  1. I am interested in your event. The ferry is going to be a big expense through. Mostly all rv's are going to be in the over sized class...$$$ Ferry Rates Thanks GK
  2. One of my favorites! But what about ice cold beer? a must have for camping.
  3. Now that is a great idear! I wish i would have seen that earlier in my planning. Defiantly want to do this with my next Chinook project. Thanks for sharing Mike GK
  4. Here are some pictures of the cab over in Chinook I insulated, framed and vinyl ed it.
  5. Why such a big sink...? The short answer boils down to: my girlfriend wanted it. The main reasons are that I want to go off the grid with this rig for a week at a time and during that week my GF may want to wash her hair or/and feet. I agree that it is monstrous but I can always use it for storage when or if it isn't being utilized as a sink. I did buy I pull out faucet ( Danze Terazzo 063-3146-6 ) so in the summer I can snake it out the window to have a nice warm shower. If it were just me I would have gone with a much smaller sink but I am trying to make this ride comfortable for both of us.
  6. I have a Weber on my 1983 toyota sr5 pickup and it was a great investment. 32/36e is what i bought. do it you will not regret it. its dead simple to install if you want to save some money. as far as performance i am not sure. its hard to compare a 30 year old carb in unknown condition to a brand new one on a level playing field. one things for sure a new clean carb, no matter the type is going to work better then an old dirty one. good luck Lance
  7. I had the two contoured cab over windows from my Chinook made out of Lexan., At my local glass shop for 80$. Nice Mirage , they have such a unique look.
  8. The silver insulation is a product made in Quebec called AYR-FOIL model number A2A http://www.resisto.c...L/Products.aspx A2A stands for "Aluminum – 2 layers of bubbles – Aluminum " The walls have a single layer of A2A and Roxul The floors and cabover will have 2 layers ( interesting enough the floor was already insulated from factory, there was a layer of honeycomb cardboard and wood ribs sandwiched between the bottom and top layer of plywood. ) It should be nice and toasty.
  9. This last weekend I was able to get a little work done on this project. I removed all the cabinet carcasses and vacuumed out all the tracking for the infloor heating lines. 1/2 PEX was then laid in the tracks and held down with tuck tape to prevent it from popping out. The floor took 95' of PEX tubing. Then a 4x10' sheet of aluminum was bend, cut and laid over the hydronic lines to keep the floor flat and to even out the temperature. Finally the lino was laid. The bases for the dinette placed back inside. The last picture is of my fridge vents which will have to be shorted.
  10. My girlfriend and I would not leave without: Emergency Back Packs Chainsaw Headlamps
  11. Had a chance to work on the cabinets after work today. These are the carcasses for the fridges and tall coat closet. If all goes well I'll be back in the shop after work tomorrow.
  12. Here are some 3d renderings Rear Drivers Looking Forwards towards cab Rear Drivers Looking towards back door
  13. Updates... I brought the Chinook in the shop. thawed it out. and got to work today. I am now removing the mock up cabinets Measure. cut. screw I used a Kreg pocket hole screws to assemble this cabinet. Here are the new rear cabinets, still needs and face plate and drawers . These will house the sink, stove and mechanical room. some drawer space too. After dinner I may go back and work on them some more.
  14. Bajadulce, No real plans yet. Work has been too busy to make any progress on my project. I am taking the Chinook out for a mini adventure today. Just insured it for 3 months which is about 180$ here in British Columbia. I hope to start working on my campiner soon. I have to do some maintenance first before I go any further with the renovation. The Chinook needs a clutch, axle seals and u joints. I also want to revamp the exhaust system and maybe add a gas tank. I have been buying lots of goodies for the Chinook though; inverter, batteries, compressor , I 'll have to spread it all out and take a picture for all of you. hopefully if i get the time I want to make a video of a walk through of the Chinook interior and exterior. bajadulce how is your sunraider coming? Last picture i saw you had your ladder on top of it doing some siding lol. Lance
  15. Thanks Rick. Myself I would keep the chassis and drive train as simple as possible. The 87 does sound like your best choice. You ll need a single cab longbed to keep the frame unmodified. I reinforced my frame because with the Chinook and gear the rear end weighs 3000 plus pounds. The non- turbo 20r has not failed me yet but sometimes i do wish for more power. You can message me through this forum or email thehumanelite at hotmail dot com Please start a post so we can watch your progress!
  16. Yep, 95 horses of awesome. 4 low does amazing things! That engine is from the 1980 Toyota hilux. I think the 1976 chinook may have a RV cam in it but I don't know? maybe someone out there does.
  17. Here are some pictures my friend James Chinook's ( Brown & Green )Here is a pictures of my other Chinook (Blue) Works been busy so no progress to update you on
  18. I wish that green truck was mine! I just posted it as an example of the fenders. I believe the green truck is a 1982 or 1983. I have a 83 shortbed 4x4, its stock and I use it as a work truck at the shop. I can't wait to Corey finishes my fenders, hopefully the 18th or 19th of august. I'll give them a couple coats of tremclad semi gloss white and they'll match my truck perfectly.
  19. here is some more information...... nissan cummins
  20. george101. I'll check later today but I believe that the stock filler mount on the pickups are re used on the Chinook. Chinooks ( at least the pop top version ) just use a longer piece of hose between the filler and tank. I ll look at my 83 pickup today and compare it against my Chinook and re post. You could always take it out and have the holes welded up.
  21. This thread really sparked some interest in me. I have been entertaining the idea of using a Cummins 12v as the power plant for my next project. I did a little research and found an article on this new 4 cylinder diesel 2.8L L4 Mule Diesel engine . Enjoy this read, it has some eye candy too!
  22. Here is a picture of a truck like mine with those fenders installed
  23. Also lately I met Corey from Toyotafiberglass.com (Precision 4x4 Center ) in Penticton BC. Corey builds all kinds of toyota parts oem style and custom he also just finished an amazing Toyota trekker build, his 70 page!!! forum over the last 4 years is amazing worth the read toyotatrekker.com . I spent a few hours at his shop checking out his projects and fiberglass. I endded up ordering some high clearance fenders for my chinook these images are from his toyotafiberglass.com site my fenders will be ready some time mid august. I think they will look great over my 33x12.5's. I'll post pictures when i get them mounted. I am stoked about the fenders!
  24. Here is a snap of us camping near a river flowing out of Cristina Lake I have had to do a lot of mechanical maintenance on the Chinook. U joints, Tie Rods, Loose Tranny Mount, Front brakes. I want to also put a new clutch in it soon and well and replace the rear leafs. The rough Country Leaves are far to weak for the weight of the Chinook. For anyone who is wondering about weight our Chinook fill with gear and a passenger weighs 830kg (1830lbs) on the front axle and 1400kg (3090lbs) on the rear axle.
