VIN Check

Recommended Posts

VIN's were not standardized until 1981 (17 digit).

Toyota used a metal plate with the chassis serial number stamped on it. It will usually start with the letters RN. This plate is attached to the drivers side inner fender close to the front.

Manufacturers then sometimes assigned their own vehicle ID label on the inside of the coach.

Try to find an old registration. That will help. If not available go by the chassis plate on the fender. A Toyota dealer parts department can tell you the year based on the chassis ID.

Thanks gentlemen,

Yes, I tried two different VIN check sites.  Same for both.  No big deal, yet anyway.  The VIN # is offered on the listing for the little '84 Shasta Toy I am (possibly) soon to have a look at in person.  Since it was in the ad I just figured I would give it a go.
