  1. Have any of you ever tried this. 5 or 6 car lengths behind a semi and the wind coming off the truck whips you back and forth like there's no tomorrow. Besides the fact that if someone pulls in front of that truck you can kiss your behind goodbye. Or are we talking about cars here that actually stop when you brake Linda S
  2. I don't. The 19 can be gotten on relatively flat terrain at just a kick under 60 and the 14 is when I'm doing 65 plus. Of course there's not a lot of plus beyond that 65 but I can do 70 pretty easy if I don't have much cross wind. Handling get to be a pain then. Linda S
  3. Well lets not forget the motorhomes. 1986 toyota cab and chassis automatic EPA 12mpg my experience with an 18ft Sunrader 14 to 19 mpg Makes you wonder if it was ever tested at all Linda S
  4. The same group 27 and 29 batteries are listed in both of those links so I think thats your answer to what ones you should use. Walmart doesn't sell those batteries online so as far as the complete specs I think they expect you to see them in the store. Amp hours are clearly marked on my battery Linda S
  5. Well I'm wondering what your looking at when you say it's just a sheet of MDF. Look here and scroll down to see what your floor should be made of. There is a 3/4 inch sheet of foam under there and I have fixed the floor on my Sunrader and the top layer was definately plywood, not MDF http://f1.grp.yahoofs.com/v1/kNz2UAVk7Wz_tjxYulTmVmVWCUJ6YX21uaQjfQgdXaG2zK3M2rOMBucEiTldTmb7WRoxMAyhISIGdNCM2cOxnt7t2369Gw4/Coach%20Manufacturer%27s%20Information/Owners%20Manuals%20and%20Brochures%2C%20Etc./Sunrader/Sunrader%20Brochures/SunraderClassics.pdf I don't know if you belong to the toyota-campers group on yahoo but you might need to join to see this. Kind of wondering if someone didn't add the mdf to strengthen the original floor Linda S
  6. Well that gives me an idea of what I'm facing. Worse case scenario is I have it towed to a shop when I fail. I'm pretty stubborn though Linda S
  7. Since this conversation has switched to diesels can anyone give me some tips on getting the alternator out of a 99 Jetta tdi 1.9 It looks to be completely surrounded and most of the darn hoses there are AC lines that I can't remove. Not home to do the job until Tuesday but sure would like some ideas. Linda S
  8. Steve had some really good ideas started before the big goof. You guys need to talk. Linda S
  9. Not like a tire where the schraeder valve goes right into the tire. You have long air hoses and they will clog completely. You won't be able to let air in or out. Soapy water in a spray bottle and find out the real problem. No reason to destroy an expensive airbag system for nothing. Much less trouble to just check the air every few days. Not like it's in storage and too much trouble to get to. Linda S
  10. In Steve's defense he had spent hours deleting and banning all the spammers who had crashed our site and it was late and he just hit the wrong key. Big mistake but I'm sure everything will be fine soon. Thanks Greg Linda S He get a free I made a mistake pass today cause it's his Birthday
  11. So do you guys think it might be a bad idea to send them a message in Russian. I'm getting so tired of this I feel like I need to take out my agression somewhere. Deleted like 100 posts and topics today. Oh and it would not be a nice message at all. I can swear with the best of them and easy to translate on google. Linda S
  12. And is it a Microlite. The older models are just as loud as the Kohlers Linda S
  13. Well the real winner would be a Vixen with the BMW turbo diesel. 25mpg is a realistic figure on what they can get Linda
  14. The main reason for the generator is to run the Air conditioner. If you don't need it for that yeah sell it. Thats alot of batteries Linda S
  15. I have a friend who might have a complete axle with springs. He had it for sale a while back and I don't think he sold it. You would have to pick it up but it's about 150 miles away instead of 400. PM me if your serious and I will call him. Came out a toyota motorhome with less than 50,000 miles on it Linda Includes wheels and I think he wanted 500 for it
  16. Gross vehicle weight rating of your rig is 4650lbs. You might already be close to that. I recommend you take it to a public scale and have it weighed. Only then will you know how much leeway you have. If already close make a 2 vehicle trip with the extra car carrying some of the gear. Linda S
  17. This is not my site. I am just the babysitter. The most I can do is warn you and put the offenders in temporary detention. Hopefully the owners will find a solution to the problem. This site is a great resource and has tons of information and if a new home is neccessary I'm sure it will take time. In the mean time just don't click on the obviously suspicious links and everything will be fine. We are in luck. Their English sucks so they are easy to pick out. Linda S
  18. The axles I looked at car-part were all within 200 miles. Some less. go get it. Labor for most of the people I have heard from is around a grand to install in a motorhome. Can't imagine it would ever be less than 6 or 7 hundred. Consider the extra at least a grand you will get for the 84 with the correct axle Linda S
  19. To everyone on this site. We are being deluged with spam postings. I have been deleting them for an hour and they come as fast as I can delete them. Warning the IP address is Russian and if you click on any link it will be a virus. The worst kind of virus and very hard to get rid of. It is a key reading virus that will be able to see every keystroke you make. Passwords, bank statements. Do not take a peek for any reason. Our spam blocker has completely broken down and I can't sit here all day. Steve the message you left about these spammers in the news section asks for suggestions but no replys are possible in that posting. Please correct it so people can give you some ideas about how to stop this Linda S
  20. No cause it will still cost more to switch both axles than just buy one and put it in the 82 and you will get much more out of the 84 when you sell it. Just talking money here Linda S
  21. Not fullfloaters that will easily fit a toyota motorhome. Most too narrow and offset rear end instead of centered.. You'd need a driveshaft custom work. Already a big job so why make it even more difficult if you don't have to Linda S
  22. Car-part is wrong on the ratio's. All the full floaters are 4.10 or 4.30. Don't know where that 3.9 info came from but we asked on the toyota campers site and no one had a 3.9. My friend upgraded his Sunrader 4x4 with an axle that said on car part that it was 3.9 and in a 4x4 you know it has to match the front. Well it was 4.10. I think the axles used on the old ones with fake duallies might have been 3.9 and thats where the confusion is from. I searched 1990 toyota axle and then it just says dual wheel 1 ton no ratio. You can't search the actual year of the vehicle if it is before 1986 cause they were not full floaters Linda S
  23. Stevo has aleady said he had an 84 21ft Sunrader with the full float axle so yes I was assuming he was talking about that one. Still doesn't make sense money wise to do 2 complete swaps when axles are available. Especially if you have to pay a mechanic to do it. Linda S
