or light truck not so good for a 6,000# MH..
  2. It is the heavy black cable that is connected to your throttle linkage. It has nuts both sides of the bracket that allow you to adjust it. Pull it with your finger, it is under spring tension and should return to where you started with no binding and a smooth feel to it. Now if you want to adjust it loosen both nuts and have a friend press the gas to the floor pull the out side black cable back till it stops (gently you don't have to pull real hard) and bring both nuts back to the bracket then let go of the cable and tighten the nuts together. If the cable is pulled back to far it will shift late if it is too far forward it will shift too soon. If the inner cable is free and the adjustment does not fix it you may have governor issues they had problems with bushing ware at the governor rings. How many miles on it?
  3. You haven't lived until you have camped with a young Great Dane in a Toy Home! It is amazing just how much space a Great Dane can take up.
  4. That's neat! It looks funny some how tall and narrow but just right for a little MH I like the pad out front looks very handy! I need to cover a few more things so just the middle of mine will be tall and narrow.
  5. All dualies are like that because no matter what you do one tire is backwards. Some of the bigger rigs have flex hoses hooked to the inside wheel that sticks out the front josh s's picture is what is used to do the inside one it works from both ends.
  6. Thanks guys I may go to an extreme and build a garage this year that the MH will fit in the wife has been bugging me to build one and it makes sense up here with harsh winters for both the cars, trucks, tractors and the MH. The cover I had was a Adco the the wind and weather just beat it to death because it was too big although it was made for a 21' it never fit right. (not sure how I manged to put this under "fuel tanks" oops)
  7. Any one ever found a cover that actually fits a 21' Toyota? I bought the smallest one I could find and it barely lasted a year now it totally useless. It's too big hangs down to the ground and then some. Granted I'm in the snow belt close to 100" of snow this year but this thing did not make it through two seasons it just got beat up because it does not fit.
  8. I’m going to guess you are talking about a Chevy 14 bolt is it a floating axle? Mine is out of the snow now I could measure it backing plate to backing plate you may not need to change the master cylinder the Toyota has some fairly large rear brakes. I would compare wheel cylinder diameter you maybe able to get away with it. Are you going to try a single wheel set up? The weight would be about the same for both Toyota's so you are dealing with 5 to 6 thousand pounds.
  9. You defiantly did the right thing big improvement!
  10. I pull a hay wagon with my 97 Tacoma the truck it is rated 3,500# tow weight the hay wagon goes 7,000+ it will pull it but it won’t stop it so I drive d---- slow. The Toyota MH is right at max with every thing drive train included it is not safe to pull any kind of weight with them there is just not enough brakes and you have an extra two feet or so of added on frame that multiplies the tongue weight and stresses the frame extension factory recommended tow weight 0#. I know it’s cool to take your toys with you but it not a good ideal.
  11. Mine is still axle deep in the snow or I would go measure it for you!
  12. Major project. No matter what the engine it would not be safe to tow any thing that weight you'll never stop it, handling issues, frame issues not a good plan.
  13. Sounds like the converter seal if it has to come out no big deal you should have it flushed after its back in to get all of the old fluid out and replace it with synthetic fluid it will stand heat better. Also if it does not have a external cooler now would be a good time to add one. As for the rest they all are pretty much alike they are tough little motor homes if every thing works and the water leaks have not caused any serious rot then go for it.
  14. Well Greg we are not having much luck scaring up a bunch of hams. I tried you a few time on echolink over the weekend but did not happen. I am a 6 meter fan love to dx have a lot of Europeans and every state except Alaska and Hawaii. I’m using a long boom 5 element 6 meter beam I run both high power (200 watts) and qrp I worked Vancouver Island from here (FN43) on 1 watt! I use a Yaesu FT 736R for 2,6,and 70cm ssb and 200 watt bricks for all bands. We are fortunate enough to have a great team of experienced people several in the two business in our little group one of the two way guys owns a huge commercial tower (4 leg base and 250’ an old AT& T micro wave tower ) he is a ham also, that is were two of our repeaters are. Paul W1IMD (Mr intremod) is the tower owner and he thought it would be a good place for a full size cubical quad and we think it is the only working quad on 160 meters! It is huge! We hold the diamond shape with guy lines and it is held at the 200’ mark with pulleys. As you might guess it is killer into Europe to the north east and by virtue of design when we go up the band it reverses the direction so it becomes a south west beam. No problem to the west coast either! So here is hopping a few more hams will jump in 73’s N3LYT.
  15. http://www.tradervar.com/Digital-Automotive-Gauges-C9312.htm Pretty just about any digital gauge you may want and they include sensors with the gauges.
  16. There is a bleeder valve that has to be opened to fill the tank so propane escapes when they are filled and it does stick around for awhile at least the smell.
  17. Again does the light come on when you turn the O/D switch off? I'm fairly certain that the O/D is on the same fuse as the wipers so if your wipers work the O/D probably has power. Next unplug the O/D solenoid at the transmission and have a friend switch the O/D in and out while you check for power at the transmission end (the engine should be warm to test it). If you have power on and off it is one of two things a bad solenoid or transmission issues. If you remove the solenoid there is a small "o" ring on the tip remove it replace the solenoid and drive it if the O/D works the solenoid is bad replace it and the "o" ring. If you leave the "o" ring off you will not be able to turn the O/D off.
  18. They should last 100K or more they will get noisy and sound like a diesel, when you hear a rattling noise at idle then it's time don't put it off or it will cut a hole in the timing case and fill your oil pan with antifreeze. Do all of the parts chain, guide, oil pump gasket and seals and a new tensioner. The new style guide is a metal one with rubber type stuff on the face instead of plastic.
  19. I drive with mine on but be sure to turn every thing off when you get gas. You didn't just get the propane tank filled at the time did you? the smell hangs around for quite some time after they are filled.
  20. Yes it can be electrical or it can be trans problems does the light come on when you turn the O/D off? In the fact it failed quickly with out any other issues I would lean towards the electrical. Yours is pretty simple on/off switch and a relay. You need to check it at the solenoid to see if you have power first.
  21. They are a bit snug but nothing you need a crow bar to get out. It's best if the cab it warm, little more flexable. Yeah the panel does cover quite a lot maybe 10X12". I don't remember when they changed the body style maybe it was 89. I have an after market cd player and a dual band ham radio in the dash on my 97 Tacoma so there is all kinds of room the stock radios take up a lot of space.
  22. Any of the newer body styles 90 up?.
  23. There is a bushing kit that is made to repair the governor ring damage to the case if you can feel any thing in the surface you need to put a bushing kit in it. Any good transmission shop should be able to help you out with that mind you they are pretty old now they may have to dust them off. That was a common problem regardless weather of or not it was in a motor home Toyota's Volvo's Jeep's etc..
