  1. Thanks! I enjoyed it. It gave me some decorating ideas and specs as well
  2. Just like many here, I haven't used the shop that much so I can't recommend but I will need one soon to do my muffler since that thing has too many holes in it. Any recommend for a good muffler shop in the San Francisco Bay area? Just for your info. I've seen a Toy home being towed with Uhaul dolly...incase one needs to be towed, this may be the lowest cost solution since those tow trucks charge an arm and leg for towing a motor home...most often time
  3. Derek! Thanks. This proves that I am still learning Engish Bob: you're right, it turns yellowish Sunnynshade: I ended follows your solution My near future project: rear backup camera and a new head unit that can connect to the rear backup camera
  4. Not sure what it called but there is a clear plastic thing that was glued to the rear window to let the driver seeing down the road. Any how, mine felt off and I don't know what to use to stick it up there again. Tape won't work...glue maybe? what kind? any idea? Thanks,
  5. Yeah, my previous 1990 Warrior had seatbelts to all the seat too...without those stickers though. Sure enought, I will install them regardless...who knows...we occasionally carry passenger on the coach
  6. Hmm...that's kind of strange...this rig was sold in California...I guess Winnebago just wanted to cover their butt so they put those stickers in...or they wanted to save some pennies but replacing those seatbelts with stickers???
  7. Totem, Pls. ship them to me...with bolts and brackets if available. I'll PM you with additional info.
  8. I agree not only on the renter but people who pay huge mortgage interest for nearly the rest of their lives...the banks actually own the properties...until they pay off... Well being a suffering immigrant in the late 90s, I was taught to "live within my mean" concept and steer clear of renting as early as possible from my parents. So as of this year, I've reached my goal of living mortgage free...and retirement worry-free...but that's another story. Being somewhat mechanical-inclined, I've always wanted to own an older Toyota truck preferably 4WD...but work and family would keep me away from going 4Wheelling...so what's the alternative? After a cross country trip from Florida to California in May of '09, I've decided that there are much more out there for me to explore and enjoy...an RV would fit this interest best. So opsite to a 4WD toyota truck, I got a Toy home instead. My wife's ultimate goal would be owning a 40+ units apartment...I am not a big fan of this but she said I will have a garage for all my toys and we may have our own house in that apprt...who knows until them, I may join this group to be a fulltimer... Or running my own consultant firm providing services to utilities companies accross the states...and to say on hotel and plane tickets cost...they what you said here makes perfect sense Happy Rv'ing!
  9. Onan 2.8KW will fit on the Kohler's compament. Used one runs for about $800 if you can find one with low hour.
  10. Cost wise, a gen set would be more effective...but conceptual wise Battery/Inverter would work. Crazy thought: since the Propane fridge can freeze water, why not have a fan blow thru that evaporator so cool air will come out of the other side? Anyone wants to try this as a proof of concept?
  11. Can a dorm fridge run while the RV is in motion? I am not sure if that compressor is designed to be rock-n-roll...if you know what I mean. An beeffy inverter can run the dorm fridge but life span may be short
  12. quick check by turning on headlight and tapping the horn. But if the battery is dead, with the headlight on, starting will make it dim very quick...then it's the battery...otherwise...it could be one or more of these: starter, starter solenoid, ignition SW, wiring, transmission intlk...more details will be needed then
  13. I guess no 22RE-Turbo ever got it way on a motorhome right? Some added power may make some smile but reliability may make some cry...I don't know
  14. What an interesting read...I do respect all your opinion and rather not getting into it. I've just learned a lot from reading this thread. I've know to pay for as much as $50/night going camping...and when I can't reserve a campsite, the trip has to be cancelled...too bad. But I am now thinking about it...I could just park in a lot of places for free...and not getting in trouble. For one, I can't be fulltime Rver...at least for 2-3 more decades...I wish I knew this concept while going to college...it would save me over $10K a year... I also work for a utility company that spans across 2/3 of central and northern California so parking on over 2000 company properties would not be a problem either... Exciting concept but with wife and young kid...I don't have a choice at the moment... Keep it coming guys...good stuff Last but not least...I tend to think whatever people say about you is none of your business...so if they have energy to waste...let's it be and rest assures it has nothing to do with you
  15. Well, thanks for all of your input. I surveyed every square inche under the bench and found no evident of seatbelt or seat belt installation trace. But I found several labels said "This seat is not intended for occupancy while vehicle is in motion" I guess my Toy home is designed to carry only two passengers and has sleeping space for about 5...does not make a whole lot of sense to me. After market seatbelts installation is on my list...at least give my passenger some form of protection...better than nothing and with the low speed on a MH...I think they will help a little. Anyone attempted to install seatbelt on these MH yet?
  16. That inverter has to be obease...way beyond fat in order to run the roof top AC. The last guy I know tried 5KW inverter could not start 9200btu roof top air...
  17. I've been talking to Powermaster...asking availability of high amp alternator for V6...he said he may have one but he's checking...so far he has not gotten back to me yet. I am wondering if the one for 22RE would fit the 3VZE. Can't be that much differenct...I would think
  18. This is exactly the case for my 1990 V6. The warning light has not yet come on but the voltage at battery's ternimal engine at idle was only 12.7V, about the same as engine not running. Time to hit Napa or Carquest...thanks to all you guys, I stear clear of Autozone stuff for this one Or any high performance aftermarket would you recommend?
  19. Totem, sorry to hear you have so much issue with remanufactured alternator. Just to clarify, mine is still OEM...not been replaced yet. I haven't got the chance to get the meter to check for voltage but you may be correct when there is no battery light, does not mean the alternator is good. I may pump out enought voltage to make the warning light circuit happy but not enough current to do anything especially when sign lights are turned on. I don't think I would got the GM way...even just the look of it making me...unpleasant... Let me check out the Powermaster 41280...do they make one for V6?
  20. Anyone attempted this yet: http://www.yotatech.com/f131/gm-cs144-140-amp-alternator-swap-3-0-a-118482/ I personally don't want GM part on Yota but...if it does the trick it does the trick
  21. Well we had a wonderful time with the kids yesterday at the Golden Gate Recreation Area. Upon coming home, I noticed the battery and brake warning light started flashing on-off when turning the signal light. Reving up did not help. But no warning light when signal lights remain off. When I turned off the engine, it did not start again...dead battery I think the alternator is the one to blame...but: If the alternator is bad, the battery warning light must remain on ALL the time .... So I am a little confused. Where do I begin? Thanks!
  22. If one thinks about it, there are many creative uses for the toy homes, plus reliability and MPG combined with low cost of ownership; it's hard to beat the little Toy home. What I used mine for: -2nd office when thing get crowded in the house -Short trip to Homedepot for long stuff -Moving my sister-in-law to college -Trips to the beach fishing in any weather and my wife and kid can come along -Emergency prepareness or home power supplement when there is an outage -2nd commute vehicle when the primary one is out on loan or at the shop -Spare bedroom when there are guests -Mobile office at a job site with electric power available -Heck...I even use the light by the door to light up our walkway on Halloween nights or just any night -A place for me to spend extra time...improving it -Insurance isn't very much either
  23. Pics look good. Price is right too. Definitely worth checking it out if you are on the market for one. These are hard to come by
  24. Welcome aboard. Winter is coming...make sure it's leak proof. Enjoy
  25. Always ask for high resolution pictures and zoom in to check the details out. Pics. posted on classified adds always look twice as good as in person. As the owner to take a video or use facetime/skype...so you can look where you need to look Find a local inspector to inspect and give you a report before you book a ticket Look for leak in the areas above the cab...most leak there Trust your first instinc...if something isn't right, chances are it's not going to work Take your time...be patient. It took me 2 years to look for the right one. California rigs seem to be abundance and less rust...Southern Calif. is my favorite market...price is good too
