  1. Her Winnebago tank is an ASME tank not a DOT tank. No certification needed Linda S
  2. There is no poster on this thread who owns a Sunrader except for me. If someone is sending you messages privately please keep it that way. Your responding to a conversation we have no knowledge of is confusing and not permitted as of now. Linda S
  3. Yes you posted pictures. The person who started this thread didn't. He never said his alternator was from a Dodge. Whose question are you answering here. Linda S
  4. The more I use mine the less it squeaks. Linda S
  5. JD what photo. I see no photos except for the ones you posted and no new pics in the photo section. Linda S
  6. Can't see the rear axle. Is it 5 lugs or 6. needs to be 6 Linda S
  7. No single wheel early Dolphins were recalled or tandem axle RV's. Sunrader bought back every Chevy S10 Sunrader that they could find. Lots of these manufacturers were already out of business long before the recall. Sunrader is the only one who closed because of that recall. The full float axles were available from Toyota for free for those people. They had to pay to have it installed though. What spokesperson. Talk about anecdotal. Yes any axle can break. Even the full float ones. I have helped 2 people so far find axles for their broken full floater. Linda S
  8. I bought a van for my handicapped brother and I paid the price mostly because it had almost new Michelin's on it. they developed bubbles on the side walls and it was apparently a common problem. Lots of complaint's on the internet. Sometimes a name is just a name. I would never spend the money for that brand again Linda S
  9. Not only does the recall apply to the little Sunraders, we have a member here whose Sunrader wheel broke off from axle failure not that long ago. I have heard of several that failed. Linda S
  10. I don't know if that stuff breaks down. You want all the gasket material to sit on a solid surface with maximum adhesion underneath. Glue and spray foam don't sound compatible to me. Linda S
  11. I wouldn't want to tackle the black tank but the gray tank on his Sunrader only has one inlet for the sink. That presses on with a rubber compression fitting. Whole tank rests on ledge underneath on one side and is held in place with steel strapping which can easily be replaced with new strapping. I will admit that many things I imagine to be a snap end up taking forever but I think it's a simple job Linda S
  12. I don't have anyone near here that I go to but this place is in Gilroy and has fantastic reviews. Can't hurt to let them look at it or at least talk to them http://www.preferred-automotive.com/toyota-service Linda S
  13. I have a friend near St Louis who has been looking for one too. She would be very happy with the current price if it runs. let me know if you have more info Linda S
  14. Wow sounds fantastic. Have all the kids with you? Sorry but I don't have a mechanic here. Son-in-law is my only resource and he isn't taking new clients. Hell he doesn't even like to work on mine anymore. Guess I ask too much of him. Linda S
  15. Your advantage is that you can do it yourself and take appropriate safety precautions. For the rest of us who have to depend on some guy at a hitch install place I would just remove the tank. That is something most of us can do. I have never removed any of my tanks but the gray one in the back looks like it's not too difficult Linda S
  16. He doesn't have a receiver hitch on his Sunrader and to get what he wants I think the only way he's going to be carrying those bikes is to add one. Linda S
  17. I wouldn't attach anything to the cargo box either. They are not all that well attached to the camper in the first place. My Sunrader has a tow hitch attached in the back with supports that go forward to the frame. Very sound and solid. Might be kind of pricey to add one and also you might have to remove your holding tank if welding is involved. I'm thinking maybe one of these would work. Don't know if there would be enough clearance for the box to fit between the rack parts http://www.ebay.com/itm/Mighty-Rack-2-bike-Bumper-Mount-/301241113265?hash=item46235e9ab1:g:y7AAAOSwDlBTwPCA Ya know that box is a pain and doesn't really carry much anyway. You could just remove it Linda S
  18. Gas but it really doesn't make much difference. Either way the fridge cools from a tiny heater that heats ammonia. Gas uses a flame about the size of a stove pilot and electric uses equivalent heat from electric heater. I notice no difference in the cooling between 110 and propane and a little less cooling from 12 volt. Linda S
  19. You can plan on 40 degrees below outside ambient temps. I have camped at above 90 degrees and the only way I managed to save my food was to hang a wet sheet over the outside fridge vent to cool and shade it. Worked though Linda S It was way over 90.
  20. The silicone is not for sealing. It's to give a neat edge to the trim strip. RV sealant would look ugly. Linda S
  21. Gail bought hers at Home Depot. Here's the Home Depot stuff http://www.homedepot.com/p/MD-Building-Products-1-in-x-30-ft-Vinyl-Garage-Door-Weatherstrip-03822/100190366 Linda S
  22. The best solution I think anyone has found is white garage door seal http://www.stardoorparts.com/Garage-Door-Sandsto-Perimeter-Weather-Seal-2-Wide-p/DRSTOP2SAN.htm?gclid=CISm0t6q98gCFcVlfgod-McDAg Attached with contact cement and white silicone to seal the edges Example of how it looks. http://s46.photobucket.com/user/gfrasier/media/84%20Nissan%20Shorty%20Sunrader/DSC_0030.jpg.html?sort=6&o=10 Linda S
  23. I have a friend who needs to replace his leaf spring bushings but the black tank is in the way of the front ones. I've never done mine so I am not much help. If anyone had accomplished this please tell me what you had to do to get them out. Is dropping the black tank necessary? Any help would be appreciated. Maybe if we figure this out I'll even do mine Linda S
  24. Have you had your alternator tested. Most auto parts stores will do it for nothing. Need to test batteries if the alternator is OK. Most of us run stock alternators and have no problem charging. You do say not holding a charge. That is always battery unless you have a drain somewhere. Linda S
