  1. I do love my oven but I wouldn't use it while driving. When it's heating up the flame is quite large but once it reaches cooking temp there is just the little pilot on. Little pilots can go out. I know my fridge pilot does sometimes but thats outside the camper. The oven pilot is inside. With the pilot not lit, gas will accumilate inside the hot oven and could be a problem. Linda S
  2. Woops...sorry, I suppose I should have checked this more... I am in Vandenberg Village, California... which is near Santa Barbara... did you ever get the rally together? If you go the the main page index there is a section just for rallies. There is one in a couple of weeks in Felton Ca near Santa Cruz just a couple of weels away hosted by Greg the owner of this site. There is also another one held in the spring down near San Diego but not planned yet for next year. http://toyotamotorhome.org/forums/index.php?showforum=8 Linda S
  3. I've been up there at least 3 or 4 times in my Sunrader 4 banger. It's the small one but I have to go the hard way over Tioga Pass. 395 is a much easier grade. Used to have family who lived near Crowley lake As to what you should buy just remember the cheaper it is almost always means the more work it needs. Cheaper is not always cheaper Linda S
  4. If it's acting funny add a quart of lucas transmission fix when you refill. It has kept mine shifting smoothly for years and it didn't shift too nice when I got it.t The Lucas stuff is very thick. I put the bottle in a pan of hot water before I try to pour it in. Linda S
  5. The filter is a metal screen and probably doesn't need relacement. I did do mine but there was nothing really on it when I took it off. No need to drop the whole pan if you don't repace the screen either. Just remove the drain plug. I do mine slightly warm and it gets more out. Buy 5 quarts but you won't need all of it. Start checking levels after 4. Full flush is 6.9 quarts but your not going to get all of it out. Chiltons says Dextron 2 but think I used Dextron 3?. If you drop the pan you will need a new gasket too Linda S
  6. Well the biggy would be the power center converter. I don't know if there is a safety fuse between that and the power cord itself. Others on the site know more about that stuff. This is America. We don't use 220 to power anything more than big power draws like stoves and dryers. That 30 amp plug won't even fit into 220 so how did you get it in there Linda S
  7. There is no 220 power cord and if you managed to plug it into a 220 power source you have probably blown the converter and everything else. That is a 30 amp 110 plug. In an Rv park it plugs into the outlet there but at home you need an adapter for it like this http://www.campingworld.com/shopping/item/30-amp-rv-female-to-15-amp-male-adapter/69604 The AC works on 110 only, not battery power, but won't work if you've blown the system. Linda S
  8. It looks like a great job but way more work than using butyl tape. I just hate taping stuff off no matter that I'm putting up. I did all the regular framed winodws on my Sunrader, so 5 including the big one in the back, in one day. Had no help except for having someone on the outside when I put the big one back in just in case. Butyl tape is so sticky I didn't even need him. Couldn't have done that using sealant. Linda S
  9. Sounds pretty gone but if you have the room and skills to part it out you will probably end up with enough money to buy another one next year. Air conditioner $200 Refrigerator $200 to $400 Axle and wheels $1000 Furnace $200 Stove $200 Windows 25 each And the list goes on . You can get much more parting it than the way it is Linda S Oops just noticed fridge is dead but lots of other stuff there to sell
  10. I don't understand how you can drive 2000 miles and lose no oil or coolant and have a head gasket leak. Linda S
  11. Nice job of putting that screen in too. I see new counter tops and floor. I'm working on a Sunrader for my daughter and she and her husband are serious gamers. I just hope they never see yours or I will have a lot more work to do Linda S
  12. Perhaps both of you should refrain from this petty bickering. I have sent a link of this thread to the owner of the website. You both compromise your integrity and put a shadow on the many other good things and advice you offer. Enough Linda S
  13. Like Derek said he uses many names. Holodrama, kangaroo dreaming, Kanga man, and several others that I can't remember now. Also has sold with other names from Sacramento and southern cal. Feedback on a vehicle often gets posted before you find the problems and then you have no way to change it. My friend Ken was asked to leave feedback right away before he left Portland and he stupidly did it cause the rig looked good. Linda S
  14. I think it's the third this year. He was totally missing in the spring though, his usual money making time Linda S
  15. He needed to be driving one of these http://www.camillc.com/terrawind.htm Linda S
  16. This seller is well known on the toyota-camper site. He does a great job of detailing but some buyers have ended up having serious mechanical problems. A friend of mine bought a 4x4 Sunrader from him and barely made it home to northern Cal. The mileage had been altered by 100,000 miles and the engine was shot. Linda S
  17. Greg used to use that as the graphic for the site. I think he's the one who photoshopped that. He use to have a Sunrader 4x4 but now he has a Gulfstream. Gulfstream Greg is his user name but he doesn't use that pic anymore Linda S
  18. I actually did some calling around in my area for rubber roof material. All the places I called directed me to Ford Wholesale, not the car company, here in San Jose. They only order in bulk so not someone an RV owner could use and the white stuff runs 3 times the cost of the black no matter how much you order. Also found that the rubber roof material used on many rv's is not EPDM but TPO. White all the way through instead of just a white laminated surface like EPDM. I would guess that building codes here are the reason it's not very available here so can't really price compare locally Linda S
  19. I just measured mine and at the lowest point it is 8 1/4 inches off the ground. I have never had any problems with that at all. never hit anything yet. So I would say you are fine Linda S
  20. My step goes up under the camper quite a ways before the attachment points. Measure from underneath and see how far it goes up there to get to the inside camper step area. I will measure mine this afternoon. Got to go but be back in a couple of hours Linda
  21. Have you looked underneath to see if there are holes already there? I've never seen a toyota motorhome that didn't originally have steps. I have the same exact step on my Sunrader. Had to rebuild the foor area there so guage how thick the plywood is there are make sure it's strong enough to hold the step. Shouldn't be too complicated. Mine hasn't fallen off yet. Yes I drilled new holes in the new wood and used lock nuts on the bolts and partially sunk the top of the bolts into the wood to make sure it wouldn't loosen up. Then I put down wood strips and another layer of plywood to cover bolt heads and get a nice smooth step inside Linda S
  22. If you have seen docs saying no one is covered I'm sure we would like to see them or at least know where you found them. Linda S
  23. I think JD is somewhere near Oneonta. Can't be too far from you. Maybe he can help.He sure knows his engines Linda S
  24. I have been using this one for a number of years now. More than enough to cool a tiny Sunrader and I use it in my home too. I bought mine at Big Lots at the end of the summer for 200 bucks and I have more than gotten my use out of it. http://www.target.com/p/haier-8-000-btu-portable-air-conditioner/-/A-12213123?ref=tgt_adv_XSG10001&AFID=Google_PLA_df&LNM=|12213123&CPNG=Home+Improvement&kpid=12213123&LID=PA&ci_src=17588969&ci_sku=12213123&gclid=CPPP9Yen1rkCFYs1QgodMmcAlw They say it weighs 56 lbs. No way. feels like 40, maybe 45. Linda S Better explain how I use it. Passenger seat goes all the way forward and have small platform to sit it on even with camper floor. vent goes out passenger window and curtain separates front cab from coach area and AC cooling vent.
  25. yes I use a portable Ac in my Sunrader if I can't avoid super hot locations. No need to carry all that extra weight around when I live so close to the ocean. This unit looks pretty good to me. I do have a hitch carrier I use that it would fit on and since my Sunrader is so small it would be great to have it outside. I was looking around for more pics to see the window kit and I found a much better price too. Includes shipping for $499 http://www.bjs.com/gracious-living-airworks-12000-btu-portable-air-conditioner.product.236584 Linda S
