  1. I use a stove top espresso maker which I also use at home Linda S
  2. Unless you have someone local to the rv to check it out I think that is too far to go for an RV that old. Your trusting the owner to be truthful a little too much and so much can happen. Nothing like being broke down a thousand miles from home to ruin your day or month. There are usually plenty of toyhomes that come up for sale in Colorado. When you include the cost of your flight and gas to get home your paying 5 grand for an 84. Too high in my opinion. Don't know where you live in Co but maybe you should check out some closer. No pics on this one but he probably could send you some http://santafe.craigslist.org/rvs/3699184338.html The fuel injected engine is much more adaptable to high altitudes than the carb model. The southeast dosn't freeze but it rains a bunch and a bad vent can compromise the whole rig with rot. Phoenix, Las Vegas tons of places hundreds of miles closer with dry climates and lots of campers. Linda S
  3. Did ya get the hidden hoses. There's one kind of behind your alternator and another one on the other side under the injecter stuff. Linda S
  4. you have tape over it so I can't see if it's the one where a screw holds the lens in place or the one where it just pops in to notches. Both styles have been discontinued but there were some lenses left for sale on ebay. Just checked and they all appear to be gone. I posted that they were discontinued on the toyota-campers yahoo group and they seem to all have been purchased. I did buy one of these though for my Sunrader. Needed to englarge the hole a little but it fits OK and works. ON check out I missed the chance to order an aluminum frame or white instead of the black so if you buy one keep an eye out for that option. http://www.ebay.com/itm/LIGHTED-DOOR-HANDLE-01234-/400272414091?pt=Motors_RV_Trailer_Camper_Parts_Accessories&hash=item5d3218558b&vxp=mtr Linda S
  5. A rear frame extension doesn't change the wheelbase. The 137 inch wheelbase from Toyota was only available in 1986 and newer rigs. Doesn't explain the longer wheelbases listed in the link Derek posted. Would be nice if some pre 86 owners measured their rigs wheelbase and we got some more info on this. Linda S
  6. The variations would seem to indicate aftermarket chassis alterations. I have both a hard copy of the Sunrader brochures for 1984 and 1986. The 1984 says nothing about wheelbase but the 1986 shows 112 for the shorty and 137 for all other models. The 143 for the Sunrader's listed here explains why when Zack ,veganpike, was visiting me, his Sunrader looked so long. Wish I had thought to measure it. Kind of extra scary when you consider all these rigs came with fake duallies Linda S
  7. of course it's possible they were extended by the manufacturer but Toyota doesn't list them on their brochure. That's all I know. Best if he measures his wheelbase to know for sure. Linda
  8. Then he should tell them it's a camper cab and chassis and it's 112 inches . That's what Toyota calls it in the brochure Linda S
  9. The toyota brochure from 1985 shows 112 as the wheelbase for the camper cab and chassis. It's not until 1986 that the longer 137 inch wheelbase is available. I would still check yours and make sure the manufacturer didn't lengthen the chassis but you still have to consider the length of your coach. I think some Dolphins have the exhaust all the way to the back but Sunraders exhaust comes out behind the rear wheel. I'm thinkin stock exhaust is not going to work. Linda S
  10. Why are you running the gen instead of just plugging into shore power to recharge your coach battery. If your looking at the charge on your moniter panel it's not uncommon for them to not be very accurate. Not a good idea to ever run any battery down to nothing. Might not be charging properly now even though I think you just bought a new one. Linda S
  11. Lots on ebay. I would try to find one with all the tank wires because of the age of yours. I have 2 Sunraders. One of them has a vertical type and the other has the horizontal type. Get one as close to shape and size as yours to fill the hole properly http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_odkw=monitor+panel&_qfkw=1&_mqf=0&_osacat=50067&_from=R40&_trksid=p2045573.m570.l1313&_nkw=monitor+panel&_sacat=50067 Linda S
  12. This might be different but cheap to replace the whole slide mechanism http://www.campingworld.com/shopping/item/drawer-slide-repair-kit/49545 Linda S
  13. I have seen one truck with a seat like that. Mid 80's Nissan had a seat that made a little bed when folded down to the rear. You had to move the seat bottom all the way forward first. Probably going to be hard to find. Don't know the width but surely narrower than a Dakota Linda S
  14. So Gregor. Do you know what brand yours is. Got to be a tag somewhere Linda S
  15. I'm surprised by that. My Toyota Sunrader air bags don't leak at all and it's an 86. my Nissan Sunrader has a very slow leak, needs air every 2 months at the most. and it was rescued from a field in New York after sitting there uncared for for 2 years and it spent most of it's life in Alaska. I don't find many complaints about them on the Toyota-campers site either. They seem to hold air well or not at all Linda S
  16. My Sunrader has the paneling behind the window trim too.Might be a good idea for Montana to drill out the old screws and replace them. Can't reseal the windows properly unless he does anyway. Linda S
  17. That never happened. That release is quite old and I saw it long after that. Just a couple of small panels up there. I saw it when he was still working at Harbin Hot Springs in northern Cal. When I saw it for sale it was in southern Cal. Was kind of worried he had passed but it seems he's fine. Still don't know if he ever sold the Toy. Linda
  18. I have seen this rig in person. Some time after that it was on craigslist for sale. I think he wanted over 15 grand. Looks great but very unwieldly. Can't imagine trying to drive it with that much wind resistance. It's also all wood construction and very heavy. Linda S
  19. OK I did have some trouble getting some of them out. That's why I softened them with hot soapy water. Kept dipping a towel in a bucket and soaking the gaskets. I had 2 windows that were leaking between the glass and the frame. Use Captain tollys creeping crack sealer on them and they are fine now. need to do it in warm weather and with window sitting flat on a table. Then installed rubber seal and reinstalled window. The non leaking windows I installed the rubber gaskets with the window in place. Pop it in and cut with razor at the end. Diagonal cuts where the ends come together. Come on guys. I'm an old lady and this isn't rocket science. Linda S
  20. Like I said before I use mine for leveling so I keep a small 12 volt air compressor in my rig. Put them up and down whenever. Bought it at Big Lots for maybe 20 bucks. Check and make sure it's got a long cord to reach. If not long enough you can buy extensions for them Linda S
  21. The trim I removed from my 1993 Tiger Provan was dried up and hard. I would not recommend keeping trim like that. It takes years for that trim to dry enough to shrink like that. Montana's Chinook is a 78 and that might be the original trim. He needs new stuff Linda S
  22. No you can not. Your vehicle has not been altered. It is factory original and was legal to sell in America when it was built. . If your original lights work you are fine. Out of all the Sunraders like yours on the road all these years why do you think they would single you out. Linda S
  23. Yes they just come out and new ones push in. you can pour hot soapy water on the old ones too to help get them out. Only important thing is to get the right ones Linda S
  24. Ya know I mentioned in an earlier post about someone who removed his clearance lights from his later model Sunrader. Just looked back at old emails and he lives in Washington. He did a really good job and you can't tell they were ever there but he didn't have any trouble registering his rig Linda s
  25. An 87 Sunrader was listed in the Bay area a while ago from a toyota-campers member with a little higher mileage for just under 10 grand. Sold in 2 days. Linda S
