hey derek, the reason for the "off set" is due to the size of the hatch cover (height and width), in relation to the dimensions of the fuel filler mounting collar. while researching the hatch covers, i found many sizes, but most were larger than i wanted. the one i bought was large enough to fit over the elongated or oval shaped fuel filler collar, but not so large as to look "goofy" after install. the method i chose to mount the hatch cover required the off set to maximize entry to the filler. is my explanation clear as mud ?? jmowrey--i know i have the link info, just need to find it. as soon as i do i will post it. thanks for you comments. joe from dover

hi there. if i may offer my 2 cents, linda s is spot on with her advice. having hands and eyes on the interior demo will afford very useful knowledge. especially if your plans are to "redo" the interior. knowing how and where things were will help in putting things back. good luck with your venture. hope you get it. it looks really cool. joe from dover

OUCH! so sorry for your luck. but, having insurance to cover the repair is fortunate. if i may offer some suggestions, find a reputable repair shop. and , get some type of warranty. ask for past clients as a reference to check on quality of workmanship, also how timely the repair shop completed the work. make sure you are satisfied with the repair before "signing off" on the insurance claim. i suffered a situation with my winnie last year that involved a whole new roof. good news was my insurance covered the nearly $5,000.00 repair. bad news was it took nearly 7 months at the repair shop. i found out AFTER THE FACT, the repair shop was notorious for delays in making repairs. all said and done the shop did perform excellent work. but the shop was less than honest in accurately estimating the time frame for the repairs. which forced me to cancel trip plans twice. just offering my experience in hopes you may avoid a similar fate. best of luck. and share your outcome please. joe from dover

I WOULD SUGGEST AN AUTOMOTIVE UPHOLSTERY TRIM SCREW, ( HAS A WASHER BUILT IN ). ALSO WOULD RECOMMEND STAINLESS OR ALUMINUM TO PREVENT RUST STAINS. ESPECIALLY IF YOUR NEW INSERT IS WHITE. JOE FROM DOVER

GOOD LUCK WITH YOUR FUTURE INTERESTS. HOPE YOUR RIG FINDS A GOOD HOME. JOE FROM DOVER

thanks derek, ok just trying to educate myself here. why no dually ? because it is a "chinook" ?, i was under the impression all toya's had 4 wheels in rear. either a dually set up, or a tandem configuration. thanks for your knowledge in advance. joe from dover

wow. very nice. looks showroom new ! just curious. hard to tell from photos. is it a dually ? from all photos looks like front and rear wheels are the same. thanks. joe from dover

Removing Toyota motorhome graphics / decals
hunkaman replied to RedEmerald's topic in General Discussion
FRED HEATH IS 100% ABOUT THE DISCOLORATION AFTER THE REMOVAL OF THE GRAPHICS. FOR REASONS STILL UNKNOWN, ONLY ONE OF THE THREE COLOR GRAPHICS ON MY RIG DEGRADED AND WAS "CRACKED". THE LINES FORMING THE "CRACKS", TELEGRAPHED TO THE PAINT. ALTHOUGH THE PAINT WAS NOT DAMAGED AFTER THE REMOVAL OF THE DEGRADED GRAPHICS, WITH THE DISCOLORATION AND BEING ABLE TO SEE THE FINE LINE IMPRINTS OF THE "CRACKS", I CHOOSE TO REPLACE THE GRAPHICS. I MADE TEMPLATES AND HAD THEM REPRODUCED BY A GRAPHIC SHOP. I TRIED TO FIND REPLACEMENT DECALS/GRAPHICS FOR MY RIG ONLINE AND HAD NO LUCK. OTHERS HAVE HAD SOME SUCCESS PURCHASING REPLACEMENTS. GOOD LUCK. JOE FROM DOVER. -
Removing Toyota motorhome graphics / decals

hey there, i used a product called a "decal eraser" i bought it at a local automotive paint and body supply store. it cost about $12.00. it is a rubber type material. you put it in a drill and just apply pressure to the decal/graphic and as it spins it removes the decal/graphic with out harming the underlying finish. i used this last summer on my winnie to remove some degraded graphics. as you use it. the rubber material also wears away. i needed to buy two of them to complete my project. also it has the recommended rpm printed on the eraser and it states in the instruction paper do not exceed the rpm. i was really pleased that it worked so well. joe from dover -
just a thought. possibly make some inquires at a local high school or university (chemistry department) maybe you could be directed to speak to a teacher/professor, for clean up advice and or potential danger in using the oven after clean up ?? might be worth a try before replacing?? where i live in dover, we have an ohio state university extension office. i have called them in the past and they have directed me to someone that could answer my question. joe from dover

to all but especially "greg". i often wondered who the person or people were that are responsible for this site. only wanted to know so i could thank them. this site is truly amazing. very, very interesting, informative, extremely easy to navigate (for someone that uses all caps), i have learned so much from all the fine people who are so quick to offer their advice and experiences to anyone who asks. so thank you so much for establishing and maintaining this site. as always, most people are decent folk, but there always seems to be a few that have their head stuck where the sun don't shine! THANKS AGAIN!. joe from dover.

OBTAINING THE VIN IS A GREAT IDEA. WITHOUT VIN I AM UNSURE IF YOU CAN FIND OUT ABOUT THE HEAD GASKET STATUS. I WAS ABLE TO CONFIRM WITH THE VIN THAT MY 92 WARRIOR HAD THE HEAD GASKET REPLACED. GOOD LUCK WITH YOUR SEARCH. JOE FROM DOVER.
