Very cool project, and I’ll be following for sure!
Curious how you’ll run the (heavy gauge) power wires up to the new unit from your battery bank in a way that maintains the aesthetic of your very nice, custom rig.

Yup, had I known that basically all of the air moves out of the back of the unit I would not have used it in my build. I suppose it should have been obvious because of the direction that the fan motor spins and it then had to force air basically backwards and all the way through the plastic plenum to get out of the front of the unit. I even tried closing all vents except the front to get as much forward air flow as possible, unfortunately this restricts too much air flow and causes the coil to freeze over. I considered installing a 12V fan in the rear of the RV to blow more cool air forward, I think that would help a bit.
I will definitely do a decibel meter test before removing the dometic, as well as a cooling test and of course power draw comparison.
I set the 12V unit on the bench yesterday and did a quick bench test and was surprised with the airflow. It felt like plenty of cool air movement.
My ultimate goal is to end up with 900 watts of solar on the roof (currently at 500) and be able to run the AC unit basically all day to keep the edge off in the camper, and of course a cool nights sleep.

I've read the thread (and sent Extech and Thewanderlustking messages about this job) and have a couple questions. I have an 82 chassis. I bought an 84+ chassis which has the big brake 6 lug front end. It looks like you simply pull the entire 6 lug hub from the donor - leaving upper and lower ball joints on the donor. Then install it directly onto your own Sunrader and the upper and lower ball joints simply fit. And all you have left is the brake caliper lines. Is this correct?
Another question is I noted the 6 lug donor's front sway bar is thicker/stronger. Has anyone also swapped this part over? The sway bar mounts to the lower suspension arm on each side, but I don't know if these suspension arms can be swapped...
For clarity, I bought the entire chassis, so I have ALL the parts from the donor vehicle as of yesterday. Thanks in advance.
