Ruby
Hello, I have a 1983 Toyota Huntsman (20 ft) with the original 5 lug nut axle and I am looking to get it replaced. I am calling around scrap yards to find a replacement and I just want to make sure I know what to ask for. What I've gathered from talking to a couple mechanics is that I need a full floating axle from a 3/4 or 1 ton (1 ton better) Toyota with a 4/10 gear ratio. Also need the deferential and the drive shaft. Correct? Any other specification I should ask for? Thanks! -Ruby

I don't suppose you are any where near Georgia? Cause this one is available: https://atlanta.craigslist.org/atl/pts/d/lithia-springs-1987-toyota-rv-parting/6984285844.html You can find a decent used 4.1 3rd member pretty easily if your axle doesn't come with one. This is the one available at that link above and will give you an idea of all of the "extras" that ideally would come with a used axle (this one has the drive shaft available too and I'm pretty sure it's a 4.1):

linda s
The only thing you need to ask for is a 6 lug dually axle. Don't think you need a different driveshaft. Try these guys. They might have the part and I'm pretty sure someone from here had them install their axle in the past https://www.alltoyotaparts.com/ Buckley Wa so at least not all the way across country Linda S
JohnVandKerrinG
We just ( driving back to Battle Ground, WA as I post this) picked up one in Nanaimo, BC at South Island Imports for our 1983 New Horizon. Also picked up a couple of cab seats 🤗. Our mechanic also found a couple somewhere in Alaska. They are out there! Good luck!
