  1. Riomaggs, Welcome! You’re looking for a Dolphin… Did you know that the Sea Breeze is also made by the same manufacturer? (National RV) I have an 89 Dolphin so I hope your not looking for an unbiased answer :-) I would look for the 89 or 90 models. In 91 they began to offer the new style. It was a plastic (of some sort) covers on the lower part of the RV. They look great! But after 22 years and a few bumps they might not… Replacing them is a huge task. The older ones are basic RV manufacturing and can easily be fixed or replaced. Also in 89 Toyota had an update on the truck part. New V6 engine, better transmission and the best cab too. Good Luck! Andrew.
  2. I think I can see where all the problems are coming from in this picture: Looks to me like the 14" vent. I am still dealing with my repair job in the same area. It turned out to be the roof supports in my roof were not flat anymore. That caused a lake to form on the roof whenever it rained. The first part that I noticed to leak was that TV antenna crank-up handel. From there it would "Flow" on the top of the interior panel to wherever... You can read more of what i am doing here:http://toyotamotorhome.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=4749 Good Luck! It's a big job but well worth it in the end. I think you did good buying this one. Andrew.
  3. That is horrible... I really feel for you. Good luck with this... Andrew.
  4. Great deal on a great RV ! Welcome to the forum. Andrew.
  5. I just did a quick google map search and found the height listed at 14' 9" ? were they doing work on it at the time? It looks plenty high enough ?? https://maps.google.ca/maps?q=3rd+Street,+Santa+Rosa,+CA,+United+States&hl=en&ll=38.438067,-122.717344&spn=0.001242,0.002747&sll=38.440467,-122.714431&sspn=0.157849,0.220757&oq=Santa+Rosa,+CA+3&hnear=3rd+St,+Santa+Rosa,+California,+United+States&t=m&z=19&layer=c&cbll=38.437967,-122.717047&panoid=NDTHJ2dYQbQwko58rvzBOg&cbp=12,58.34,,2,1.22&source=gplus-ogsb
  6. I have a 89 Dolphin, I think our roofs are the same. Really there is not much to them... From the inside-out 1st you have the 1/8 panel, then you have the wood frame, 1" X 1" wood with 1" (foam between) on the top it's 1/8 foam board then finally the aluminum covering... I used 1" X 2" aluminum channel to cure my saggy roof in the picture... Andrew.
  7. We use our old Garmin unit mounted on the windshield, never had a problem that i can remember... I'd love to hear more about the trip, travelling with a 5 month old is nice! i remember going up north to Kitimat, BC when our daughter was only 2 months old. Andrew.
  8. That's great that is is running better than ever now. My swap is a little delayed.... I keep getting promotions at work that keep me busy, and the kids are getting bigger and with that come lots of activities... It is really hard to justify the time to pull a 100% working engine out... :-) I have all the problems worked out now, the engine is sitting on a stand just waiting for me to install it. I am waiting on one last thing, the exhaust can be done a few ways, and I'm leaning towards the custom headers route... Precision 4X4 Center is working on making me a custom set so i can use it with the auto shiftier in our units. I will show it off once I have it in my hands! I don't think I will be able to make it to the Toy-in again this year, the roof project I am doing still need to be finished and don't think it can be finished in time. Cheers, Andrew
  9. Hi Wayne, I remember your RV from the Toy-in, it is very nice! I would follow along in the footsteps of a few people and do the engine swap. The Tacoma V6 engine bolts into your engine bay, you just need to worry about the exhaust, electrical, and hood clearance. There are shops that will do all of this for you for around $4,000 or you can do it your self if you’re good with a wrench for much less… Here is some light reading for you: http://toyotamotorhome.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=413 (Post # 24) http://www.yotatech.com/f160/superchiems-toyota-rv-5vz-swap-243241/ http://www.yotatech.com/f160/toyota-motorhome-3-0-swap-237494/ 2 of the shops that will do this swap for you: http://www.toyonlyswaps.com/ http://www.toyotafiberglass.com/ Local BC guy, very, very good! Andrew.
  10. Yes, you are right. Front mounted mechanical pump. It is driven by the camshaft. The pump has three hoses to/from it. one from the tank, another back to the tank and one to the carb. I had a problem on the one from the tank... the clamp was not clamping and the hose was worn yada yada... causing the fuel to drain back to the tank over a few days... when i would try and start it I don't remember it almost starting... I just remember it not starting until I primed it with gas again. This was in the mid to late 80's so my memory is working hard :-) I do remember that my fuel filter would be empty as well... that was easy to check, just remove it from the holder on the fender, it will be light and empty. Hope it helps! Andrew.
  11. I agree ! :-) -- Now i'm thirsty and i just started work... One other thing to look at here... I had a 1981 Toyota PU that did the same thing, it took me forever to find out that the fuel line had a small leak somewhere. I think it was on a clamp that was not squishing enough. Anyways, it was allowing the fuel to slowly drain back to the tank. When starting the pump did not have enough "pull" to get it back up from the tank so it would not start. I had to use gas that i poured directly into the carb to get it going. If i left it for more than a few days, I would have to do this every time. Andrew.
