  1. Wow Nice job! would love to drive. Keep us posted.Positive everytime
  2. Ha! HA! Got a good laugh. Hitch looks damn good to me. Anyway the only hazard is for the people behind you, like wife or ex wife! Hitch is much more considerable and safe than mine. Happy travels
  3. http://alfaparts.net/toyotapu84.htm In need of rocker panels for Mirage and only found this place which is in Canada. I'm in usa. It says usa may impose tax. Anyone have any thoughts or experience with importing new car parts into usa. Or any leads on new rocker panels in usa. Any other rusty ppl out there. Thanks and keep on Rockin!
  4. There have been a couple posts asking about scooter carriers lately. I have been reluctant to post because i have no picts. I bought a 4" bumper mounted receiver bolted it on and had it reinforced by welding. Nothing major though i didnt add steel tubing as i wanted. Then i have adapted a metal hitch storage rack to fit my 50cc scooter. i secure scooter to eyelets in rack with 4 ratchet straps. But you could by real scooter carrier. I have not taken it on long travels just to local spots. I wouldnt recommend my setup for Mexico.I would get real carrier and have it reinforced. Hows your bumper? Rusty? You could replace as others have and then reinforce new bumper. I just couldn't afford it. Love that you go down to Mexico makes me dream. Hows the roads? good luck! http://www.ebay.com/itm/RV-4-4-1-2-Bumper-Hitch-Mount-Receiver-Adapter-Swagman-/230950410579?pt=Motors_ATV_Parts_Accessories&hash=item35c5b79953&vxp=mtr
  5. Heres a real nice Mirage with a 350 chevy and cool paint job! Is it still a Toyota? I'd love to drive this thing.VRooommm http://sarasota.craigslist.org/rvs/3918790950.html
  6. I agree my Shasta rear dinette with large window is useless. Maybe with a lens. Mirage has window in rear door that's eye level and much more useful than Shasta.
  7. I was thinking about selling it. It does have auto trans with overdrive which you should never use only downhill. It had aftermarket a/c in it but when I changed engine 15 years ago it came out. It does NOT have fully floating axle but may have upgraded axle being an 85. Quite rusty living in RI. Never left me stranded ...except when I run out of gas. I think when new gas tank went in low gas light didn't get hooked up. Its seen all lower 48
  8. I need um too! ...But was thinking of getting rid of my Mirage?? Mirage will hold plenty but will go slower than other vehicles suggested. I get 17-18 MPG so gutted it should go faster and better mpg. But what medium do you work in. If ceramic or metal you might consider other vehicles. I'm all for more Mirage's out on the road. So get one.I love when I see another!
  9. I finally got Bilsteins for Shasta in the rear Part Number: 24188203/ Alternate Part Number: F4B460257H1 From autozone both for $114 delivered. And kyb in the front part # 343209 $83.44 out the door also from Autozone. Then returned old shocks and got $87 refund from warranty for 4 shocks that I bought for Mirage 10 years ago. Guess it pays to have 2 of same vehicle ,for once. Another $100 for install. So not too bad. Noticed no more bouncing in the front on highway. Took a ride in the back and was quite impressed. A lot less rattle and bounce.
  10. Our campers have a pipe that runs up to the roof to vent gases. That's what the pict with the black large diameter pipe is,prob 1 1/2inch. The grey water pipes in these are obsolete. So tapping into it is problematic. Its hard to dissect without seeing it in person. But I think people have used shark-bite fittings to add/mend this grey stuff. That valve is a drain valve for winterization and emptying system. You could run a new city connection to fresh water tank using pex. Inside install shutoff valve then pipe to tank. There is usually a fitting screwed into tank. Back that fitting out and install new fitting adding your new pex line. Then when you hook up to city you'd open valve inside bathroom which would fill tank. Hope this helps a little.
  11. Can you explain/ show the load carrier springs. Do you have to remove leaf to install? I want 3 inch more clearance. How much?
  12. Cool rv with front sun room/bed! http://www.motherearthnews.com/home-on-wheels-sunray-kelley.aspx#axzz2NYgy7YVx
  13. I'm no mechanic but I had problem with my rv 10+ years ago with high temps and mechanic checked everything had different temperature thermostat installed and problem solved. Although ever since it gets close to hot upon initial warm up every time run and then drops to below mid. Stays that way in 100+ temps in gridlock. No Ac just a thought
  14. I tried to get Bilsteins this past fall and it seems bilstein hasn't made a "batch" in awhile and cant/wont say when they'll make another. After buying some online and never received I asked why not and they said temporarily not available as did Autozone and Advanced and 2 other local places. Many places list them online and take your money but none stock and can't order them. Any ideas? I bought some other brand and mechanic told me to return to Zone cause they were already leaking and not to bother with anything but Bilsteins.
  15. I put a 50cc scooter on a modified hitch mounted luggage carrier on the back of Shasta. Luggage carrier sunk a little due to cutting carrier. I cut so wheel would fit as carrier was too short. I use ratchet straps to secure scoot to tie down holes in carrier. Sorry no picts
  16. I have a corrugated fiberglass Shasta.I fiberglassed with epoxy resin entire new plywood roof with one piece of biaxial cloth and covered one roof sidewall seam as well. Cloth was too short to cover both. Also epoxied rear corner seams with strip of cloth as well. No leaks in those areas. I still need to deal with front cabover seams. Would like to glass those as well.
  17. Seems like fall is when people decide weather or not they'll use it next year. Heres a couple for price comparison. Mirage 22re mpg 17-18 Shasta 22re mpg disappointing 13.4 last 600 mile trip http://newlondon.cra...3321233990.html http://worcester.cra...3294687996.html http://newlondon.cra...3316659435.html http://cnj.craigslis...3260377102.html http://newjersey.cra...3323539416.html
  18. Thanks everyone I meant wheel stud not nut. I bought 6 regular threaded studs while only needing 2 between two different stores. I figured i'd change them all to regular thread since tire store broke studs on me. I also bought nice chrome nuts. Well got Shasta to my mechanic and he discovered i only needed one new stud and highly recommended i go to dealer and get one reverse threaded stud. He said its safer and also told me to return chrome nuts as they tend to work themselves off rim, and just use old nuts. So off to dealer to order stud. Waiter, both ends of studs are threaded so i dont think you can bang em out. One end gets threaded into drum i think?
  19. Need to replace rear broken wheel lug any ideas. Found plenty regular lugs but no reverse threaded. Haven't tried dealer yet.
  20. I put in a few of these halogen ceiling lights and some just like it but without switches which were cheaper. Love em You can put led bulbs in em too. i guess halogen bulbs are battery drainers but no problems here. http://www.ebay.com/itm/12-VOLT-HALOGEN-RECESSED-CEILING-LIGHT-CHROME-W-SWITCH-/330605662191?pt=Boat_Parts_Accessories_Gear&vxp=mtr&hash=item4cf9a20fef
  21. Anyone recently buy hinges for their overhead cabinets. I bought some from Rockler Hardware but they are 75 degree and no good. i need to return Heres a link to an example? http://www.americanr...-RV_p_7458.html I've seen some in picts which are different than these and have a sliding mechanism and then struts. Any ideas any preference? Please
  22. You should go to the rally in Sturbridge so you can check out different models and layouts. Heck i got 2 different models you can check out in RI.
  23. My Shasta was screwed in but i didnt know so i broke it off. Replaced floor then dropped tank unscrewed broken flange then bought another closet flange. It was too long, proud of floor, so i bought male/female adapter that i still had to cut to make perfect. I asked here but no answered so i broke it off!
  24. One to fill tanks the other possibly is city connection to have water in sink/toilet without use of water pump. SHould have three fitting 1 filler, 2 city connection, 3 water heater filler. ANyone with picts of their sewer/grey drains???????
  25. I also did some audio fixin yesterday too. I installed new front speakers and put home speakers in the back cabinet after installing new cd/radio with ipod input and usb port for flash drive. I hope to install car speakers in the ceiling at some point. If you want more than 4 speakers how do you do it? Just tap into existing speaker wire? Does the wattage decrease when doing this? I also want to hook radio up to rear battery as i have killed engine battery while listening to music in the past. I thought i had to run wire back to rear battery. Can I somehow tap into rear battery from engine compartment?
