Hello Totem, hope you don't mind me contacting you Sir! I'm extremely interested in your posts regarding generators running rooftop air. I'm new to this obsession. Just purchased a 1985 Granville. It has a 11k Dometic roof air and I have a Honda 2000i. I've read what you said about the Honda not up to par. I ordered a hard start capacitor from Dometic. Supposed to be much better than the Supco units and cost 50 bucks! I'm trying to figure a way to be able to use the Honda if possible because my cab air is unrepairable and was hoping to use the Honda while cruising to cool the coach and cab. I haven't attempted to start the air with the Honda yet....waiting on the cap. I see you do that with the Harbor Freight 2500. How do you mount it while driving? What's your honest opinion on how loud it is while running under a full load. Also important, how do you keep someone from stealing it when you park? My other options are to buy the Dometic Easy Start unit for $450.00 plus shipping, tax, etc. and use the Honda; sell the Honda and by the Harbor Freight unit. I'm concerned about parts, reliability and where to serve the Harbor Freight unit. Sure hope the Honda will work with just the hard start cap. If no time to respond Totem I completely understand and will still continue to enjoy your posts Sir! Thanks for your time! Mark

I just slap the 2500 HF on the rear bumper wedged in between the bumper and my HF cargo carrier.
The thing you need to remember about the 2000 is that its a 1600 watt generator and not intended to long term run AC, and yet if you are driving 7-8 hours using it thats just what we are talking about doing.
What will happen is, it may very well start and it will run for half our then go into overload just from running.I would say give it a try; worst case it will trash the generator or the AC. Not worth the risk to me.
To me the HF is very quiet while driving i cant hear it at all.
parked its not too bad either but i only run it at truck stops or lots. i would not recommend it or a honda or yamaha etc at a national park camp area; they will probably complain.
I run a bike lock through my generator; its a steel cable that coils and has a combo number on it.
If its stolen its ok, its just a HF genny; not a $1000 honda and mine has already paid itself off so i dont care though i have never had any trouble using the bike cable lock. I run the cable through the tow hitch chain connector. if someone gonna bolt cut that thing they were gonna steal your crap anyway i always say. To me the setup i have is < $1000 it included the PS edition AC, supco cap, and the HF genny. My system runs for less than the cost of a Honda that doesnt.

Hello All, I'm new and just purchased a gently used 1988 Toyota Horizons ST MH w/ 57k miles. Exterior 7/10, Interior 8/10, Engine & Tranny 9/10. Everything seems to work well so far and drives very nicely. Thank you for this forum and hope to find articles that will help me and be able to help others.

Of course its from that windowover the cab, next to the bed, dry rot under there shows me It was a problem from before I bought it,...of course, but I have looked at the seal and it seems water tight. Still there is allways a full window well after the rain(in Portland this is every day now) and I bet this is a common problem. Just about half of the used Toyotas with the big window in the front had dry rot/past leak evidence,..in the SAME PLACE..It's always under the bed at the low corner...
