  1. So I assume your engine work finally worked out all right. Keep track of your mileage. I'm sure we would all like to know how good it does Linda S
  2. Sorry, There are quite a few possible configurations on the rear wheels of these Sunraders. Original is fake 15 inch dually. Upgraded gives you a true full floater but 14 inch wheels in the back and 15 in the front which you have. Many Sunrader 4x4 owners have had custom 15 inch duallies made. Then you no longer have to worry about the wheels not being in sync when your in 4x4 mode. They are available at this place but I'm sure you already spent a lot of money on your rig. Might be worth considering though before you buy new and expensive tires http://www.customcommercialwheel.com/ Linda S
  3. I can see you still have Burning Man on your mind. Saw a Crew headed that way last weekend with a very similar platform. Disc Fish? looked like a DJ platform. Fun. As long as support is on the ground before anyone gets up there I think it's completely doable. I'm kind of weird but I love sitting on the roof of my Sunrader. Wouldn't bring a crowd with me but it's so peaceful up there. Linda S
  4. Have your grandaughter check the circuits for the plugs closest to the driveway. At my house that would be my washing machine and that is a 20 amp circuit. Then run the shortest heaviest duty extension cord you can use. Should be enough to run your AC Linda
  5. My brother in law use to have a place near Eureka Mt. Never got to visit while he lived there but looking at those pics sure wish I had just gone. Beautiful Linda S
  6. The decal design looks like a Huntsman but much older than 84. it's a 83 or earlier chassis so could be 80 to 83 at the lastest. probably not a full float axle so it's no great bargan. see like this pic on our site. same rig and this is a 1980 http://toyotamotorhome.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=4473 Linda S
  7. Here are some . The 6x6.5 flat or convex and the clip to attach them. Available with white or SS back http://store.stepvanparts.com/MIRROR-HEAD-GLASS-VELVAC-DUAL.HTM Linda S
  8. The only AC that I know will work with a gen set that size is the Coleman Polar Cub 9200btu. There is a thing called a hard start capacitator that you can add to your AC but don't know if it will work with a 20 year old one. Like this http://www.dyersonline.com/dometic-a-c-start-capacitor-47-56-250v.html?utm_medium=shoppingengine&utm_source=googlebase&gclid=CKfzw_D-nrkCFaU5Qgodk2cAeg Linda S
  9. Ya know I just realized it but both of these Sunrader 4x4's had the upgraded axle and true duallies. If your rig still has the older style fake duallies these wider tires might not fit. There are some 195r15 tires available. Let me know what you have and I will look for some but pretty sure I'm not going to be able to find an AT tire. I do have a friend with the fake duallies. I will email him and ask what tire's he has Linda S Well the goodrich tire I posted above does come in a 195 size and the load range is high enough http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?tireMake=BFGoodrich&tireModel=All-Terrain+T%2FA+KO&sidewall=Raised White Letters&partnum=975R4ARAKORWL&tab=Specs Whole link won't come through. It's at Tire Rack online. Of course if you don't plan on buying at tires just let me know and I will find what you need Linda S
  10. Hey Jack welcome. Your Sunrader 4x4 has 15 inch tires and you need to find ones with a heavy enough load rating for your camper. Here's are a couple I know have been used by Sunrader 4x4 owners http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?tireMake=BFGoodrich&tireModel=All-Terrain+T%2FA+KO&partnum=175SR5ATAKORWLV2&vehicleSearch=false&fromCompare1=yes Yes your wheels will fit a 215 tire And another tire I know a sunrader 4x4 owner bought http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?tireMake=Yokohama&tireModel=Geolandar+A%2FT-S&partnum=175SR5GEOATSOWL&vehicleSearch=false&fromCompare1=yes&tab=Specs Linda S
  11. Your rear tires are not going to notice if one side is a few hundred lbs different from the other. I know you have the right tires so they are rated at over 7000lbs just on the rear. If you manage to get that much stuff in your camper the floor will fall through first. Linda S
  12. Well you move around a lot so I don't know where you are right now but just google public scales in your zip code area then call them and see if they have room on either side of their scale for you to drive it on one side then the other. They will probably charge you extra for it but none of them cost very much. Is there some reason you need to know side to side weight. is it driving funny or not handling right? Linda S
  13. Well you can buy one from a toyota dealer. They come in white and silver. This is a discount toyota parts dealer I think in Texas. If you want to order locally just copy the part number http://www.toyotapartszone.com/Page_Product/PartDetail.aspx?model=TRUCK,PICKUP&year=1991&catalogCode=672450&VAID=3602,3615&selectConditions=(12=USA;1=3VZE;5=ATM;6=4HC;7=RCB;8=WT)&subModel=JPP-2%20WHEEL%20DRIVE&originCountry=(12=USA)&sectionID=2&componentsID=41-03 Linda S
  14. We're talking about Debbit's fridge here and both her electric and propane heaters seem to be working fine. Only thing left to fix is the cooling unit. Your anecdotal evidence has nothing to do with her fridge. Linda S
  15. I am so sorry.I am the one who recommended them. I had never gone there but many toyota-campers members had and all good responses.Maybe they started getting cocky with all the new business. Hope they fix it right this time Linda S
  16. I think it might be hard to find someone who had only the head gasket work done and nothing else after all this time. Most I have heard about took the opportunity to have a bunch of other work as long as the engine was pulled apart to save money on future repairs. You could always ask on the toyota-campers site if anyone would like to share their experience with getting it done. Linda S
  17. Your insistance that you are right does not coincide with my experience on these groups. Yes I was there when both cooling units were installed on my fridges and nothing else was done. Once at a cooling unit rebuilder near me where they walked me through their rebuilding process and I saw everything they did and once by my son-in-law. For all the other members who have done the same repair I have no reason to assume they were lying about their experiences. I'm sure most people would rather brag about fixing a 20 dollar switch than having to repalce a 400 dollar cooling unit. I must assume that you are just increadibly lucky with the ones you find Linda S
  18. New Horizons are very well built motorhomes but many did not get the axle upgrade. That is the first thing to look at. Then you have to check for water damage. Water stains anywhere. Soft paneling. Look under overhead bed mattress. Check all appliances and make sure they work. Always have to remember this is almost 30 years old. Lots of stuff wears out in that time if it hasn't been upgraded or carefully maintained Linda S
  19. Yes It's almost always the cooing unit. Out of 4 motorhomes I have ever bought 2 of them had non working fridges. Cooling units on both were replaced and both work fine now. In 9 years on toyota motorhomes sites I have heard of dozens and dozens of cooling unit replacements and almost never anything else that had gone bad outside of a broken knob from time to time. Linda S
  20. Well of course check those hoses you think the water is coming from. Follow where they go to. Yes to fill the fresh tank you have to put a hose into the outside fill thingy that says drinking water. Mine doen't say that but it's probably the right one. The city water hook up does not fill the tank and because of city water pressure you don't need to use the pump. You do need a pressure regulator on your hose or you will blow out your water lines. That might already be what happened. Both of those knobs on the drain release are turned sideways which seems to me would be closed buy try turning the the other way. Linda S
  21. The 400 it will cost for a new cooling unit is almost as cheap as a used one. I have heard of the turning it upside down thing before and I don't know anyone it worked for. Linda S
  22. Pipes into the water heater are pretty rusted. Yes some water heaters have electric ignition. If your coach battery is good and you have propane in the tanks and water in the fresh water tank it should light. Need to fix the leak first. So you know how to get into this area where is the leak coming from. Is it all wet in here? Got to narrow this down. Fill fresh water tank and run the water. If the leak is connected to the water system and not the outside water hook up it's easier to see without so much water pressure and you can stop it by stopping the pump. Linda S
  23. My Sunrader has a little ring you pull up near the water pump.Different floor plans have them in different places but checking for the drain tube will work. Very likely you just have broken pipes though. Your going to have to find out where exactly the leak is coming from and most importantly if there is water inside somewhere. You might have to take some things apart to let it dry out. The water heater is probably not electric start and you light them from the outside. Open door and they light much like a home water heater. Turn to pilot and hold switch down while you light it with a barbeque lighter, then hold for about 30 seconds to warm thermocouple and turn to on. Check and make sure it's stays lit. Linda S
  24. According to the Dolphin brochures on file in the toyota-camper group on yahoo the wheelbase for the 1982 is 132 inches. Linda S
