  1. The 45 watt harbor freight solar system seem to be huge for 45 watts and 3 panels are a lot to mount. I am going to install a system in the summer. I am an electrician and I am taking a 45 hour class on Solar Systems at the union hall. Hopefully I will be able to answer any questions when I am done with the class.
  2. Tiger motor homes use a Ford of Dodge truck to build their 19' 4x4 campers. I don't have the 85-100 thousand to buy one. Besides who wants a camper that does everything its suppost to do. My 92 seabreeze is more of an adventure.
  3. Hey it's nice to see someone from the midwest. I live in Waukesha WI
  4. I tore out my h2o heater and saved it for reinstall before selling. I didn't want to haul around the weight of the heater and 6 gallons of water in the tank. The extra space is great for a bin with the pots and pans. I put 14,000 miles and spent 50+/- nites in my camper and never used the hot water heater. When we boondocked for a month in Colorado we never stayed at a campground. So we had to be stingy on water use [ only 17 gallon fresh tank]. At Salida and Bueno Vista where we stayed there were plenty of places to shower for a fee [2$]. The best was a laundry mat that had clean showers and wi fi. I have thought about installing an instant heat 120v heater and just running the generator. Maybe someday. They do make tankless water heaters that run off of propane. This would make the most sense if you don't have a generator. I have seen some that were ment for permanent install in places such as a rustic cabin.
  5. I own the vortex fan and installed it in the bathroom. It is very loud. Only good while showering or using the bathroom. I have the fantastic fan above the bed and recomend it for the cabin area. The fan I have blows in or out which I would recommend.
  6. When I bought my tires online I had them delivered rite to the place where I had them installed.
  7. I lost a gas cap on the first long trip with my MH. A made a stap to keep the new one on. I used 2 12 inch stainless steel fishing leaders. I backed out one of the screws where you put the gas in and glued the other end to the gas cap with epoxy. The swivel on the leader keeps it from getting twisted and it was cheap.
  8. I rebuilt my battery box using the original outside vent. I used 1/2 osb that was bonded to frp. I put the frp on the inside and sealed it with caulk. My 92 SeaBreeze had the battery box under the dinett seat. I also changed the cables and added new 12v breakers from the auto store.
  9. I welded a 4 1/2 by 3/16 steel tube for a bumper. They dont make a 4 1/2 in 1/8 inch or I would have gotten that instead. I used the 4 1/2 inch because my poop tube doesn't fit in a 4 inch tube. Its 4 on the outside and I need 4 on the inside. I then welded on a hitch receiver for extra storage/bike carrier ect. Off of the bumper I also made a rack to hold 3 whitewater kayaks.
  10. I spent a month in Colorado this year and would like more power storage on the battery system. I replaced the battery out there to a 115 ah deep cycle because I think I fryed it with the original controller. Here are the upgrades I am interested in. 1) 2nd battery in parallel ( same type ) 2) replace controller with new 55 amp, 4 stage controller with more dc fuses. 3) heavey duty switch to bypass batter isolator if I need to jump motor battery off of the house battery. I also will be able to maintain the motor battery ocasionaly over the winter by closing the switch at the isolator and opening the switch at the house battery ( only one battery will be charged at a time because of the difference in battery types, age, ect). Will the original altinator be strong enough to charge the batteries while driving in the mountains with AC running? Extra storage is usless if I cant fill it. I have also thought of installing solar system but I dont want to damage the roof with mounting.
  11. A couple of weeks ago I turned on the generator to show friends how great my Toy was and the power wouldn't go back on after I turned off the generator. Took off the cover to my converter and exercised the transfer relay with a pen and it has worked since then. It may just be stuck, or broken. Try manually moving it.
  12. I have been making sweet potatoe hash browns with eggs for breakfast. Sweet potatoes are very cheap, last a long time, and can take the abuse of driving around on rough roads. All other meals are similar to at home.
  13. It looks like the 7300ru doesn't have the 3 stage charging in it. They have an ultra III that is.
  14. Have you thought about tileing it? Should be cheap because of the small size.
  15. Thanks for answering my post. I am trying to get an idea of how much rocking is normal and how much is too much. Suspension work is out of the budget this year anyways. I hope to meet some toy mh owners this year on my travels and see their rigs. Craig
  16. I got my toy a few months ago and have been working on it since. It is a 92 sea breeze, 21'-7" with the V6. It needs new tires, which I am getting online from tirerack. They are 185/0R14 D Continental Vanco, $70each (x7) plus $70ish shipping. I understand that the camper is a topheavy vehicle but I am wondering if I also need stuts and /or shocks. If you push on the side of the camper, it rocks easy. I can feel my 100lb dog rock the camper when he gets up and circles to lay down on the front seat. Any suggestions on struts and/or struts. I should note that the camper is on the heavy side of the toys and has all of the features, Generator, awning, trailer hitch receiver(for bike rack). Thanks Craig
  17. what kind of kayaking are you doing?
