  1. I got this: http://www.bestconverter.com/4600-series-Upgrade-Kits_c_133.html . john
  2. He had them all connected, just two to the wrong places. He e-mailed me a nice vacuum line pictorial and I just swapped the 2 he had wrong. What is funny is that my motor has 4 VSV's not the 3 shown in his documentation, or my Chiltons book. Still don't know exactly what the frontmost VSV is for. john
  3. Sorry for such a poorly worded post, late nite, long day and not thinking well. I have my wrench set for 150#. john
  4. How old is your convetor, does your model include the "charge wizard? Mine is only several years old and starting to go. john
  5. I had this after getting the exhaust valve shims replaced. My problem was the vacuum lines were crossed. john
  6. Yeah,,, Subaru tell me to put 32# in front and 30# is rear tires. Sooo underinflated it doesn't even steer rite!!! 35# in all four works great feels like a great steering car that goes exactly where you point it. Was talking to a mechanic at a dealership that had one like mine and when I asked him what he ran in his he said 35 # in all four.... Just because someone says it doesn't make it right. I run mine less than that, done with a torque wrench. I think that you may very well get away with that 170#, but it's too much for me. YMMV john
  7. Take inside measurements of your battery well and consider the entry door size if different. Get the biggest one that will fit in there. One consideration might also be what kind/size of convertor/charger on your rig. john
  8. I have heard about 16-20 VDC with shorted diodes in the alternator. I have only had diodes go open in mine so reduced voltage. I miss the alternator/generator shop off market street, he had everything in stock and was so cheap I quit messing with 'em, just let him fix it. He had a dyno with a scope and could see diodes that were weak replacing them before they failed. john
  9. Yeah, propane has about twice the energy than natural. First thought was wow what a small flame in the RV burners, but boils water faster than at home.
  10. Poppin rite up now, was getting a "sever not found" error. Reset the DSL modem , no difference. I've had this before on sites in England and the EU. john
  11. Boy that'll toast my deepcell fast. That new group 29 or 31 lookin good. Both my batteries are over 5 years old now. john
  12. I am having a devil of a time loading pages from this forum today. Is it just me ?? Other forums loading OK . john
  13. Aired tires, replaced the rest of my rusting fasteners with stainless. Found out one of the new plastic hold openers (propane tank cover) the spring is rusting, others are ok. The original chromed ones were ok for rust but were replaced by the guy who painted it with the plastic ones. Will start the search for the chrome replacements, they looked a lot better anyway. john
  14. How high will the voltage go if you do that ??? john
  15. WME Yep, if it has 3 hand hole rims, you must clock the outer rim to match the inner valve stem. WELL....yes but I today aired up all my tires and discovered that when I had the screw in the rt outer rear and swapped to the spare I put the inner valve stem and the outer stem facing each other!!! Found out I can get my gauge and air chuck in there just fine, actually easier to do than the other side. So unless there is a reason not to do it like this (easier to get damaged by road debris ???) I was thinking about putting the other side the same. What are your thoughts???? john
  16. Figured it out. When you first pull it down the 2 gear lite goes out but the low gear lite doesn't come on but if you just hold it there for a bit the lite comes on it's in low and stays there. Still I think I will tweak those jamnuts just a tad and see how that works. john
  17. 4 Toys in GG Park today. Ours and another Dolphin with 3 bikes strapped to the rear parked facing west on South Drive just past Stow Lake. On JFK Drive farther west passed a Winnebago flashed my lites to him got flashed in return and almost to the beach saw the really old Dolphin the lady with 2 dogs lives in. Great day, no sun but not really cold, dog loved it, but she loves everything. john edit-edit South Drive
  18. How many miles on yours? Ours had 83k on it to start with and it did not do do this. Now have 94k and it has been gradually getting more pronounced. I am stopped and level when selecting low for the climb up. john
  19. I have to go up the hill I live on in 1st all the way up. I stop at a sign and shift the automatic into low. Lately it goes into 2 nd and I have to go to park or neutral and move the steering shifter arm fast and hard to get it into low. Looked at the linkage under the hood and the shaft the shifter arm rotates is attached to an arm which is attached to a threaded rod with jamnuts on each side of the threads. It seems to me I just have to shift the jamnuts a bit to get the rod to move more towards first gear. The book I have doesn't cover this nor any of the many docks I've gotten here from this board. Mostly are cable systems, my shifter is all arms and shafts seems. I thought I would ask here first before doing anything. john
  20. Finally added a switch under the dash that cuts out the feed to the relay battery isolator coil. Not using the deep cycle to start anymore and if I'm plugged in I can start the motor without the alternator and convetor interfering with each other.
  21. Thanks JD , that Deca 8A31DTM looks good , if it'l fit. Do you know who makes the batteries for Costco???
  22. See : http://www.batterystuff.com/kb/tools/bci-battery-group-sizes.html , and http://www.batteriesnorthwest.com/batteryschool.cfm?TID=9 , web search for more if needed. I measured the deep ones at the Costco on 10 St downtown but seem to have misplaced that paper. The prices seem good to me. I think I can fit a group 29 in mine, but they don't label 'em like that. I found one bigger than the #27 that I think will fit my Dolphin. john
  23. < Accepts industry standard 2-Pin Plug (sold separately) > as per Bargmans website. Or you could get crimp on lugs to match at a auto parts or electronics outlet. What holds then onto the RV ??
  24. Is that because of the higher motor speed when shifting, or does the ECT go into the tranny electrically ?? Or maybe affects the vacuum fed to it ??
  25. I used to leave it on all the time but now for level driving I keep it off as I'm not pushing it hard. For the steep hills aroung here it's first gear all the way anyway. Useful for rolling hills at freeeway speed if they are not too steep or long. If I go fast enough to get revs up I can use the OD if level, no wind.
