  1. This was just posted elsewhere and might be VERY useful information:- Good luck and let us know what happens.
  2. Well, could you cut and fit all the parts as described, tack weld them together and then have a 'good' welder do the final wolds? It would be a shame to see your new 'upgrades' bouncing down the highway in the rear view mirrors!
  3. OK, but note that I found those by searching for calipers for a '91. I didn't know, one way or another, if there was a change in brake calipers between '86 and '91. So I looked on the Cardone web site. http://www.cardone.com/English/Club/Products/webcat/byapp.asp For '86 they show a PN 19-B1030, about the same as Advance. For '91, they show the same PN, so it looks like they MIGHT be the same. I looked at AutoZone and got thoroughly confused by the selection offered. I'm not sure if your '86 has what they'd call a 1/2 ton or 1 ton front end, and the PNs are different. I'd suggest that you take one of your old calpers to thestore with you! http://www.autozone.com/autozone/catalog/parts/partsShelf.jsp?displayName=Brake+Caliper+-+Front&currentPage=1&categoryDisplayName=Brakes+%26+Traction+Control&navValue=14400852&itemId=852-0&parentId=44-0 As for Advance, "You pay peanuts, you get monkeys"!
  4. You went the wrong way with your upgrade. You need 20lb bikes, then you can do 60 mile runs at 15-20mph and get fit at the same time!
  5. I'm newish here too and I agree that you'd think this problem (at least for carrying bikes) would have been solved long before our arrival. From reading over the past several months, all the hitches seem to have been individual efforts with few details mentioned. I'll be looking to install some sort of receiver myself to carry bikes on the back if a Winnie Warrior. BTW, if your one or two bikes weigh 100lbs, I'd suggest you upgrade.
  6. Given that most (all?) manufacturers recommended NOT towing, I doubt you'll find a hitch manufacturer that designed a bolt-on hitch.
  7. Maybe some of these guys could point you at a Toyota mechanic:- http://www.wildyoats.com/ http://www.snlc.org/ http://www.battleborncruisers.org/ http://www.nvttora.com/ You don't have to tell them it's for a motorhome!
  8. Do they look like these:- http://shop.advancea...MS_676910699___ Or you could try:- http://car-part.com/cgi-bin/search.cgi
  9. I see you're in Las Vegas. Maybe someone will read this and be able to suggest someone local.
  10. I think this one would be perfect for 'Bath Girl':- http://richmond.craigslist.org/cto/1713444977.html
  11. I always eat the top of a muffin first. I'm never sure which is the top of a donut.
  12. Water infiltration damage (stains or soft spots in the walls, ceiling or floor); 1-Tonne rear axle (6 bolt wheels); All systems working on propane and electric; Everything else!! For $2200 you shouldn't expect miracles unless you're really, really lucky! Where are you in the North East? You might be near someone who'd be willing to go and look at it with you. Happy hunting. I just bought 2, 1 in Maine and 1 in Ct. I think any of them will handle 2 people.

  14. Welcome to the Forum. Hard to say (guess?) how quickly they age sitting in a warehouse (presumably under 'ideal' conditions) vs 'Regular Service' vs sitting for months at a time under a laden Toyota MH! I'm also a bit suspicious of a 'sell by date' promoted by the tire manufacturers which certainly won't decrease their tire sales! I know that in the past I've certainly driven on tires that are probably beyond the 6-7-8 years they talk about. http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tiretech/techpage.jsp?techid=138& http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tiretech/techpage.jsp?techid=11&
  15. Welcome to the Forum. I'm afraid I can't offer a solution to your problem, but hopefully someone will notice your post way down here at the bottom of the screen where there doesn't seem to be much action and offer some assistance.
  16. A couple of questions for clarification. It appears that there were no bags previously installed, correct? So the bump stop is eliminated? Which kit did you install? And a comment, despite having NEVER done the job myself! I'd have used an angle grinder with a thin disc rather than a Sawzall, assuming there's room to access the U-bolts. Or perhaps the 'hot wrench' if I was tempted to reuse the U-bolts!
  17. I've managed to live life without feeling a need for 'personal protection' and hope to continue to do so in an RV. I don't know if 2 80lb dogs count!
  18. I drew a blank on FleaBay for the 7". I think they were over $300 @ Amazon.com
  19. I know I would, given that you already have the 'donor' available. Assuming you're not planning to scrap the '82 pickup, I doubt very much that having a 4 speed will affect the resale value. Of course if you're paying someone else to do the work, that changes the 'tipping point'! I wish it was as easy to swap a 5-speed into a '92 automatic.
  20. I would not recommend spacers much over 1/2". Any spacer will change the loading on the rear wheel bearing, cantilevering the load way out from where it's designed to be. This will lead to premature bearing failure. For me, the only way to safely solve the under-tired/overwhelmed look is to either install a 1-Tonne axle or adapt a wider axle from another vehicle. I'm going to guess that the standard wheel/tire size would be 185R14. Load range C or D. I'm not sure if there's such a thing as a wide, low profile tire available with the load carrying capacity needed . If you're looking to buy new tires, I'd look in to changing them all to the same diameter at the same time. I prefer the 'look' of a wheel well full of tire, but I'd advise picking 'Safety' over 'Appearance'.
  21. You'll find WCBB at 73*(true) or 89*(magnetic). Your 45 miles from the tower (44°9′15″N 70°0′34.7″W). At least that's what TVFool and Google tell me. Or did you mean WMEA? 8 9magnetic 0
  22. You can try this:- http://www.tvfool.com/?option=com_wrapper&Itemid=29&q=id%3d772153a3962214
  23. It all comes down to balancing how much Interstate vs 'country roads' time you want to spend.
